Audio: Humane Society’s newest spokesman? Rush Limbaugh
posted at 6:35 pm on April 14, 2009 by Allahpundit
Ben Smith hints darkly that this is a ploy by Rush to turn up the heat on Obama for not adopting a shelter dog, as he promised he would. I’m skeptical. Listen to the clips and judge for yourself. There’s nothing political about them; all I hear is a guy who loves animals — cats, specifically, to his eternal credit — performing a service for a good cause. (Hard to believe though it may be for some, he actually is a human being.) Besides, there’s no political mileage to be had from picking a fight as petty as the one Smith imagines, or at least not enough to make it worth Limbaugh’s while to become a full-fledged spokesman for some group. Or am I out of the loop and the shelter thing is something he’s been hammering Obama for on his show?
Exit question: Does this mean we’re the party of cat-lovers now? Awesome.

We have a big roly-poly Manx (tuxedo colored) cat & he is a riot! Very playful, smart & tons of personality.

Manx cats have no tail.

THANK GOD I read past the first line! I thought you were feeding feral cats to your neighbor while she was in the hospital. See what reading all of these sick troll posts does to a person?

I don’t think the whole thing is that big of a deal. But I would personally adopt. Too bad we can’t have a cat because of allergies in the family. But we’ll get a small dog eventually.

That’s good to know about the birds and cold. I would need one of the big parrots because of the dogs and cats.
And yes the HSUS is a bad organization that is trying to ban dog breeds.

OBAMA QUOTE: ‘I’d get a shelter dog, but that would be a mut like me’
Does the guy EVER tell the truth? Seriously.

Both our cats were found on the streets, abandoned. Buddy, a taby mix was found abandoned on a dusty road in Central California, and Mr.Tux, a black and white european bi-coloured was wandering in our neighbourhood and ended at our doorstepts. They are both now very big and beautiful cats. My mother takes care of abandoned dogs back home in Romania and with one exception, my mother’s current dog, all our pets were rescued from the streets. I have a place in my heart for people that save abandoned animals from the shelters.

Quote from Wayne Pacelle, head of HSUS:
“We have no ethical obligation to preserve the different breeds of livestock produced through selective breeding …One generation and out. We have no problems with the extinction of domestic animals. They are creations of human selective breeding.”

My two cats (and my visting daughter’s cat) approve. My dog’s not sure, though.

I’ve been volunteering at the Austin Humane Society for just over three years, and yes, your local Humane Society has nothing to do with the HSUS. There are some good ASPCA programs that work with local shelters, though.
As for Obama and shelter mutts, believe me–I’ve yet to meet a shelter mutt that isn’t too good for Obama. Best dogs in the world. But that’s just one more secret we can keep between us common folk.

I love cats. They taste like chicken.
