Ready for more Hot Air? Try the Green Room!

We’re pleased to announce the launch of our newest feature at Hot Air, the Green Room! We’ve created space for some of our most respected commenters to blog themselves right here at Hot Air and lead their own discussions. For this launch, we’ve begun with the following members of the Hot Air community:

Flyfisher, you’re welcome. Yours are some of the best comments on the moral and religious questions. Very thoughtful and informed. Last year you commented on my candidate, Mitt Romney, and explained why he wouldn’t and couldn’t win, yet you did it in a way that was respectful, without flaming and resorting to insults. It was a “fair and balanced” analysis that stood out. As you can tell, I haven’t forgotten.
So I say it again, I nominate Flyfisher.

The truth is that there are about a 100 people, a bunch of whom haven’t been nominated yet, that would make great additions to the Green Room. It will be interesting to see how this evolves over time.

What’ I’m really waiting for is a full fledged forum. Where anyone who’s a member can start a thread. Now, obviously this requires a lot of moderation… but in a way it cuts it down.
Take for instance we get a new lefty troll–let’s call him “putadeath.” Now, like most lefty trolls, they are usually unable to help themselves. With a new forum feature, they will, no doubt, create a series of threads in short succession. But with strictly enforced forum rules, violations of those rules will lead to banning in short order. And Viola, no more putadeath! Our current lefty trolls who can behave will still behave.
Spammers, etc are all controlled with our current system of only allowing members to comment and very limited registration periods.
I used to run a large forum of people, and the moderation is okay, once you get the hang of it. Makes for a more “community driven” site, though you still have the main page and the articles too. I know Powerline has something like this, but I have no idea how well it’s worked for them.

He was paid to post hear, I called him out, got a lot of flack for it (God forbid you dissed ManlyRush)…then found out, he was paid to post during the elections.
Who knew what his real feelings were, he was a paid poster, to keep the momentum going for the conservatives.

I stopped counting the times I caught her lying…caught her stating wrong facts, passing rumors as facts, quoting MediaMatter (her answer was “they copied me”).
She may be the twin sister of “Honora”, a person who posted here about a year ago. Honora was more “conservative”, but basically did the same thing…passed off lies and rumors as facts, and was caught in numerous statements that were countered by her previous statements…other words, a liar also.

As cheesy as it sounds, I had a group like that on myspace. I was the moderator, but anyone could start a post so long as they were a member.
I ended up having to ban some people (including some jerk who thought it was OK to mock the victims of 9/11 on the anniversary of the attack), but it wasn’t too bad overall.
