Video: David Shuster can’t get enough of teabagging

posted at 5:35 pm on April 14, 2009 by Allahpundit

This makes not one, not two, but three segments in primetime to which MSNBC has devoted the fine art of the teabag pun, thereby proving that, despite the Foxies’ best efforts, FNC’s actually not the most biased network when it comes to tea-party coverage. Try as I might to manufacture some phony outrage at this display the way Shuster would surely have done if it aired on Fox, all I can muster is boredom — and grim amusement at the thought of what sorts of innuendo Olby would be lobbing at O’Reilly had he indulged in such idiocy. Still, give Shuster credit for the Dick Armey joke at the end. Sounds like he worked pretty hard on that one. Click the image to watch.

Nothing like refreshing the page and reading Shuster and Teabagging. Throw in a Barney Frank and my whole night is shot. Thanks AP.

I’m having a hard time distinguishing between The Daily Show and MSNBC now…well, the Daily Show is slightly less biased, but other than that, nothing.

David Shuster can’t get enough of teabagging.

I’ll bet.

HornetSting on April 14, 2009 at 5:37 PM

“We can only speculate why widespread teabagging made Cavuto think of the Million Man March.”

Classy.

Y-not on April 14, 2009 at 5:37 PM

Yeah, it’s the MSM libs little way of trying to diminish the impact of the Tea Parties.
To the libs, Tea Party is commensurate with golden shower.

carbon_footprint on April 14, 2009 at 5:37 PM

Allah, will you tea bagging?

upinak on April 14, 2009 at 5:37 PM

Me thinks he has a fetish for tea-bagging…he should get together and hang out with “leg tingles” and Barney Fwank…if he doesn’t already!

Liberty or Death on April 14, 2009 at 5:38 PM

Who is going to tea bag tomorrow?

upinak on April 14, 2009 at 5:39 PM

The only reason I can think of for MSNBC’s “tea-bagging” spree of despair, is their own personal war against FOX News (who we know are promoting and giving much air time to the tea parties) and their perceived war fighting for the Left.

Personally, I can take or leave these tea parties. Even if millions were to show up, it wouldn’t change anything. But kudos to those who do go. Unfortunately, it’s a work day. But the tea parties are a good way to vent some anger.

JetBoy on April 14, 2009 at 5:39 PM

Allah once again does his job of passing on left-wing ridicule and talking points. Do you ever post anything that PROMOTES the conservative cause ever? What has Meghan McCain been doing today? Is it something that will qualify as QOTD?

echosyst on April 14, 2009 at 5:39 PM

Funny Shuster would talk about “Tea bagging”, because you need balls to do it, which Shuster does not. However Rachel Maddow can talk about it all she wants…..

portlandon on April 14, 2009 at 5:41 PM

There’s a reason shuster got replaced in the 6pm time slot.

Schuster, Maddow, Olbermann, Stewart. What’s with the Jews in the media supporting a party who just gave $900 million to Hamas? I just don’t get it.

Jesus Christ. Like 8th graders giggling about “69″. The left giggling about tea bagging is equally as childish.

I am attending a Tea Party in Oklahoma City and have recruited others as well.

It’s on the south steps of the State Capitol.

tru2tx on April 14, 2009 at 5:51 PM

Look, this is just an indication of how scared the left is of these basically grassroots protests. The left locking onto “tea-bagging“, a term they are using; no one else involved in the tea-party protests use the term, is right out of the Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals –
RULE 5: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” There is no defense. It’s irrational. It’s infuriating.
.
Also, I, as an American, am very insulted by the left’s attack on our right to peacefully assemble. Can you imagine if FoxNews made fun of the “million” man march like MSNBC is doing about the tea-parties?

JeffVader on April 14, 2009 at 5:53 PM

You know one of these MSNBC people will slip up, pull this schtick on the Today Show and have to explain to the FCC that they were not aware of the phrase’s other meaning.

Allah, I have to ask, is there any topic (except perhaps evangelical atheism) that doesn’t elicit boredom from you?

Nessuno on April 14, 2009 at 5:57 PM

Here once again is an example of the right allowing the left to frame the debate… silly as it is.

What is happening is a Boston type “Tea Party” as basic to American politics as any concept. And yet the left has turned it into sleazy innuendo and there it goes…

The left is underestimating the depth and source of rage however, somehow they have convinced themselves that “corporations” (the forever bad guys…) are fueling anger.

I want my government to stop throwing away my future. I want government to be efficient and small–doing only those things I can’t possibly do for myself. I believe businesses (ie. corporations) are more to be trusted than government. Business motivations are upfront and simple. Government is about power hungry control.

It is not “tea bagging” people it is a Tea Party tax revolt.

You know what I found to be most interesting about this? It was the Cavuto portion where they “quote” him as saying Fox was going to be in the middle of these [teabaggers].

Quick google search showed the transcript had Cavuto saying that Fox is “going to be right in the middle of these protests because at FOX we do not pick and choose these rallies and protests.”

Was there really a need to change the 2 terms? Couldn’t they have used “tax protests” as their term? Why am I surprised they’re drumming up outrage over their coverage of the “news”?

So MSNBC is either scripted by 10 year old boys or its newsrooms are full of people who are personally familiar with being up close and personal to someone else’s male genitalia.

I’m going to a Tea Party, and will be damn excited to be amongst brethren. And hella lots of them too.

But I will admit that the agreed-upon subject of the Tea Parties (Taxes) is not the strongest reason that I want to protest (by FAR).

The biggest reason for protest (IMO) is 1) the radical encroachment by the new administration into our capitalist economy, 2) with little or no regard for the law as they do it, and 3) running a huge gamble of an experimental financial policy, based on 4) the notion that they were voted into office by a huge majority to make major changes.

52% does not give them the right to stomp all over us. I want to show them how big 48 percent really is.

Oh yes, and I want them to fail.

As with the Rachel Maddow video shown earlier, the humor is forced and repetitive. And it’s still unclear what the substance of their beef is with the tea parties (or the teabagging, as the MSNBC Style Guide insists).

Why all the fuss over this toothless right-wing fringe event?

On the humor front, these people embarrass themselves, since this kind of fare (in bigger and better portions) is served up nightly by Stewart and Letterman. I’m sure even the watercarrier Stewart cringes at this kind of stuff.

But it’s on the substance that this crumbles. I can’t tell if Schuster et all are willfully obtuse about the nature of these tea parties or if they simply don’t understand what’s going on. Or maybe they’re just spewing talking points from that other set of geniuses at the White House.

The American Left is syphilitic in its arrogance and ignorance.

No, just have a lot of years at the same place with a good vacation policy. I’m allowed to carry time over, plus I get comp time for doing business on weekends.

I bust my ass, so I’ve earned it.

No doubt, you’ve earned it. That’s a really good vaca policy. I can carry over, but only for the next year. If I don’t use vaca/sick days up by then, they disappear.

Of course, that’s never happened…

gotcha! Busting butt and 6 weeks vacation. So, where do you see yourself for that 6 weeks? And who would run your blog? You would be missed

I can still blog from anywhere. Obviously much less if I’m away somewhere.

I take a couple of long vacations but in the summer I’m able to work longer days during the week and just use half vacation days and have off Fridays most of the summer. Then I just chill at the pool with my son, go fishing, stuff like that.

Thankfully, there is the Green Room, so I read fewer and fewer AP posts…

Truthfully, I only click on posts that look interesting, I don’t look at the author, but I usually know right away once I read the first sentence.
