When I lived in New Jersey, a favorite radio station of mine was NJ1015, Jim Gearhart used to sign off his show with, “When the last person leaves New Jersey, please turn off the lights”!
This a appropriate and identical to New York and other North Eastern states that tax the sh!t out of everyone.
Why do liberals consider this home? If we take a look at the states that have the highest taxes, property, sales, food, breathing, you have it, we can tax it. It is class envy, warfare, call it what you like, it sucks!
Speaking of cats. I decided that my new little pound purr flame point siamese, who I called Bimbo (as she is just a litle over a year and had 2 litters and I am her 4th home)… is now Turd. And the sad part is she comes to the name Turd. :|
Accomplishments:
- Spent more than $50,000 in city funds to redecorate her office as Mayor of Wasilla
- Increased Spending by 55% as Mayor of Wasilla
- Secured $27 million in Federal Earmarks as Mayor of Wasilla
- Raised the Sales Tax by 25% as Mayor of Wasilla
- Racked up $20 Million in Long Term Debt as Mayor of Wasilla
- Supported building the ‘Bridge to Nowhere’ as Governor of Alaska
- Kept $223 Million in Federal Earmarks for the ‘Bridge to Nowhere’ as Governor of Alaska
- Increased Spending by 31% as Governor of Alaska
- Requested $456 Million in Federal Earmarks as Governor of Alaska
- Alaska’s State Economic Freedom Ranking Dropped from 33 to 45 as Governor of Alaska
- Alaska Ranked 48 out of 50 as one of The Worst States for Business as Governor of Alaska
- Raised Taxes on Oil Profits to 25% as Governor of Alaska
- Requested $642 Million of Federal Stimulus Money as Governor of Alaska
Why do liberals consider this home? If we take a look at the states that have the highest taxes, property, sales, food, breathing, you have it, we can tax it. It is class envy, warfare, call it what you like, it sucks!

I grew up in Phila and now am in the burbs. They’ve never elected a Republican there as long as I have been alive and then some. Every year taxes increase or services get cut. Businesses leave there in droves. Still, not a soul contemplates electing anyone with an R next to their names. What is the definition of insanity?
Kini on April 9, 2009 at 1:25 AM
I’d like to leave Mass. but the job, wife, kids and family ties always trump common sense. Maybe this years property tax bill of just under 8K will drive us to our senses…
As far as the trolls go, the word must have come down from the White House internet goon squads to target HotAir, because this past weekend it was mentioned in almost all of the Lefties sites along with Glenn Beck, Hannity and of course Rush. It was like a sugar rush right after diving into the loot the Easter Bunny left in your basket! These people so overdosed on mentioning HA that it was obvious the hounds were going to be released even worse than they have been for the last month.
Dittos to the vow to ignore! That is probably the best idea all the way around. So whatever is going on at Dear Leader’s Pad in Washington; we must be getting a tad under their skin. Plus, the whole blame Conservatives deal at the Kos has really caused some Libs to go, “Say WHAT?”
Do not forget this tea party thing is not just “R” or “D” driven, it is an American thing. When all Americans gather, that is bad news for the teenagers running the show in Washington. Some, who are not Conservatives, are actually cruising around to see what we are all about. NO KIDDING! So if we get distracted by trolls, that is just going to run off some curious minds that might not find us not so revolting after all.
Lots of shock and disenchantment going on out there in Obamazombieland. Not nearly enough, but enough to cause some to want to see what we think and what we have planned to combat the insanity that could destroy this stupendous nation.
HornetSting on April 9, 2009 at 1:23 AM
At this time, our nation could really use some direction. If she is only licking her ass at this point, she is more qualified than Obama.
carbon_footprint on April 9, 2009 at 1:27 AM
Back Story:
I was blogging during the last Obama/totus news conference and we were talking about how inept Obama was and I made mention: My cat is licking her ass right now, but after she is done, she is happy to take over obama’s job for a slight wage increase. And we all agreed that she would do a better job. She’s just a bit too expensive.
This isn’t even the half of it. When I adopted her she was in heat for 4 weeks and had a cold in the middle of it. I had to wait for her cold to get better so she could go to SPCA to get spayed. She was a total BIMBO! She would try to mate with everything.
I also have another cat named Bubba, who I think is mentally disabled… he isn’t there but is a love bug, put has some issues as I think he was abused and he is also a pound kitty. I caught them “mating” which shcoked the crap out of me because I didn’t think he was smart enough. I caught him humping her head and then he finally figured it out.
At my house, there is always something silly going on. I need to get Bubba a dog though…. he thinks he is one.
Neils voice makes me want to cough for him. He was or is a sick fella. Anyone recall what the illness was or is.
I’ve always liked Cavuto. I fear he’s sicker than
we know . . . .Just my observation.
As far as Rush goes. I’m mega ditto-Head.

I have a 155 pound Great Dane ‘Boston’ named Bubba. He is afraid of thunderstorms. It is really fun when we have those infamous Texas thunderstorms and Bubba get’s spooked and decides that he wants to sit on my face. Needless to say, I only get a few hours of rest on those nights.
I think he has MS, if I’m not mistaken. And yes, he has a horrible scratchy throat right now. I love Cavuto, and with Glenn right behind him, it’s a special treat.
Cavuto was on O’Reilly a few days back and sounded ok, could be a cold or allergies. I always suffer at this time of the year due to the mold from the melt and the dust from the roads.

When occasionally HotAir opens up to new members, various pol-ops reserve themselves a chunk of names to use as needed
Not everyone on this site, who sounds like a troll, who talks like a 12 year old, who tries to pull arguments into the bushes is a troll. They are more likely political sock puppets trying to divert attention from good talking points that might spread
Pesonally, when I communicate with HotAir, I am often just talking to MM vicariously. I don’t waste too much time on the puppets unless there is some small reason to diminish them to the general audience who may not know the games being played
Most of the good players are still here and I enjoy reading them between the puppets
In the case of Rush, He is right on target. He likes Palin and he doesn’t like many of the current (GOP) crop. Of course the (GOP) powers that be have let him know they like him not much
At a store this week (in Michigan) I met some folk from Alaska. When shoppers heard where they were from they were peppered with questions, about the weather, the wildness, and the Alaska economy. One of the Alaskans was asked if they still had jobs up there. Yes, he replied, but we have a great governor unlike your governor Granholm.
The polyps have been desperately trying to plant seeds that Palin is a pathetic loser, but she has huge respect from those she represents, and she does them a lot better than the governor of NY state, or my governor Granholm does their constituents
It is a vulgar crass act for a sitting governor to make a public statement of joy that anyone is leaving his State for political differences. A person with class would say he regretted Mr.Limbaugh leaving and hoped he would one day return to his fine State. As it is, why would anyone want to move to NY knowing the Governor is capable of singling out people for ridicule
OK went back to the beginning of this thread, who let the trolls out? Cripes, what are Ed and Allah thinking?

Rush and Cavuto had a ripping discussion on taxation and freedom, and I hit the comments looking for something intelligent, and the first thing I see is people tired of the trolls. So I go to page one of the comments, and the discussion is no more about taxation and freedom, but about the stupidity of graffiti done here.
If the goal is to allow the flight of conversation to be hijacked to bring attention to the disaster of it all, then drive on.
If the goal is to keep people focused on what’s important so that we can change America for the better, then banning is oh so appropriate.
(Yeah, it’d be great if people would ignore the trolls, but that’s like expecting people not to rubberneck an freak accident on the freeway so that traffic doesn’t slow down.)
Silly me. NYC will get a bailout. So Rush will pay after all.
Spirit of 1776 on April 8, 2009 at 10:39 PM
No he won’t. He’ll be moving away from the US Dollar at the early signs of inflation and therefore will not suffer the inflation from the debasing of the currency.
Meanwhile, that corpulent drug-addict is worried about his his tax bill.
Revealing.
capitulus on April 8, 2009 at 10:39 PM
The assumption here, it seems to me, is that you don’t approve of him (specifically) and thus anyone (generally) shouldn’t worry about their tax bill. Which is also revealing in the sense that it is yours, his…ours well before the government’s possesion. The idea that someone wouldn’t be worried about their money before confiscation is quite the foreign concept to me. Explanation is warranted here.
And if you care to argue/discuss principles over the matter, I would be happy to oblige. I have yet to see any of the Aristotlean tradition from you on any thread. Only fallacious counters mainly of the ad hominem mold.
And by the way, I strongly believe you are well entitled to the fruits of your own labor (strictly on principle) before any bureaucracy or tyrant wraps their greedy hands around it. Yes, even you. Whether you believe otherwise or not.
Well, I think that AP and EM do a good job here…I realize it is a conservative site, but, it is also a great source for breaking news and political rumblings. I love it.
I also like having decent conversations with people I don’t agree with. I know there are a few thoughtful democrats who post here and have respect for the site and individuals. Those I don’t mind.
What I cannot stand is when the entire thread is populated with those who are 100% antagonistic toward conservatism, who are vulgar and hijack the thread from comment no. 1. That’s when you know you have a problem, I think. I’d like to think that there is a decent amount of weeding out of commenters. If they are pointless cut and pasters or astroturfers (as most are) BOOT THEM OUT. No warning, just kick them OUT. It really isn’t a democracy here. They can still read the site but just not comment.
I know it’s a bit more technical than this, but, there has to be some place where we can talk amongst ourselves and not have to fight back against outright disinformation and we can gain strength from getting feedback from each other. Remember, we have to do this EVERY. WHERE. ELSE. I know it is our responsibility to no engage this frivolous trolls or cronies, however, the principle of rejecting these people from the site is still worth considering.
Again, I have no problem with general disagreements and civil arguments…it’s the Obots I have a big problem with. And, you know it’s their OBJECTIVE to do what they are doing here.
Kini on April 9, 2009 at 1:25 AM

Holy Sh*t that is HIGH! That is like CA HIGH (assuming you bought in last 10 years).
I wonder what Rush’s staff in New York thinks about the move? People who live in N.Y. really seem to like it. I think he is trying for another no state income tax place to be his hurricane go to place. It was very unprofessional of the Gov. to make his remarks about anyone, let alone a taxpayer of his state. Very classy.
Well, I think maybe the more rational commenters do need to avoid the bennys and capitulus, getalife etc. There is no point in responding to these people. It is hard however, not to point out that at least Rush pays his taxes which is more than can be said for a good many people in Obama’s circle…However, what is the point?
People have been leaving California for years. Now, I suppose they will start to leave New York too. The Democrats will just have to get their taxes from someone else.
The last time Bush vetoed a bill, it was over ridden, in part by Republicans. And right now when I look at the kind of money that Obama is spending I can not help but think that Bush was downright stingy in comparison.
The effect of this mass migration is that the folks come to red states and aren’t happy until they have made them exactly like the blue states they just left. It’s hard to listen to new comers tell you that you suck, when all your life you thought home was just great.
True. I think the reason Obama was able to win Indiana, a red state, is that half of Chicago moved to Gary. In the county I live in 78% of the people voted for the other guy.
Yes, the troll activity is higher now. It went up with the general election, but it continues to be high due to the real threat of Sarah to a second term for O-man, plus the threat of Rush due to his high ratings.
Get used to it. Their fear is WAY up, especially about our pistol-packin, pioneering, pretty, professional, prudent, powerful, (t)parmigan-hunting Mommabear.
This Crusade is out of the station. Every additional troll-post confirms it.
HotAir doesn’t need to be an echo chamber, although I think finding conservatives that agree on everything is pretty rare, but the caliber of trolls we have are not worth acknowledging. The trick is to really stick to the thread topic but admit it is hard when they say the goofiest things.
When I moved into my neighborhood in New Jersey 18 years ago, it was common for retirees to remain in their houses and part of the local community. They would earn their money in New Jersey and spend it in New Jersey.
Nowadays, nobody stays in New Jersey after they retire. My neighborhood does not have a single retiree. (The quality of lawns has gone way down…) At church, the old folks are all gone to Florida or the Carolinas or anywhere but New Jersey. Families are being broken up and the old folks are being isolated, just to avoid the New Jersey taxes.
However, either would be a respectable veep for Sarah.
Sapwolf on April 9, 2009 at 6:26 AM
Romney or Sanford would be hired in a second to run a multi-million (Romney Billion) dollar company yet they are going to be a VP for the less qualified Palin? ROFLMAO!
Troll (Definition) – The word assigned to anyone who disagrees with a Palintologist. It is used to smear them in hopes the administration will move to have them banned. This allows for the Palintologist movement to spread their propaganda unchallenged.
The polyps have been desperately trying to plant seeds that Palin is a pathetic loser, but she has huge respect from those she represents, and she does them a lot better than the governor of NY state, or my governor Granholm does their constituents

Of course the Populists in Alaska like receiving their socialist welfare checks from the windfall profit taxes Palin raised on Alaskan oil companies.
“We’re set up, unlike other states in the union, where it’s collectively Alaskans own the resources. So we share in the wealth when the development of these resources occurs.” – Sarah Palin
Honestly, this board needs an “ignore” feature. Something along the lines of “right-click poster name -> ‘ignore’”. That way we won’t even have to notice the loony trolls.
But I’ll take the vow as well. I Vow never to respond to troll posts on HA again.
Liberals set such high standards when they resort to name calling and making fun of a person or group of people, don’t they?
Call a Liberal out on facts and watch them wither on the vine so when confronted stay on message and call them out when they resort to acting like a child, it makes them wet their pants and run away in fear.
We are not even six months into the current Administration and it’s like watching Clinton all over again, the taxes going up and don’t you know that we are going to be told soon that there just isn’t a way to give the middle class a tax cut.
I want to see Governor Palin elected President in 2012 just to watch the Liberals react, it would be priceless.

HornetSting on April 9, 2009 at 1:32 AM

As it is, why would anyone want to move to NY knowing the Governor is capable of singling out people for ridicule
entagor on April 9, 2009 at 3:16 AM

Sapwolf on April 9, 2009 at 5:23 AM
Whether you believe otherwise or not.
anuts on April 9, 2009 at 5:55 AM

Very classy.
Cindy Munford on April 9, 2009 at 6:42 AM
Well, I think maybe the more rational commenters do need to avoid the bennys and capitulus, getalife etc. There is no point in responding to these people. It is hard however, not to point out that at least Rush pays his taxes which is more than can be said for a good many people in Obama’s circle…However, what is the point?
People have been leaving California for years. Now, I suppose they will start to leave New York too. The Democrats will just have to get their taxes from someone else.
