Roll Away The Stone – Tom Conry
They have been saying all our plans are empty.
They have been saying “Where is their God now?”
Roll away the stone, see the Glory of God. Roll away the stone…
They have been saying no one will remember.
They have been saying Power rules the world.
Roll away the stone, see the Glory of God. Roll away the stone…
They have been saying no one hears the singing.
They have been saying all our strength is gone.
Roll away the stone, see the Glory of God. Roll away the stone…
They have been saying “All of us are dying.”
They have been saying “All of us are dead.”
Roll away the stone, see the Glory of God. Roll away the stone…
That’s one of my favorite Easter hymns. We went to a more traditional parish for Easter vigil last night, so instead of this hymn, we were blessed by a marvelous choir singing Handel’s Messiah and other more traditional celebratory music. We also had an opportunity to welcome an old friend into the church last night; he had been an atheist his entire life, but last night completed his journey to the Lord with baptism, confirmation, and his first Eucharist. Afterwards, we enjoyed a warm reception at a mutual friend’s house that lasted into the wee hours of the night.
Today, we’ll spend our Easter Sunday with family. I hope yours is a blessed Easter, one that brings you closer to the Lord and the salvation of His resurrection.
Update: My good friend The Anchoress has spent Holy Week focusing on the spiritual. Be sure to read it all.

Anyone have the link to that Salon article on the crucifixion that was on Hot Air a few days ago?
For the life of me I can’t find it and my Googlefu has failed me completely.

Let’s all give praise to our chocolate bunny messiah and his marshmallow peeps disciples by ritually consuming them on the fake grass altar. Remember, it’s heresy not to eat the ears first.
And I guess the resurrection of Jesus should also be worthy of note.

If there’s anyone left here who would like to celebrate Easter by watching a live reenactment of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection, go to http://www.victory.com/watch and click on watch live service at 6 P.M. CDT (15 min from now). Saw it this morning. The church does a great job and for those who don’t really know the Gospel, the pastor narrates and shows the significance and ties with the Old Testament. Happy Easter.

Ed – Thanks for putting today in perspective. I’m afraid that enlightenment will descend upon you and this post will not be permitted 12 months (actually less) from now. God bless.

All in all, God is STILL in control. He wins as do those who believe in Him.
Thank you Lord for voluntarily giving up Your life on the cross for me and choosing me as a child of God before the foundation of the world. Amazing.

I appreciate the fact that our atheist, agnostic, and secular libertarian Hot Air contributors did not try to come on here and snark.
If this were a left of center blog, this kind of thing would have brought out the vermin.
Hot Air people are the best (even getalife, sometimes).
God Bless You All, and thanks for the terrific posts!

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with
the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes
there were two sets of footprints, other times there were
one set of footprints.
This bothered me because I noticed that during the low
periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish,
sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints.
So I said to the Lord, “You promised me Lord, that if I
followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have
noticed that during the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most, you have not been there for
me?”
The Lord replied, “The times when you have seen only one
set of footprints in the sand, is when I carried you.”
-Mary Stevenson 1936

Jesus is my Lord. Jesus is my Savior. He is my salvation. He is my strength and my perseverance. I am forgiven. We are forgiven. He is the light and the way. Jesus is risen. This I believe with all my heart and all my soul.
Happy Easter everyone.

i am the lone Christian in my home. But a friend asked this rusty-voiced one to sing in church yesterday. i don’t attend as i should – but it was a beautiful day. The best talk given by a 13 year old boy; heartfelt on what the resurrection meant to him. He is Risen, indeed. Happy Easter yesterday, today, and in upcoming days to all, of all faiths! No offense intended; merely joy and peace to all…

As a gentile volunteer with Jews For Jesus, I’m often asked for an Old Testament (Tenakh) summary of the Gospel, My favorite is Isaiah 53:6:
“All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.”
Wishing y’all a blessed Resurrection Day week, and ever after as well.
