Video: Glenn Beck interviews Ted Nugent at the Alamo

posted at 9:09 pm on April 15, 2009 by Allahpundit

A surprisingly subued GB at the site of America’s Masada finds the nearest guitar hero/libertarian and queries him as to whether he’s in favor big government or not. Surprise: Not. Always a good idea to give air time to people who have invited the president to suck on his gun.

If you want to see the Nuge shred the national anthem, click here.

If it was left to Obama, the Canadians would have to pedal their wares elsewhere, literally. The American unions are not crazy about Canada or Canadian products entering our country.

This blog’s gone topsy-turvy with its latest parlour game
Some will likely defend this Nugent from night to morn
They dress themselves in a battle of the trolls as a tribute to his name
You’d almost think that saintly Audie Murphy had been re-born
But the jackanapes are always runnin’ round in some guise
What Nugent really is, any sod with a sense of smell surly knows

And every word is bittersweet
Up is down and down is up
When with the other side you must compete

PercyB on April 15, 2009 at 10:43 PM

The interesting thing is that no matter how much power liberals get, they always want more. Winning the last two elections was not enough…now they want to do everything they can to discredit and shut up any kind of opposition. They forget, they are de man now.

And people are starting to get restive.

Ted Nugent Rockin the House. How awesome would it be for him to bring the guns and tell Obama to suck on these in front of the Alamo.

Oh, I forgot the good part. The protest song that came to mind from today:
DER FUEHRER’S FACE
Spike Jones & His City Slickers
Note: Each “heil heil” is accompanied by what is variously
called “the bird”, “the raspberry”, or “the Bronx cheer”

CHORUS
When der fuehrer says we is de master race
We heil heil right in der fueher’s face
Not to love der fuehrer is a great disgrace
So we heil heil right in der fuehrer’s face

When Herr Goebbels Hillary says we own the world and space
We heil heil right in Herr Goebbels’ Hilly’s face
When Herr Goring JoeB says they’ll never bomb dis place
We heil heil right in Herr Goring’s JoeB’s face
Are we not the supermen Aryan elitist pure supermen
Ja we are the supermen (super duper supermen)
Is this Nutsy land so good
Would you leave it if you could
Ja this Nutsy land is good
We would leave it if we could
We bring the world to order
Heil Hitler’s Bambi’s world to order
Everyone of foreign race
Will love der fuehrer’s face
When we bring to the world dis order

CHORUS

INSTRUMENTAL INTERLUDE

…we teabag, teabag, right in Bambi’s face.

From what I understand Canada is getting somewhat of a boost right now because Pres. Obama won’t do the trade agreement with Columbia. It is hurting John Deere and Caterpillar but helping the heavy equipment producers in Canada.

Astroturf -the left is attempting to portray the movement as the GOP astroturfing the libertarians idea of tea parties. Stealing… Is just a way that they think will discredit the movement– as they are attempting to say that it was never a grassroots movement but funded and pushed by certain members of the GOP. They will invent the basis for their accusations. See MMs tdtpfs, Then Sistah Toldjah has some more links on how they will attempt to discredit the movement. Keith_Indy on April 15, 2009 at 11:22 PM

I was at the San Antonio Tea Party. Hearing the Star Spangled Banner (Ted also played it once at about 1pm), and watching those Gadsen, Gonzales and American flags waving in the breeze, it just made me feel very weepy. It was an indescribable feeling, which is why I’m probably murdering it right now, sorry. Everyone I had spoken to had never been to a protest before. But the feeling was there, the vision our fore fathers had for this great nation was there, it was palpable. You could see it on the faces, hear it in the laughter and conversation; We are Americans and we will stand up to Tyranny! It really was a great scene. It was just so downright genuine, and steeped in Americana. I just felt so moved. It was amazing and I can’t wait for the next one!

long_cat on April 15, 2009 at 11:23 PM

I do not have a problem with the Canadian soldiers, not at all..my problem is with rude, obnoxious Canadians who give Americans hell about exercising their constitutional rights.

Terrye on April 15, 2009 at 11:26 PM

Let’s see, they elect a draft dodger as President, and then claim, I guess, that Nugent is a draft dodger, so he shouldn’t be leading a tax revolt.

I would think a more direct “chicken hawk” corollary would be if Nugent were heading a tax protest while not having paid his taxes. Hmmm… I seem to remember a bunch of people recently who basically got a pass and a high paying job, even though they didn’t pay their taxes.

But, something that these trolls, and even some big names on the right don’t understand. IT’S NOT ABOUT THEM, IT’S ABOUT US AND OUR COLLECTIVE FUTURE.

Keith_Indy on April 15, 2009 at 11:27 PM

man I live in San Antonio, and I had to work today.

Earlier today, I wished so bad that I would have had the day off. Otherwise I would have went downtown, waited half an hour for a parking space and joined everyone else. Hopefully they do something like this back here next time when I have the day off.

I just got back and didn’t take time to read the comments, but I was at the tea party, and Nugent did a great job. I know some of his past actions are controversial, but in his talk this evening at the actual tea party he stuck to the basics of freedom and political activism, and was very inspirational.

I say that as someone who was a little worried about what he might do, and he was great.

The first riff Ted plays is the intro to Don’t Tread On Me from The Damn Yankee’s 1992 Don’t Tread. Fun to tune up to.

And I believe that’s a Paul Reed Smith he’s playing. His tones are always so warm with a PRS, more modern sounding than when he plays the semi hollow Gibsons.

And that’s not the first time he’e invited someone to suck on his gun. One of my favorite Ted lines from 1989′s Damn Yankees is:

“Suck on the barrel of my hot shotgun, smile when you say Damn Yankee.”

Ted is the Ann Coulter of Rock. Right on so many things, and so much more bombast than is ever necessary.

I caught some of that on TV this afternoon… that feeling came through… the spirit of the Alamo… it made it feel like liberty’s last stand.

Beck has reverence for the country and the founding principles. He can be goofy. And Nugent can be crass. But what they have in common is a great love of freedom. I don’t know if these parties will come to anything.

I do know that what is happening with this administration is really really bad. It feels bad. I pray there is power in protests like this and we can bring back our government from the brink.

I like Ted’s music and spirit. I don’t share many of his political views, however. I would like there to be a movement about spending and government waste rather than taxes. Part of the problem our nation faces is that we all have been receiving services without entirely paying for them. That gap needs to close once the worst of this financial crisis is over.

Guys, remember that this is only the beginning.

Every household in America who doesn’t live within their means is living on the precipice of disaster. The DC household has pushed itself and us over the cliff. These protests ARE about spending AND taxation.

distractive cheap shots

More good publicity for conservatives courtesy of Ted Nugent–

Always a good idea to give air time to people who have invited the president to suck on his gun.

Envious Pantywaist Allahpundit

Admit your enuresis. You’re a grave pisser, starting with your family’s. You didn’t have the balls to show your sorry self at the Alamo given your handicap Matthews’ tingle leg that just won’t dry.

Drink your own self-righteous snake oil. Passing it as Kool-Aid to the juveniles is your own grating propagandizing habitual trick.

IF a journalist (he denies being more than a mirror) or IF practicing law (apparently not) Allahpundit needs to categorize distinctions very clearly. If an entertainer (as he claims) then Allahpundit plays to his audience to endure his public reception either in adulation or rejection.

Nugent does not presume to be anything other than Nugent. The musician has legal and legitimate artistic license during his performances promoted and funded as ENTERTAINMENT; and Nugent adheres to every traditional safety code. Nugent has every right to his style. Furthermore, as a citizen, Nugent has rights to his opinions.

Coercing infringement on freedom of speech in order to gag entertainers with new “codes” is Obama’s style. Unlike Obama, Inc., Nugent is most certainly not inciting domestic invasion of privacy. Blaming Nugent for radical terrorism has no legitimacy and is a fascistic method to deflect attention from the real threats that Obama is imposing within HIS revisions on the government, no longer to be our Constitutional Government.

The tea party I went to yesterday didn’t have Nugent, but we had several thousand holding signs and cheering. Hundreds lined the streets with signs and the cars going past and honking were almost constant (it it was in front of city hall..heheh). It was a good day.

Taxes are historically low. Spending on the other hand is historically high. We have a few bills to pay for the last thirty years. No one will campaign FOR taxes but missiles and unemployment benefits cost lots of money and it has to come from somewhere. I’m not convinced that spending cuts and tax cuts together can cure our fiscal incontinence.

You are right to point out that this is about spending but the whole ‘tea party’ thing seems to portray taxes as being somehow illegitimate like the original tea parties.

unclesmrgol on April 16, 2009 at 10:48 AM

It’s true…
You can’t cure stupid.

But fortunately…
Ignorance is curable.

The difference between the Bush’s and Obama’s spending spree is analogous to the lobster in the pot. Bush put us in the cold water and then turned on the heat. It took a while to see what was in store for us (and some never did). On the other hand, Obama’s trying to put us in a rolling boil. It’s pretty obvious what the intent is.

Let’s remember our recent history: Obama cut his teeth as a community organizer in Chicago. Now in order to advance in the Chicago Syndicate you need to make good on your promises. Obama has definitely advanced to a point where he can may some serious payback.

Based on the way Chicago is run, “we ain’t seen nothin yet” insofar as the Democrats quest for power and control.

You sent both of your soldiers? How can you defend yourselves?

Poptech on April 15, 2009 at 10:56 PM

Poptech, if you read history, you’ll find that those two Canadians wupped our asses during the War of 1812 — the last time we had to go up against them.

If you’ve ever wondered why the White House is painted white, go read a bit of history.

I love that a notorious vietnam war draft dodger is the face of the teabaggers.

benny shakar on April 15, 2009 at 9:11 PM

Collectivist.

Libertarian Joseph on April 16, 2009 at 10:55 AM

Put it this way: a French farmer protest with 200 tractors and a bunch of manure dumped around Paris gets more policy change than “2300″ impotent back-patting teabagging parties.

Am I afraid? Of what?

Dave Rywall on April 15, 2009 at 10:20 PM

It all depends on where the tea bags are put. Or, rather, where they are thrown.

By the way, Tax Day has the incorrect date. According to Obama’s tax return, it ought to happen on January 11.

unclesmrgol on April 16, 2009 at 11:06 AM

I assume Dave Rywall cares about our politics bcs he knows Canada might be toast without our support.
Also, their export markets depend a lot upon us. We buy their stuff.
Without that-their economy could tank.
I don’t mind Canadians-I see them all the time as they border my state of ND.
But I have never proposed to lecture to another on their country’s business.
Rywall can only talk the talk.
It seems I really did miss a stellar performance blogging last night.
Sucks that I have a job! I miss all these opportunities!
BTW-Ted has great form at time-like in the vid here.
But he can get really inappropriate-
He really is the Ann Coulter of Rock-but his opinions are based on a lot of truth & common sense & I can look past some of his grandstanding & embrace the thruth.
Trolls don’t want us doing that bcs it brings us all together.

Badger40 on April 16, 2009 at 11:18 AM

By the way, did anyone else just see Pelosi on Fox saying that the tea parties were not a grassroots movement; that they were organized and backed by big rich folks wanting less taxes? Is that woman really Getalife? Did she even tune in and watch any of the Fox coverage yesterday?

I find her attitude a very obnoxious one; in fact, I smell a big rat. Does she really believe she can pooh pooh it all away? How f***ng arrogant! and unacceptable! If that doesn’t scare anyone here as to how far she has her heels stubbornly stuck in, I don’t know what will.

I love that the Left ridicules one draft dodger while holding up another (Bruce Springsteen)as the voice of the people.

Or is it okay because Bruce just pretended to be gay to avoid the draft?

DAMN!!!… The Nuge sure can shred.

Ted is the Ann Coulter of Rock. Right on so many things, and so much more bombast than is ever necessary.

juanito on April 16, 2009 at 12:28 AM

Yes… That pretty much sums it up. They are both very entertaining, and talented in their fields. Since Mr GB is getting sooo hated on by the MSM I may give him a serious view too. I tend to go through phases with TV and radio talents. But Im always on the look out for my next ex-favorite.

bigskinny on April 16, 2009 at 11:51 AM

Remember folks, trolls (and the MSM) always fall back on the tried and true ALINSKY RULES FOR RADICALS. They start with the Nuge play from JournOList:

RULE 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions. (This is cruel, but very effective. Direct, personalized criticism and ridicule works.)

Yeah. Bcs it’s not, like, you know, Ted has said anything that makes sense, or, like, is true, or anything.
It’s much more important to address something that may or may not have happened in his past that is totally unrelated.

That’s exactly what Jerry Brown said about Howard Jarvis and the California tax revolt in the 1970s. He didn’t believe Proposition 13 would pass, right up until Election Day. he didn’t believe Reagan would be elected, right up until Election Day.

There are going to be some very surprised politicians in November 2010. And one REALLY surprised Former Speaker Of The House.

Come to think of it………..when the progressives regressives have a rally, have you ever heard the national anthem?

Dr.Cwac.Cwac on April 15, 2009 at 9:31 PM

Woodstock? Jimi Hendrix? Dropping acid bombs on the anthem?

Good times… good times…

JohnGalt23 on April 16, 2009 at 12:39 PM

Only Hendrix, the Woodstock Generation and gospel singers are given license to perform alternative interpretations of the Star Spangled Banner.

I have a recording of the Star Spangled Banner arranged by Claudio Grafulla back in the mid-19th Century…Union military bands played it during the Civil War, and it’s not the official arrangement…so what?

I would suggest that most of our trolls have absolutely no idea who Ted Nugent is.

WHAT AN AWESOME AMERICAN

Dave Rywall on April 15, 2009 at 9:14 PM

yeah he was a typical liberal then…

right4life on April 15, 2009 at 9:15 PM

Exactly, I used to be very liberal in my younger days, but then I grew up and started thinking for myself and rejected the liberal ideology that I was just an innocent victim and without the help of the liberal establishment I did not have the power to change my circumstances!

It is the liberal victim mindset and ideology that oppresses individualism and self-determination. Also, I’m certain if asked Ted Nugent would be upfront and honest about what he did to avoid the Vietnam war and now many years later having freed himself of the oppressive victim ideology of the liberal left now regrets his actions and would have made a different decision armed with the knowledge and wisdom he now has.

For most people like myself life’s experiences bring wisdom, however others refuse to grow up and instead remain bound by the chains of liberal victim-hood going through life refusing to face (let alone acknowledge) their individual roles and responsibilities for how their lives are but instead continue to blame people and institutions (government, etc.) for their failures.

To me a perfect example of these liberal victims are the Grateful Dead “Deadheads” that used to follow the band all around the country doing nothing but griping about the government and “those people” that are keeping them down while at the same time they gladly cash their welfare checks and food stamps, use their free government subsidized health care whenever they get sick, make money under the table selling Deadhead trinkets at the concerts (not paying taxes on the money they earned of course) so they can traipse around the country getting stoned and groove on Grateful Dead music while at the same time not paying into the system, basically using their faux victim hood as justification for stealing from those that are truly in need of such assistance all the while cursing the very government and productive members of society (the tax payer) that provide the funds for such services and assistance they galdly use!

The above IMHO is a perfect example of a typical liberal…I am so glad I grew up and threw off the chains of liberal victim ideology!

Liberty or Death on April 16, 2009 at 1:33 PM

Brain research does show how adolescents are virtually incapable of making sound decisions AKA liberalism.

Badger40 on April 16, 2009 at 1:58 PM

Ted Nugent isn’t some weenie who is afraid to express himself because someone might be offended. He actually practices what he preaches, unlike most of the politicians out there and it’s refreshing to have him on the air. We need an entire country like him!

flytier on April 16, 2009 at 1:59 PM

Who gives a **** what Ted Nugent did many, many years ago or who he told to suck what.

Most people make the jouney from irrational thinking Liberal to Free thinking conservative, and they make many mistakes in the early part of that journey that they are not proud of, and as far as him telling “said politician to suck his Glock”, its called a smooth transition from the First Amendment into the Second Amendment.
