Canadian wise-ass: Obama’s apologism for America is “appalling”

posted at 9:17 pm on April 9, 2009 by Allahpundit

You don’t have to be Canadian to agree. In fact, it probably helps if you’re not.

“From my perspective as a conservative, feel-good foreign policy is not leadership. It is arrogant and naive at the same time,” said Mary Matalin, a longtime political adviser to Mr. Bush and his father.

“And from my perspective as an American citizen, it is demoralizing. He is going to pound our sense of exceptionalism out of us if it’s the last thing he does,” she said.

Guys, I don’t want to ruin this dude’s career or anything, but … I feel obliged to mention that David Frum’s a big fan. Sorry, Crowder!

Back in the late 80′s my dad (and the rest of my family!) was stationed north of Watertown, NY at what was formerly called Camp Drum then dubbed Fort Drum due to the transfer of troops from Ft. Benning, GA. When the base expanded, there were a number of Canadians “bracing” for a US invasion via the now heavily trooped upstate base. Hilarious!

(Props to all in the 10th Mountain Div serving overseas!)

While Barack Obama is still a relatively young man, he can remember anything that America has ever done wrong that he can apologize for whether it ever happened or not, but his faculties will someday decay and then he won’t be able to remember anything that America has ever done wrong that he can apologize for but the things that never happened.

America has always been the beacon of saftey and protection,

cthulhu on April 9, 2009 at 10:42 PM

I think we need a fence on the northern border as well.

HornetSting on April 9, 2009 at 9:19 PM

Too expensive. The northern border is something like twice as long as the one down south, and by sheer location issues alone presents construction problems totally different.

Best example-to build a fence on the northern side, the fenceposts would have to be sunk well below the frost line. That is almost 6 feet down up there.

$$$

Right now the northern boundaty is marked by a wide swath cut thru the woods here in northern New England. But when you get to northern Maine, there are numerous places moles could get thru. Between northern Vermont and northern Maine, there are only less than 20 border crossings in a borderline of over 500 miles.

Del Dolemonte on April 9, 2009 at 10:50 PM

“I heard the word surrender, me too.”

I never thought about it that way. Canada should be cheering America. I would love to see the rest of the world have to pony up a real defense budget. I just wish we pulled our Navy back and defended our interests only. American ship, ships carrying American goods to another country, or ships carrying goods to America. Let Germany project its military power to the horn of Africa, Saudi Arabia, or France, or Sweden. Betcha they start appreciating America if pirates got alot meaner, smarter and they could not depend on us.

I talked to a Canadian who’d been to Iraq. He was into guns. Visiting the U.S., he was kind of careful about talking politics, but we were on the same wavelength. What a neat dude. You can always tell a guy who’s been in the military or the police. There’s something different about them. They don’t talk BS and they know what’s going on.

Always felt positive about Canadian people, like they’re our brothers to the North. Loathed the politics, but we’re all in the same boat now. Non-imbeciles know and appreciate Canada’s help in the war.

It’s really interesting that so many people here want Crowder taking up the Vent mantle because I was talking about this very idea with a guy named Bryan the weekend before last…

The fact is that Vents were pioneering but wa-a-a-a-a-a-ay ahead of their time; you can easily see the Vent influence in Zo and Crowder. Technically the Vents were much more professional looking and sounding compared to Zo or Crowder, but they all share a similar vibe.

Not that you asked for my armchair analysis but I believe that Vents are gone forever. HotAir.com has definitely evolved from what it was initially. Michelle was always the gold standard for Vents but they were not produced by her turning on a video camera in the spare room and freestylin’ in front of blanket. She has neither the time nor technical crew to put together a Vent video per week now. Zo would be good for a Vent but is financially tied to PJTV so that’s not an option. Crowder could be the best chance for a relaunch of the Vent but why? HotAir.com isn’t known for weekly Vents to anyone other than us Day One types, Crowder is already getting plenty of views for his videos from the weekly Allah linkage, and enjoys complete editorial autonomy on all of his videos. There would have to be some financial incentive for Crowder to produce some exclusive HotAir.com content because that would be, as Blago might say, a “f–kin’ valuable thing.”

Crowder’s talented that’s for certain. I say as long as Crowder keeps bringing the funny every week and Allah keeps linking to him, we should support him.
