Video: Guest collapses on Glenn Beck’s show

posted at 5:23 pm on April 13, 2009 by Allahpundit

Evidently he’s okay, but was feeling ill this morning and became light-headed during the segment.

Never a dull moment with GB. Although I confess, I always thought he’d be the first one to pass out on his show.

Update: Only on GB could people think this might actually be part of the show.

Blowback

Good for Glenn; he handled it well.

He’s got the vapors!

lorien1973 on April 13, 2009 at 5:25 PM

Funny, whenever I see Beck I fall asleep also…

right2bright on April 13, 2009 at 5:26 PM

This? You post this!? While I admit this is compelling video, sure to be viral… Why have you guys still not posted the video I sent you of the crew of the Maersk Alabama? Again, this would easily be the most popular video to come out today. Red meat. Crew saying they were under attack for a week, saying they never lost control of the ship, calling the pirates a-holes, demanding Obama send the Navy to get these guys, etc. etc.

RightWinged on April 13, 2009 at 5:26 PM

“We need to revive him. Get my gas can!”

Jim Treacher on April 13, 2009 at 5:26 PM

Hmmm,

Way to rush to his aid, Fox people.

originalpechanga on April 13, 2009 at 5:27 PM

I am glad he is ok — and Glenn did a great job on live TV handling it.

I probably would have fainted right after the guest did if I had to keep going with the show.

Michelle on April 13, 2009 at 5:27 PM

*yikes*

I never watch Beck. He’s a screamer.

AnninCA on April 13, 2009 at 5:27 PM

He’s ok and Glenn did fine

It’s not a big deal

Defector01 on April 13, 2009 at 5:28 PM

Other people have BDS or ODS. I have GBDS, I don’t believe a single thing this man does is genuine or legit. I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t orchestrated, how has this never happened on any live news program before? Whatever Glenn Beck you suck forever.

Always ready with a swipe at Beck, eh AP.

pseudonominus on April 13, 2009 at 5:28 PM

“On next weeks episode, Glenn will have a man shot out of a cannon, while on fire, & playing a trombone.”

portlandon on April 13, 2009 at 5:29 PM

I saw it when it was broadcast.
Not sure why Mr. Pundit sees the need to comment, or provoke comments. Perhaps Mr. Pundit could expand the post with an update as to why he sees something noteworthy here.

Perhaps there could be a contrast to the NASA astronaut just returned from six months on the International Space Station who also fainted while on stage with the Shuttle crew who brought her home.

Skandia Recluse on April 13, 2009 at 5:29 PM

Lay off. Readers were emailing the tips line asking for the video or recommending that it be posted.

Michelle on April 13, 2009 at 5:31 PM

And of course it happened when Beck is having another one of his armageddon scenarios, does he literally do those everyday? I’m so glad I don’t know the answer to that. Rush Limbaugh in a car is kind of funny and over the top. Sean Hannity is painful but harmless. Glenn Beck freaks me right the fuck out and it’s because he’s so obviously fake and calculated. Oh and classy with the jeans buddy.

DeathToMediaHacks on April 13, 2009 at 5:31 PM

I hope he feels better.

Beck handled it pretty well.

MadisonConservative on April 13, 2009 at 5:31 PM

When the guy was saying he was passing out, I honestly thought at first he was joking about the topic – as in, this was so disasterous, it was harmful to his health. And then, next thing I knew, dude was going down. I hope he’s okay.

It’s always a bit scary when someone collapses in front of you, and you don’t know why (not an obvious seizure or cause). Well, at least it is to me.

Anna on April 13, 2009 at 5:31 PM

Glenn handled it very well. Kudos and I am glad the man is okay.

carbon_footprint on April 13, 2009 at 5:31 PM

If this had happened on Olbermans show, he would be looking all around frantically looking for Bush & Cheney shooting poison darts.

BTW, the entire segment makes no sense.

AnninCA on April 13, 2009 at 5:29 PM

It’s not supposed to, it’s supposed to freak you out and make you think Obama is destroying the economy and we’re headed for complete societal meltdown in less than five years. His segments have no other purpose.

DeathToMediaHacks on April 13, 2009 at 5:32 PM

In Obamba’s voice…”Ya’ll need some water? Here brother, hydrate yourself….make room for the EMT’s…do we have any EMT’s?…”

Awww Hack, you widdle baby…is Beck getting in yer melon?

ornery_independent on April 13, 2009 at 5:36 PM

Aww one of the many reasons I stopped blogging, commentators like death to media hacks, I could never understand why liberals felt the need to troll conservative sites. Weird. As for the fainting, that was really tough to watch, everyone handled themselves well but I feel badly for that guy who fainted because he will no doubt be featured on the Daily Show and made fun of.

nswider on April 13, 2009 at 5:36 PM

Never lock your knees when standing for prolonged periods. Saw this happen many times in bootcamp.

maintenanceman on April 13, 2009 at 5:37 PM

Twice the guy said he was passing out and Beck just kept asking if he was OK.

Well, NO, he wasn’t OK, he clearly said he was passing out!

Good thing he grabbed his hand right before the tumble.

reine.de.tout on April 13, 2009 at 5:37 PM

One of those rare threads where we have Ed, AP and Michelle leave comments and DTMH leaves a profane, stinker of a comment.

Great job.

I’m not a doctor, but I have had the misfortune of almost fainting once in a doctor’s office when I had blood drawn. I turned incredibly pale and got tunnel vision, started going deaf, couldn’t smell… It was really scary. Apparently they are called “vasovagal reactions” and basically your blood pressure drops and the blood runs out of your head. I feel really bad for the poor guy… It’s embarrassing and scary at the same time. I’m glad he’s ok.

Outlander on April 13, 2009 at 5:39 PM

His delivery is very unorthodox. There’s no disputing it.

Now, I and many others like that new twist. Others, understandably, react to it with caution and yes, some disbelief. Doesn’t make one hate him to blink when he breaks down or uses five different faux voices in one segment.

I’ve been in a situation somewhat like this, where I was sick and under hot set lights and I started getting light headed and wanted to put my head down. However I remembered to breathe and was fortunate enough to not pass out, although I was definitely getting tunnel vision and hearing my heart pumping in my ears. Not fun. To say this is a gimmick, is simply stupid. I could imagine Glenn and the crew were wondering what the hell to do because something like that seems surreal in the moment that it’s happening. Can we get DTMH sick and set his d’mass under some hot stage lights so we can watch him pass out?

As per the new Green Room feature, blogging is a vehicle by which folks who have a need for notoriety, get to show everyone how smart, connected, hip and cool they are. I expect McShamnesty’s RINO daughter to be blogging there soon.

If you would have left well enough alone, the video would have made it to the front page as long as someone else could have made themselves the center of attention by doing so. Your mistake was pointing out the video. Even if you don’t know the blogger, they know each other and they have to out-do each other.

They aren’t ALL like that, but most are. MM does what she does because she believes. She basically dumped Bill O over a matter of principle. All she had to do is let Bill use her like a doormat and she would have had a weekly, or nightly feature on his show.

The ego is a powerful monster that has to be fed and it cares not whom or what it consumes in order to become bigger.
