Newest source of left’s pretend fear/outrage: Tea parties
posted at 5:03 pm on April 10, 2009 by Allahpundit
Link via Ace, who seems willing to believe the fear is genuine. Maybe that’s true for the dimmer bulbs among them but for most I’m sure this is standard calculated faux-horror designed to frame the event as suspect, illegitimate, and otherwise unsuitable for mainstream political consumption. Kind of like how Olbermann is forever referring to the “far right” or the “fringe right.” For people who claim to object so profoundly to the politics of fear, they sure are good at it.
Anyway, Legal Insurrection previews the tedious, inevitable nutroots reaction to next week’s rallies:
The Huffington Post is organizing “citizen journalists” to attend the protests, allegedly to “report.” Which means that they will try to find someone in a crowd who says something stupid, will post it on the internet, and build an argument around it trying to demonize the movement. And left-wing bloggers will react in unison like dogs responding to a whistle, about the “dangerous” and “violent” and “racist” tea parties. This tactic is as old as time; or at least as old as the internet.
Follow the link to Ace up top for the latest on the scourge of insidious “anti-Obama activities” that are destroying our country from within. Meanwhile, here’s a video — swiped from a different post of Ace’s — by Andrew Klavan, the guy responsible for the Limbaugh challenge. I don’t know what made me think of adding it to a post about fake liberal outrage.
Update: The boss was all over this days ago:
It’s already happened once before — at the Denver anti-porkulus rally last month, when the Media Matters/Daily Kos crowd shifted media attention away from the policy message by manufacturing fake outrage about some stunt-puller who showed up with a sign comparing Obama to Hitler that I didn’t see and asked for a picture. The local newspaper, the Rocky Mountain News, took the bait…
As Beckel signaled, leftists are going to use fear-mongering to paint mainstream taxpayers who believe in the Second Amendment, the Constitution, limited government, low taxes, and fiscal responsibility as fringe wackos. They have already exploited the Binghamton and Pittsburgh shooting sprees for political gain. They have no shame. Be prepared. Confront them with their own rank hypocrisy and unhingedness. Don’t get distracted. And don’t let your local media get away with lazily recycling their smears.

Amen. The analogy I draw is the idea of America as a huge wagon being pulled across the prarie. Once upon a time, everyone pulled together. Over time, however, some were allowed to ride in the wagon. No problem, the ones that remained pulling, just pulled harder.
Now, there are more people riding than there are pulling. Well, I am pulling to the tune of 35% of my income, in FICA alone. Forget all the other taxes that I am a victim of. As CCR said; “When you ask, how much should I give, they only answer”; MORE, MORE, MORE.
I am damned tired of pulling and pulling, while the people who ride in the wagon, castigate and demean me. Damn tired.

I have spent hundreds of hours over the last month or so organizing and coordinating the Boston Tax Day Tea Party happening at the Massachusetts State House on Wednesday (4/15). I can tell you three facts you will never hear from the media:
This is not a GOP event. I can assure you, no matter how difficult and distasteful it has been at times, I have managed to work alongside Libertarians (and even Democrats) to pull this thing off.
This is not a corporate event. If you need proof, I’ll send you my bank statement.
This is an event that provides a platform for people who have had enough of an inept and incompetent and unresponsive government and are ready for, dare I say it, change. (Some of them thought they had voted for it and they are furious they did not get it – I’d stay out of their way if I was ACORN.)
It is entirely possible that the thousands of people that will gather in Boston next Wednesday to express their particular outrage will be confronted by an ugly, ignorant mob of counter protesters. But I highly doubt it. I think the site of hundreds of families picnicking on the Boston Common, (or trudging through puddles), commiserating over the appalling state of our government and its leadership and planning, basically, a coup for 2010, would encourage them to keep their mouths shut. And if not, the city and Park Rangers have assured me that they will handle it. It’s amazing what a smile and pleasant tone will get you – even at Boston’s City Hall.
If you’re in the Boston area and want to attend, join us at the State House/Boston Common on Beacon Street from 11:30 AM – 4:00 PM.

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
Unless, of course, the Constitution means nothing to the Left…
coldwarrior on April 10, 2009 at 5:17 PM
Pay close attention to the word “peaceably“.
I do not doubt that those attending the Tea Parties will do so peaceably. However a word of warning. Beware of “agents provocateurs”.
There are those who would love to see one or more of these Tea Parties turn into riots that require calling in the National Guard to control the “violent right-wing radicals”.
It may still be early, but if this movement continues to build, the One will be looking for an excuse shut down conservatives to save us from ourselves.

One late thing I’ve noticed is the use of “Necks”. We’re not Rednecks anymore. She calls us “necks”. That is so Deb Frisch.
What do I win if it turns out to be her? I think Ed or Allah should let me pick a thread topic and it would be of course, DEB FRISCH. aka capitulus.
PS
I guess she thought I’d feel bad if she pointed out that misconception that warrants aren’t officers. She tries so hard to “know”. I honestly believe if it weren’t for Google, she’d really have no other reference of the world than what her and her grill partner Sean at Burger King talk about.

Tea parties are great and if enough people turn out it’ll have some effect but so far nothing has deterred the fat cat liberal establishment from methodically dismantling our liberty and instituting their most craven, Orwellian, authoritarian regime desires.
Speakup on April 10, 2009 at 6:29 PM
I’m a contributer to a local tea party event that has grown tremendously in a very short period of time. This is a non-partisan Pro-American Values movement.
Our plan to deal with the ACORN’s and other sundry fruits and nuts that will attempt to crash:
Following an example by a Baptist Church that faced a protest by pro-gay activists, they were prepared and ordered extra donuts and coffee awaiting their arrival. Many of them turned and walked away in shame.
We are purchasing large amounts of bottled water and protein rich snacks for them to enjoy along with the rest of us. It can get pretty hot down here so we figured we’d be proactive. We are more than prepared to deal with the lunatic fringe. Personally, I hope to run into a Code Pink gal but I hope it won’t show its breasts.
Wish us luck!

I CAN’T WAIT TILL THE 15th!!!
I’ve never in my life attend a protest, I feel like such a liberal, I get to take off a day in the middle of the week, paid, and bitch and moan, just like a liberal!
All kidding aside, we need to make our voices heard, I’m sick of the leftist monopoly on protest. Why do they fear this? Easy answer, they mass on one location, and act like idiots, we will mass all across the nation and conduct ourselves like citizens.
We are not asking for special treatment on a given issue, we are demanding the respect of our government and for them to leave our wallets alone, and to actually obey the founding documents. They are not an outline, they are the law, they are not for us to obey, they are for the government to obey.
This is step one. Perhaps the next step would be to start up some community organizing, I hear the government will pour billions in to that. Maybe we should read Alinski’s Rules For Radicals, then apply the principles toward our goals. Beat them with their own stick.
In Annapolis, where I’ll be, I doubt that any racist, anti-Semitic, bigot crap will be tolerated buy those at the protest, but if you must…
This will be a day for the average American, believe it or not, we do have a voice.

And btw, I don’t think that Obama and his friends should get too comfortable with the polls. They have him anywhere from 56% to 66%, but that is almost exactly where Bush was at the same time in his presidency. And Bush did not try to stop anyone from speaking their mind. He did not try to shut down debate or freedom of expression. That sort of thing could create a backlash that would add the backlash growing over the spending.
