Tom, perhaps map reading is not your forte in life but when the pirate attacks expanded their location outside the Gulf of Aden, logically the area of operation for Task Force 151 would expand.

Where you aware that the area in question was not an area the pirates were using prior to Feb 09?

Its not as you implied, that Bush made the area around the horn “off limits” its just the fact that pirate attacks were not occurring around the horn till Feb 09.

These operations have been going on for some time now.

Perhaps if Obama or Biden had ACTUALLY attended the meetings they woulda knwoed dat!

HA reader Morgen, who posts occasionally at Verum Serum, discovered that when the subcommittee met to discuss the issue of Somalia and piracy over the last three years, both the President and VP were no-shows.

After the Churchill apprehended their pirates, they handed them and the hijacked crew and ship over to us. we held both groups for a week – a week we were supposed to be inport on liberty. We got our liberty later, so that’s okay.

A week later, right after we gave both groups medical and dental work free of charge (and food and fuel!),a nd wondering just when we would let them go and get some down-time, we finally let the pirates go to Kenya for trial and the hijackees just plain go, we got a visit from the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (MCPON), the highest ranking enlisted member in our service.

We were like “cool, get some props from ‘Big Navy’! We mustered the entire crew in the hangar bay for his “call”. He flew aboard and we waited at parade rest for about 45 minutes before he he came down to talk to us. What did he say? “How about that Churchill, huh?”

You could have heard a pin drop.

Intrigued with his Marxist buddies, planned his presidential campaign, worked with ACORN to put the fix on votes, strategized with Rahmbo and other politicos on how to beat Hillary (especially in the caucuses), networked with RINOs for support and funding, picked out which official-looking seals he liked best, helped his bud campaign in Kenya, partied with Khalidi, hired lawyers to cover up his birth certificate and other records, met with Liberal MSM moguls, worked to keep his aunt in the States…doesn’t leave much room for anything else does it now?

…you surely know that shortly after he took office, the Joint Chiefs of Staff issued a directive that allowed the U.S. Navy to pursue pirates around the Horn of Africa… something that had not been done under the Bush administration.

Firstly, JeffWeimer on April 14, 2009 at 12:39 PM does a good job of taking your point apart. Bush was active off the Horn.

But let’s ignore that for a minute and take your premise that Bush wasn’t proactive in battling the piracy problem.

Isn’t that exactly your problem with what Bush did in Iraq? That after the 9/11 attack took us by surprise, that Bush unnecessarily pre-empted another potential enemy?

In what parallel universe to you live? Bush was under attack by the left and media before, during and after the election and that continues today. Or maybe I just live in a different world!

Not when you consider they are liberals. With liberals, this is as good as it gets.

But as far as my attacks on Bush go, they were always about substantial issues… like Iraq, or his staff outing Plame (which they did).

Oh, and about the “Plame” outing. She was already “outed” by her husband, who spoke publicly about who she worked for before anyone in the White House ever discussed it. Scooter Libby was just a scapegoat so the idiot prosecuter could satisfy the screaming libs in congress who just wanted a reason to get rid of Bush. No one in the administration did anything illegal, so they just had to catch Libby in his memory lapse after they ask him the same questions forty times. As Rush would say “it’s not the whether your innocent or guilty, it’s the seriousness of the charge”

Big deal. He was present during the Somalia Privacy Hearings and he voted Present. He’s now resolutely against Somalia privacy. He’s made great progress in only 3 months in his first executive job. getalife and stop picking on him.

Well without doing any research, just look at your post, where you stated that Bush hadn’t done anything about piracy, then you had to back off when I pointed out that is was him and not Obama…so your statement of always backing up with facts, is just untrue, as can be easily seen.

I’m not saying I’m always right. But when I’m wrong, I try to admit it — as hard as it may be sometimes.

But, in this case, I did back up my statement with a fact. But I did just a tertiary analysis of it and formed a — most likely — incorrect conclusion from it.

And, I will say I don’t always back stuff up. But when I make an accusation, I do.

Give me a break! If I hear another lib complain about how we should not criticize their precious president, I am going to be sick. Never in the history of this country has any president been more criticized, abused and insulted than George Bush. At least he listened and tried to get along with those he disagreed with, not any of this “I won” b.s. Obama is such a pompous As**, it is just incredible that you people are so blind, deaf and dumb!
