Should Hot Air have another Green Room just for lefty trolls?

A few people floated this idea half-jokingly in the Green Room thread this morning and I’ve been mulling it ever since, mainly because it’d be such a radical departure from the blogospheric paradigm. There are centrist sites that cater, or claim to cater, to both lefties and righties — Donklephant, The Moderate Voice, etc. — but no site that I know of with a clear ideological bent carves out space for people from the other side of the aisle. Imagine a separate page devoted to a galaxy of all your favorite HA trolls, baiting you into flame war after flame war with only the choicest liberal boilerplate: Death to Media Hacks, capitulus, Proud RINO, getalife, ernesto, SnarkVader, benny shakar, The Wall, and of course PopTech for all your frenetic Palin-bashing needs. I’m fascinated by the thought of how a feature like that would do. Would readers ignore it completely? Would it pick up a following among lefty-blog readers? Or would it triple our traffic as legion after legion of faithful HA readers enter the threads to do ideological battle for hours on end? Dude, this could be a gold mine. Gold mine, I tell you.

Suggested names for the new feature: The Blue Room, The Trash Can, Troll Call, and … the Troll Hole. I’m picturing black trim on the page, a skull-and-crossbones on top, and the slogan “Abandon All Hope, Ye Who Enter Here” as its motto. Sound off!

I haaaate those things! My warranty doesn’t expire for 3 years!

ROFLMAO! I love people who do not understand how the voting system works and tries to intimidate others into voting only for one of the two parties. This is why nothing ever changes in this country and government keeps growing bigger.

Poptech on April 14, 2009 at 10:24 AM

What’s more important? How the “voting” system works, or how the electoral system works? The Electoral College picks the President, not you, schlub.

apollyonbob on April 14, 2009 at 12:26 PM

I think vacuous, small-minded people need a place to be heard, too.
I want to see it crash & burn, personally.
But then again, someone said it right when there’s already DailyKos & Huffpo.
There really are only so many trashy places these people can mingle. Perhaps giving them another place to go would endeavor them to listen to another viewpoint?
NAH!

Badger40 on April 14, 2009 at 12:27 PM

I personally like the title “Under The Bridge” for this room!

Its a great idea as long as the lefties are thoughtful.

RAB on April 14, 2009 at 1:22 PM

I second the motion for calling it “Troll Call”. Allah’s curiosity has gotten mine going too. Think of it as a daring experiment!

Agam on April 14, 2009 at 1:26 PM

That’s a pretty generous offer, giving the trolls their own hole. What makes you think they’d stay in there.

scalleywag on April 14, 2009 at 1:29 PM

Are you going to charge them for utilities (bandwidth)? I would.

scalleywag on April 14, 2009 at 1:30 PM

I think it’s actually an idea worth considering. One thing that is starting to bore me about the internet is how each blog is OK for this or that dicussion….or it’s just junior high namecalling.

The blog that breaks through is a winner, I think.

Do it. Name it Dead Air.

Grafted on April 14, 2009 at 2:47 PM

I’m not going to read 600+ comments, so if it hasn’t been suggested yet, I’d suggest calling it The Pit of Despair.

piraticalbob on April 14, 2009 at 3:14 PM

Ummm… You are a bit ahead of the curve on this idea. As a free market capitalist I say go fer it an see if it makes a lil coin. (internet or real)

But the PC side of me says that you should wait until the federal government passes a law to guide you on what is acceptable via the fairness doctrine or whatever they are calling it these days. Lets face it when it comes to fairness, our Dem controlled legislature is soooooo qualified to instruct us all on what is correct.

bigskinny on April 14, 2009 at 3:26 PM

Of those you listed, AP, at least ernesto has valid points and can think for himself sometimes (but still pisses me off sometimes =p ). The rest of those people could be banned and wouldn’t be missed…except by each other.

Kelligan on April 14, 2009 at 12:16 PM

The thing is, not so long ago ernesto was no different…then he learned the difference between a liberal and a “classic” democrat.
A “classic” democrat has ideas, they do have a purpose, people like Tammy Bruce is an example, I may disagree, but there is common ground.
A liberal, which most of the democrats have become, is ideologically opposed to everything conservative. They are anarchists at heart, but want to suck on the teet of the gov. They have few values, so they point out “hypocrites”, because they have no values, they are never in conflict with values.
ernesto is a democrat, he has started to “wean” his way from the liberal rants and talking points.
So will the others as they absorb our logical way of approaching problems.

I think the key to this endeavor is finding the right name. I like “Pin the Fail on the Donkey”

This is a great name! I about fell out of my chair laughing like mad. :)

sheebe on April 14, 2009 at 9:43 PM

It’s real simple.

Call it: Allahpundit.com

It would attract a LOT of lefty trolls, that their nemesis could then enjoy throwing flame wars at each other all day and night, at which point, the air in here would go from cool, to warm, to eventually sorta lukewarm hot and then ultimately it would be hot as blazes…

….. to the point that the sane would have to leave in droves in order to save their lives….

Oh wait.

It’s already been done….

My bad….

I apologize.

Mcguyver on April 14, 2009 at 10:55 PM

Interesting idea AP. If nothing else it will allow you to corral the loons into one asylum.

Chook on April 14, 2009 at 11:56 PM

If you do let them have a blog for themselves, call it The Coffin Nail.

For obvious reasons.

Hell No!!
Don’t give these liberal prick a damn thing. “Screw ‘em!
It’s simple, these frickin douche bag liberals are here to defend there corrupt, arrogant president and his disgusting administration. Let them go to kos, huffington post, any of the 100’s of liberal sites. HA has enabled these punkass kids to infest this site and they are nothing more than arrogant self-center racism-hunters looking for rewards for being a lazy ass loser. There not one of them who would have the courage to stand up for any cause not universally supported by everyone of there liberal asshole friends.
….an Original thought from this scum? If it’s not welfare, then it’s not likely.

Just call it: www.*???????????.com/leftytrolls

*Your choice of web domain.

Unashamed, unabashedly, lefty… no more spin, no more facade, no more bull, all the Palin bashing, the Kirsten P. ooogling that the law allows.

Have a permanent picture of Palins hacked email (blur out illegal privacy stuff of course) as the masthead.

Gold I tell you, PURE gold.

Run Jack Daniels sponsored banners all day long…

Gold I tell you, pure gold.

Featured quote of the day would Keith Olbermann’s “Worst Person In The World”.

Gold I tell you, pure gold.

Have a permanent foot note picture of (Obama being in touch with the people), poking the air around his nose with his middle finger.

Gold I tell you, pure gold.

Make it happen.

You will never regret it because you will become rich and the kingpin of the blogosphere.

Gold I tell you, pure gold.

You are not entirely correct here. The popularity of Perot was directly responsible for Newt Gingrich formulating the Contract With America (CWA). Almost every plank in the CWA was part of the Reform Party platform. The Republicans managed to recover some of their popularity and retake both houses of Congress and the Presidency precisely because Perot showed them the way.

What we seem to have lost is that Americans have not really changed. We see a lot of platitudes from the MSM that try to convince us otherwise. We hear a lot from the RINOs and moderates that attempt to convince us otherwise. But the real evidence shows that conservative values are as strong as ever and the real problem with the Republicans is the infiltration of the party by the namby pamby wing.

The Contract With America was part of the campaign in 1994. The Reform party was founded in 1995.
