Palin spokesman: No, her legal defense fund hasn’t launched yet
posted at 6:15 pm on April 8, 2009 by Allahpundit
A public service announcement in case you read that HuffPo item I linked in Headlines this morning and thought of reaching for your checkbook: Don’t bother. Neither she nor her legal team can accept money from unofficial defense funds, no matter how noble their intentions.
The continuing generosity of Alaskans and Americans is overwhelming as many reach out to assist Governor Sarah Palin and her family with their legal bills.
However, the official legal defense fund for Governor Sarah Palin has not been formed and the Governor cannot accept monies for those obligations from any other entity than the one in formation. Numerous federal and state laws to need to be abided by and the official legal defense fund will have very strict donation guidelines.
We thank everyone interested in helping the Governor. The best way to assist her will be through this official fund which will launch later this month.
The guy who put it together claims he’s working with her lawyers to make the fund official, but by the time that happens, her own fund will probably be ready to go. With almost no publicity, he managed to raise $1,100 of the $500K she needs in a single day. Imagine how she’ll do after a guest shot on Glenn Beck or whatever. If he’s eager to help out with some cash, though, here’s an idea: How about raising some money for Levi to help him find his sense of shame?

I know you probably added the comment for Levi to give it a little more troll/red meat appeal. But I honestly think a fund for his rehab would be like throwing money at the school systems or war on drugs. It’ll be a never ending earmark.

Despite CNN’s “overwhelming” verdict, the debate was pretty close. I think Palin won, you think Biden won, but it was in some sense a tossup.
Remember that she was pretty new to the national scene at the time, and Biden was the experienced “statesman.” She did win the expectations game.
I think the comment you responded to was over the top, but Obama appears to be an empty suit and has several gaffes of his own. He may get better, but I frankly doubt if Obama will improve a lot at debating. I think Palin has the raw potential to hand him his head.
We’ll see.

I can’t say I’m a Palin fanatic. I certainly admire her but I’d probably vote for Romney in a primary. (I’d vote for her in an instant over Ogabe.)
With that said I’ll pony up what I can to the official defense fund once it gets started. The attacks against her have been vicious and she’s taken it in stride. It’s shameful that her family might be burdened with those legal bills.

I wish that Scientology published its fund-raising.
Then we could graph this defense fund with Scientology and determine the winner. We could call it winning the “Xenu” or something.
The Wall on April 8, 2009 at 7:06 PM
Count me in when she gets her legal fund going. I can’t donate a lot, but I can chip something into the kitty. These frivolous lawsuits serve one purpose only–to try to drive her out of politics–they are that scared of her.
Regarding the debate with Biden–while, yes, her inexperience on the national scene did show, she did a good job. Biden should have had no problems with her at all. Instead, she did a good job of keeping him reeling. Added to that his misrepresentations and outright lies–I’d have to give the debate to Palin.
2012 is 2012. I’ll take a serious look at all the candidates who might run: Palin, Romney, Jindal, anyone else who tosses their hat in the ring to defeat Papa Bama and I’ll make my judgment then. Right now, Palin is slightly ahead of the others. Romney is a contender–although the pro-Romney trolls here are doing a good job damaging his brand name for me–keep up guys, and you’re going to lose a lot for your man–even if Palin isn’t in the running.

I don’t know what Allahpundit is talking about. The Biden/Palin debate was one of Gov. Palin’s shining moments during the campaign. I actually thought Biden would take the debate hands down because he’s such a “foreign policy expert” (according to the media), he didn’t.

Something needs to be done about frivolous suits, anyway. I hope some legislation can be drafted to spare private citizens the threat of bankruptcy if someone decides to level outrageous complaints at them and force them to defend themselves in court at great expense. Our justice system was not intended for this.

Have you ever noticed that whenever there is a thread that is dedicated to the discussion of a particular current news item regarding Head Queen Xenu Palin, that the Palintologists will turn the subject as fast as they can…clumsily and obviously, but as fast as they can to:
Mitt Romney.
Sorta reminds you of libs constantly changing the subject of Obama’s horrid first 75 days to….Rush Limbaugh.
You psycho Palintologists learn well.
Maybe during that time that Levi was living out-of-wedlock in the Palin household with the supposed “abstinence-only” phony Sarah’s approval, they came up with straw man to filter down to their cultists.
BTW, regarding the reason why the vast majority of americans thought that Palin LOST the debate despite Biden’s ghastly performance and missteps was that early in the debate, at the first kinda-hard question, Palin basically said in so many words: “you know, I am not going to answer your questions but will just get to my talking points”….which the public rightly interpreted to mean: “gosh golly gee, I aint too durn smart so ah aint gonna answer your smarty pants questions”.
That shockingly bad debate manuevre cost her the debate.
Probably a good move though because she is a gosh golly gee not2bright person.

You make many errors, but I’ll just call you on this one for now.
Palin’s at the top of my list right now, I’m an evangelical who would have a very hard time voting for Huckabee. Romney I’d vote for in a minute. Part of my reluctance to support him is his previous lackluster showing: He won’t draw the energy Palin will, and I think she’s got a better conservative/reformer record.
Any more fallacious stereotypes you wanna throw out?

75% of respondents to the Drudge Report poll after the debate also thought Sarah won it, as well as Frank Luntz’s focus group.

If you’re right, she’ll run and get blown away. Somebody else will get the primary nod, and she’ll go back to Wasilla.
So why stalk internet threads trying to kneecap her 3+ years before the next general election?

And, if you look at inexperience, lack of accomplishments — attendance at the same educational institution from which the despised Chimpy I came, Chimpy II whupped her totally.
