Ready for more Hot Air? Try the Green Room!

We’re pleased to announce the launch of our newest feature at Hot Air, the Green Room! We’ve created space for some of our most respected commenters to blog themselves right here at Hot Air and lead their own discussions.  For this launch, we’ve begun with the following members of the Hot Air community:

  • Andy Levy
  • Tanya
  • Jim Treacher
  • Slublog
  • Karl
  • CK McLeod
  • Kid from Brooklyn
  • Patrick Ishmael
  • Madison Conservative
  • SDillard
  • Keemo
  • Coldwarrior

We’ll gradually broaden this as time goes on, and the Green Room builds a following.  Allahpundit and I will crosspost some of the most popular topics on occasion, too.   You may have already noticed the feature link at the top of the page — be sure to check this out, as our Green Room bloggers have already begun.  Add the RSS link to your feedreaders, too, to stay current with the fast-moving conversations!

Update (AP): Commenters below are already suggesting new people to add. Feel free to weigh in if there’s someone here or elsewhere in the blogosphere whom you’d like to hear more from.

Getting weird layout problems on the masthead now. FF 3.0 running on X86_64 CentOS (Linux).

How I was overlooked I’ll never know.

Madison Conservative?

Was Megan McCain unavailable? :)

Ed,

Thank you for introducing this new feature. I have a few quick questions:

Are there uniform Green Room rules? Are they the same as Hot Air rules? Do the rules vary depending on which commenter leads discussion?

Christien on April 13, 2009 at 12:43 PM

We’ve created space for some of our most respected commenters to blog themselves right here at Hot Air and lead their own discussions.

I think Hawkdriver should be added.

I look forward to being a part of this so called “Green Room.”

Nice. Over/under on the number of commenters who are unhappy with MadisonConservative being added: 20.

And on a side note, DoctorZero should get added. He’s by far one of the best commenters here.

BadgerHawk on April 13, 2009 at 12:45 PM

Awesome, I didn’t realize Andy Levy was a commenter or was going to be a Green Roomer.

Repurblican on April 13, 2009 at 12:46 PM

Did Red Pill decline the invitation?

Dead Hand Control on April 13, 2009 at 12:46 PM

Ah, never mind. It was a cache issue. The CSS layout of old masthead was still lurking in the cache. Fixed now.

spmat on April 13, 2009 at 12:46 PM

If you don’t invite me, there will be a distinct lack of boobie posts. :(

lorien1973 on April 13, 2009 at 12:47 PM

Part of me feels that this is, in part, Allahpundit’s payback for all the ‘bot jokes and Met insults…the hunter is now the prey. Having gone from Day One commenter to contributor, I now know how Arnel Pineda feels. Sort of.

Kid from Brooklyn on April 13, 2009 at 12:48 PM

Nice start of the list… lets see who also comes into play.

upinak on April 13, 2009 at 12:49 PM

Ouch, “madison conservative” is “most respected?” This is the guy that kept saying, despite the evidence, that Hitchens was beat up by Jihadists.

Also, didn’t he say the earth was flat?

Tested FF 3.0.8 on both Windows XP Home, Windows XP Pro, and CENTOS 5.3 x86_64.

Bug in the Green Room. Commented, and, on the bottom of the link is “Comment awaiting moderation”. My “Comment awaiting moderation” replaced TTheoLogan’s (which also bore the same text). In other words, it appears that at least one “Comment awaiting moderation” is visible to everyone while it is queued for moderation. Perhaps the software doesn’t remove the line from the comment until after the comment appears, after permission is given for the comment to appear.

Allahpundit on April 13, 2009 at 1:10 PM

I assume the goal is to get more traffic, thus helping with revenues, right?

Listing a bunch of blog entries in order isn’t going to do a lot for that – ie getting indexed by search engines, etc.

You might want to allow users to post “tags” to each post and let people browse the green room by “tags” as they are created. Makes it easier for users to browse posts by topic, which in turn makes it easier for search engines to find as well.

Which would help traffic and the income.

That concept should really be added to the main site as well, but I suggested that eons ago too.

lorien1973 on April 13, 2009 at 1:14 PM

Indeed, “tags” are incredibly important for SEO (Search Engine Optimization)… I’ve always been rather surprised that HA hasn’t implemented them. Also, while I love witty headlines, headlines that are more straight forward are great for SEs as well.
