Video: MSNBC devotes 13 minutes to “teabagging” puns

posted at 8:47 pm on April 11, 2009 by Allahpundit

I couldn’t bear to watch all the way through both clips, but from what I saw, the only reference to “tea bags” rather than “tea parties” comes from Griff Jenkins on Fox News. Ah well, fodder enough for not one but two segments in primetime on the left’s cable news net of choice. This reminds me of the “fishsticks” joke on South Park last week: Amusing the first time you hear it, increasingly tedious every time thereafter — which was part of the satire on SP but seems lost on Maddow. I give her credit, though, for her choice of guests. There’s no one better equipped to deal with this topic than Cox, who pioneered the art of beating ribald humor to death with her constant mentions of anal on Wonkette. Well done, ladies.

I was going to post about ASU surrendering to the left’s death threats by announcing a new scholarship in Obama’s name, but that seemed too depressing for a Saturday night so I went with this instead. Feel free to comment on either below.

My Letter of Resignation.

You folks at HA just don’t “get it” do you?

After posting here for over 4 years, I’m moving on.
Yea, I know, big deal were busy being witty and clever, now go away.

There’s something “wrong” with this site as of late. Too many trolls and astroturffers are welcomed without “management” rebutting their constant and obvious lies.

With a few exceptions, (Hawkdriver, MadCon, Upinak, Cindy Munford, Jim Treacher comes to mind…and many others), I can’t stomach it any longer. I’ve looked the other way for months, but this thread and it’s commenters has sent me over the top.

After 4 years of having my “homepage” set to HA, I’ve just changed it to “Bighollywood” where one can discuss the current events of the day without the consist “zig and zag” of conservative eating conservative, the belittling of the conservative message and the moral decline of conservative ideals. And, mostly, those constant annoying, lying, disrupting, thread high jacking, kool-aid drinking green skinned, wet footed, fuzzy, foul smelling creatures that live under the bridge P’sOS.

Over the years I’ve defended AP when folks have attacked him in his own “house” (and have been “whacked” for it for doing so without comment from our host), but I can no longer defend the indefensible.

Beck bashing, Palin bashing, old white guy dressed as founding father bashing, “Tea Party” bashing, generally “conservative bashing” has made it necessary for me to go to a place where conservatives are welcomed and appreciated.

It’s Over, for here.

13 minutes on “tea bagging” puns.

Not one minute about how Obama is “F’ing” over the country. And I mean that literally.

British Papers reporting that Obama’s brother is linked to a sex attack on a 13 year old girl. They are not pulling any punches describing Obama’s “family”. I LOVE the Cows line. Way classy Daddy!

Obama’s father had four wives, and fathered eight children. His first wife Mum Kezia was only 15 when he purchased her from her family for 14 cows. With this wife he fathered Abongo, Auma, Bernard, and Abo who goes by Samson.

Barack Obama Sr. then married Ann Dunham while still married to his first wife. Ann was the daughter of two hard-core Marxists and believed she was striking a blow against the establishment by having sex with non-white men. She gave birth to Barack. Obama Sr. then abandoned her and she filed for divorce. Immediately after the divorce she married an Indonesian man. Obama Sr. then married a second white leftist, Ruth Nidesand. She returned to Nairobi with Obama Sr. She had two kids with him, David and Mark, before leaving him and marrying another African man.

Only 14 cows for a 15 year old girl.

Perhaps it is too late to ask, but please, stay.

I ask because it’s the only just thing to do.

It seems to seep into everything else in this world. It seems to have been hastened with the new administration. Insanity and Chaos seem to seep in to every aspect of life, and the natural tendency is to back away.

I ask, in the same impassioned manner as Abe Lincoln would, to endure. If only to hold one’s ground. If only to assert one’s position. If only to say that this insanity cannot be rationalized and realized. If it happens here, it will only continue.

If there were any justice in this world, I would guarantee victory. Alas, I’m not sure, but I’d rather be proven wrong than simply to assume such.

So I ask: Endure!

Maddow is essentially Olberman in drag. Or is it the other way around?

vcferlita on April 12, 2009 at 8:03 AM

1GooDDaDDy on April 12, 2009 at 12:26 AM

I have two rules of thumb when it comes to joining or leaving a community like this.

1. When you join, post as if you’ve been there forever. No formal introductions necessary; nobody cares, generally.

2. When it’s time to go, just leave, because, generally, nobody will care, and you’re only inviting insults when you make a drama out of it.

That said, I don’t really disagree with much that 1GooDDaDDy said about the state of things. Except Big Hollywood’s got its own problems, too: John Nolte can be kind of a dick sometimes, and there are plenety of comment trolls and lots of intra-conservative back biting, too. Big Hollywood is not the conservative Utopian alternative to Hot Air.

I bet more people show up to the tea bag tax rallies than listen to Air America. As far as that is concerned attendance might well outnumber the viwership of msnbc.

Terrye on April 12, 2009 at 8:40 AM

I think fossten is right. A few trolls here and there are not a big deal. People disagreeing with each other is not a big deal. But when people like getalife and deathtomediahacks make a habit of denigrating the regular readership on a regular basis, it makes you wonder what the point is to commenting.

Hey, there! Of course your correct point has merit.

Allahpundit needs to admit his own PERSPECTIVE as Ace noted.

Allap relates best with vindictive juvenile delinquents and is irritated beyond measure by signs of integrity, himself lacking. And “the boss” blogsite owner loves her rabid Peter Pan as if a Wendy; weird attraction–a generation cultural thang.

Though Allap is a saboteur mental commodity too expensive for Constitutional America to afford, he prides himself in being “first” to post news. Being “first” has responsibilities that, alas, Peter pAllap repudiates.

But don’t dismiss Ed Morrissey‘s contributions online, particularly since “the boss” decides “what matters” by which way the thread count goes. Your boycott of Allap would have greater affect should you stick with Ed’s posts and contribute to Ed’s comment threads.

Granted, for simplicity’s sake, too bad Captain’s Quarters dissolved. But life ain’t simple; and you know that, 1GoodDaddy.

maverick muse on April 12, 2009 at 9:14 AM

When this Madcow talks about the biggest tax cut ever, is she referring to the $400 a year thing that Obidork threw out to appease the undereducated. So, if I pay about 30% a year in taxes (you know, real estate, sales, income (st, fed, local), on gas, and most everything else we buy has taxes built in, I’m suppose to get all exited by a $400 a year tax? Especially since there are so many new taxes about to be created (on energy for example)?
-
Madcow is a loser big government shill, and an Obama sock puppet. No TEA for her…
-

RalphyBoy on April 12, 2009 at 9:14 AM

Think about it:

Matthews – who gets a “tingle up his leg” for Obama,
Olbermann – who has an ego the size of Paul Begala’s forehead,
Maddow - who would rather screw Palin and then screw Palin,
and David Shuster, the Moron and puppet of Olbermann.
What a NETWORK is A-MESS-NBC.

ASU can’t apologize fast enough or do enough to stop this insanity.

Plus, the poor university administrators are getting a Palin dose of media treatment. They try to explain that they decided not to give politicians honorary degrees due to political pressure on the university, and the headlines scream: “ASU pressured to not give Obama degree.”

Regrettably, I agree with you. Although I am encouraged that I don’t seem to be the only person who has come to this realization in the last couple of years. I think part of this is due to the Repubs no longer being in power and setting the agenda.

Regardless, I still visit this site, but not nearly as much as I used to, and I refrain from reading many of the comments in the Comments sections, as I know exactly what will be said in terms of tone and content, and there’s no need to unnecessarily raise my blood pressure.

asc85 on April 12, 2009 at 10:28 AM

The snark factor on any Maddow piece is always through the roof — I had trouble getting to the 2 minute mark on this clip. She epitomizes the term insufferable.

I am heartened by the fact that the Dem operatives at MSNBC feel the need to start ridiculing the Tea Party movement; it means that ignoring it has failed.

Next, they will feel the need to fight it, and then….

MadCon isn’t a conservative. He’s a libertarian astroturfer himself. Furthermore, it seems that you and other people like you want Allah to just ban any liberal who regularly comments on this site. If that’s the case, don’t let the door hit you on your way out. I hate liberals but banning them would turn hotair into kos (assuming it’s not kos already). Turning hotair into one giant circle jerk isn’t the solution. Liberals ban conservatives from their sites because they fear opposition. Let’s not turn into them.

Darth Executor on April 12, 2009 at 10:40 AM

Some of us who are here due to the open enrollment do try to be respectful, you guys. I disagree quite often but manage NOT to engage on those topics a lot of the time.

There are some true trolls here, but there’s personal responsibility at work, too. If you play with them, then that derails threads.

AnninCA on April 12, 2009 at 10:44 AM

It’s a shame if 1GooDDaDDy is really leaving. Especially before explaining how an anti-anti-tea party post is the same as an ant-tea party post. As AP might say, “nuance.”

Meanwhile, the site’s traffic is headed back up to its pre-election all-time records, while the traffic at dKos is way down, almost to where Hot Air is. The influx of trolls with a round of registration notwithstanding, I would suggest there are plenty of people from the center rightward coming to HotAir as the reality of the Obama Administration settles in, while a satisfied Left feels less need to huddle together at dKos.

The jockeying for position among factions, leaders and spokespeople on the right is nothing new. What is new is this is the first time the GOP has been in the minority in Congress and the Presidency since the rise of the Internet, which allows everyone to see the arguments more transparently. You can think that’s a bad thing and try to live in an echo chamber where this doesn’t happen, in which case it will go on without you. Or you can live in the real world, with your voice adding to the conversation.

Karl on April 12, 2009 at 11:02 AM

Liberals ban conservatives from their sites because they fear opposition. Let’s not turn into them.

Darth Executor on April 12, 2009 at 10:40 AM

AP has never banned anynoe for having a different political view (unless that view is racial). But there is an increased propensity for threads to be filled with personal degradation in a way that is changing the nature of the comments.

Maybe that’s inevitable with increased traffic, but I don’t think letting trolls call R’s “white trash” etc prevents a circle jerk. Nor is it a fear of opposition. It’s merely setting some standard for the site. And make no mistake, there is a standard on this site – as objection to monikers for Obama and others show.

Spirit of 1776 on April 12, 2009 at 11:07 AM

You can think that’s a bad thing and try to live in an echo chamber where this doesn’t happen, in which case it will go on without you. Or you can live in the real world, with your voice adding to the conversation.

Again, a rhetoric trick of creating a false choice. When people were banned here for racially tinged comments about M.Malkin, did that qualify as creating an “echo chamber”? Qualified as a private company holding a standard for the enjoyment of commenting with like-minded individuals.

Can’t rant about people and attack their ethnicity/culture (yes, this includes caucasians) – then you aren’t living in the real world?

Spirit of 1776 on April 12, 2009 at 11:11 AM

Of course, people come and go. But I don’t see any reason why any business would not want to hear feedback from it’s longtime customers. Even if it is moving in a different direction intentionally.

So there is no need to castigate people who leave. Or be unwelcoming to newbies either for that matter.

Spirit of 1776 on April 12, 2009 at 11:14 AM

There are some posts that aren’t worthy of even looking at because of all the trash talk from astroturfers and surprise! That’s the trolls goal! Even back a few months ago trolls were banned from the site for being ugly and now, unless you personally offend Alah, anything goes- pages and pages of garbage. I like to keep up with the news here, but I’m finding myself going to other sites more often than I use to.

anniekc on April 12, 2009 at 11:37 AM

See ya ’round 1GD – I hear ya loud and clear. I was also someone who stepped up to defend APs snarky foil to Ed’s (and Bryan’s before) meat and taters. If you weren’t around in the AP/BP days, the site WAS different, and arguably much better. Plus that, you have no BASIS to denigrate someone who was. I see comments now at sites like JOM that also reflect folks’ disillusionment that HA may have jumped the shark much sooner than hoped. I visit less and comment much less, mostly because of the signal to noise issue. You don’t care – I get it. Save it. Happy Easter.

I beg to differ I believe some dildos come with balls.

Juvenile jokes are expected from people who voted for a guy because “he is cool.” It’s the same people who think you can rehabilitate murderers and make world peace by singing kumbaya with dictators. Really, what do you expect?

What the two women in the video failed to understand is that watching two butches talking about “teabagging” overshadows the original joke.

Michelle Dubois on April 12, 2009 at 12:32 PM

I followed Ed over here. Allah does something that needs doing, which is to challenge our assumptions. There was a lot of wishful thinking around here during the campaign and it was useful for Allah to put the negative polling data out there.

Having said that, the trolls around here are a real drag. I don’t mind mixing up with lefties who actually try to make a point, but the “Dale Earnhardt died for your sins” and the “Caribou Barbie and her klassy krew” type comments is just bigotry from the opposite end of the telescope. I’ve never seen where going out of one’s way to antagonize other people is anyting other than crappy behavior. It’s not clever. In fact, it’s really rather sad and cowardly, especially since most of the trolls are anonymous.

I don’t bother with Kos or Huffpo, so I don’t know if there are similar folks on our side of the aisle who go over there to throw turds in their punchbowls, but it’s no good either way. Devil’s advocates are highly useful and necessary. Snarky yet dim-witted trolls, not so much.

Obama’s father had four wives, and fathered eight children. His first wife Mum Kezia was only 15 when he purchased her from her family for 14 cows.

I didn’t realize Obama came from money on both sides of his parentage.

And wasn’t his maternal grandmother a banker? That’s an interesting combo: Marxist Banker. No wonder why Obama wants to take over the banks? Just fulfilling his family heritage.

By your leaving you have allowed the trolls to win. I know it’s tedious to have to muddle thru ignorant and pointless posts, but, I still maintain by responding to them gives them credence AND fodder to feed on. Once I got the gist of what nicks belonged to the trolls, I don’t even read them. I scroll right by them, much as I do the posters who respond to them (you can usually tell in the first sentence or two whether or not the post is on topic). I am interested in the posts that voice opinions of the highlighted topic, be it pro or con. I want to know what people are thinking. If the thought provoking responders leave, then we’ve turned HA into what? kos or some other leftist propaganda? or worst case, HA begins barren and empty which would be a shame.

ladyhawke53 on April 12, 2009 at 4:19 PM

FWIW – I love this site. I rarely comment, or read them for that matter, so I am not bothered by the trolls. I visit many times a day because I love the stories, and the humor.

My opinion is don’t let the trolls win. Don’t engage, and don’t let them drive you away. That is what they are trying to do.

Don’t let hateful little trolls ruin another great site.

sarainitaly on April 12, 2009 at 5:26 PM

If the problem were only trolls.

However, I am glad that AP and company do not block the trolls. Unlike KOS, dissent is permitted here.

Note, is that Cox? Geez, when did she have the sex change? Yikes!

The Opinionator on April 12, 2009 at 5:51 PM

Here’s my prediction, some leftist fruitcake(s) will start a giant ruckus at a tea party(s) to try to discredit anyone who protests the Government and attempt to make those that protest look like raving lunatics.

nelsonknows on April 12, 2009 at 5:56 PM

Is it me or does Cox look like she’s aged 10 years. She looks like she’s in her mid 40s. Isn’t she 35 or something? She was good-looking during her Wonkette days. Now, not so much.

Not to mention her face.

It’s not just you. I was thinking the same thing. Her entire appearance has changed dramatically from ‘Wonkette’ 5 years ago. It’s like she morphed from a really cute chick into Richie Cunningham.

I’m now convinced Rachel is, in fact, a man.

It’s just guy humor….what you say that wasn’t two men? So sorry for them.

Blech. I tried to watch. Truly tried. Listening to two ugly lesbians pratter on about tea-bagging though was too much to take.

Yes, I miss the old days at Hot Air as well. We had a few liberals here then, but they were relatively well informed, fairly polite and as rational as it is possible for a person to be yet still be a liberal.

They made for some good discussions and maybe even changed some minds. There are still a few of them around that are challenging to debate. But most of them aren’t worth the energy to scroll over, much less read.

In fact, there are several that are so stupid, so obnoxious and so juvenile; yet so persistent that I find it difficult to believe they are even real people…… Real people of such limited intellect would tend to be distracted by shiny things or get too wrapped up in their gameboys and comic books to keep posting here so constantly.

And they sound so much alike, I can’t but wonder if they are HA management sock-puppets who are here just to be so obnoxiously stupid to keep the page hit counts up. A few dozen pieces of boilerplate idiocy, cut and pasted over and over, with an occasional word changed to make it seem like it might actually be on topic.

It is kind of funny… I was literally thrilled when HotAir opened up so that I could find an intellectual refuge from the nastiness of trolls and internecine fights between the fundamentalists and those who don’t wear their religion on their sleeves at Free Republic.

HotAir was, for the first year or so a wonderful place, and I spent many hours here every day, and read every thread and every comment. Now I just scan the headlines and rarely open the thread unless I think I have something of value to say on the subject or a ‘hit and run snark’.

C’mon now – The Great One is great but, I was calling her “Madcow” when she was still spewing and bloviating on Air America.

In fact, he stole it after accepting an on-air call from me.

Ok, maybe not.

harry flashman on April 13, 2009 at 2:59 AM

1GooDDaddy’s post prompted me to read more posts. I learned tea bagging is a naughty verb. I am sorry to have learned this. Maddow is a naughty person for the reference. I listened to the first clip again and now I understand it. I had to turn it off, because now it is disgusting. I guess we need to know this stuff so we are not taken advantage of, it is just too bad out enemies have to be perverts.

ctmom

I feel your pain. Your post made me look it up.

AP: I appreciate your views. Makes me think. The sex stuff is sometimes too much. I guess the Maddow clips were necessary because they brought it out.

Grunch42 on April 13, 2009 at 7:58 AM

Ahh, the classic reaction from the left: ridicule. Oh no! Don’t make fun of us!

lungfungus on April 13, 2009 at 9:14 AM

The Creator of Worlds will link this Frum quote for the QotD I predict…..but this is pretty much what is wrong with the GOP–

As a result, much of what passes for intellectual life on the right is a product for local consumption only, like those Argentine-made television sets that could exist only behind the old Peronist tariff walls. Unlike Hayek and Friedman, it has no impact at all on the thinking of those not already committed to the ideology from which it emerges. It’s a sorry situation, and it has very ominous real world consequences: It means that conservatism as a body of ideas will not attract the best minds among the young and open, in the way that it was often able to do in previous generations.

The GOP is out of ideas and out of touch, culture-deaf. That is why Gallaghers marriage promotion got cluelessly named after a ghey men Craig’s list advert, 2M4M, and the tea-parties can be hilariously mocked as a raunchy sex act.
It’s all echo chamber all the time.

strangelet on April 13, 2009 at 9:37 AM

Uh, Rachel, Keith, and Chris know NOTHING about the anatomy, as it relates to teabagging. Stick to hackery.

marklmail on April 13, 2009 at 9:45 AM

Rachel Maddow. Fairly Imbalanced.

Good to see her reaching out to the opposition. I mean, not that she’s only taking 1 side of an issue.

Speaking of Mark Levin, I went to the local Barnes & Noble and couldn’t find his latest book. But there were around 12 Obama books, and they were on displays all over the place.

hawksruleva on April 13, 2009 at 10:15 AM

Those two ugly bull dikes obviously wish they had tea bagging equipment.

MadCow, Olbermann and Mathews personify the lying Left. How can anyone stand to watch them? How do they have any credibility? They RARELY have opposing viewpoints on their shows. They’re a joke.
