Palin spokesman: No, her legal defense fund hasn’t launched yet

A public service announcement in case you read that HuffPo item I linked in Headlines this morning and thought of reaching for your checkbook: Don’t bother. Neither she nor her legal team can accept money from unofficial defense funds, no matter how noble their intentions.
The continuing generosity of Alaskans and Americans is overwhelming as many reach out to assist Governor Sarah Palin and her family with their legal bills.
However, the official legal defense fund for Governor Sarah Palin has not been formed and the Governor cannot accept monies for those obligations from any other entity than the one in formation. Numerous federal and state laws to need to be abided by and the official legal defense fund will have very strict donation guidelines.
We thank everyone interested in helping the Governor. The best way to assist her will be through this official fund which will launch later this month.
The guy who put it together claims he’s working with her lawyers to make the fund official, but by the time that happens, her own fund will probably be ready to go. With almost no publicity, he managed to raise $1,100 of the $500K she needs in a single day. Imagine how she’ll do after a guest shot on Glenn Beck or whatever. If he’s eager to help out with some cash, though, here’s an idea: How about raising some money for Levi to help him find his sense of shame?

Poptech on April 8, 2009 at 8:46 PM
Gee, a 55% increase in budget, while the city nearly doubled in size during her tenure. She did something right…
The only reason she was forced out of the Wasilla mayorship was term limits. She won her second election by a landslide, and the Palin-endorsed successor won her election.
We’ll see how things go in the Governorship. She seems to be doing well there too…
unclesmrgol on April 8, 2009 at 8:50 PM
Hey Fabio, maybe you can use your super-keen internet skillz to copy and paste 4 or 5 mutually admiring posts between Wall & yourself. Might even take up half a page, if you do it right.
I’ll be really impressed, for real!!
cs89 on April 8, 2009 at 8:51 PM
Allah is pretty perceptive. He says something that he knows is going to get 90% of us on our feet immediately to protest and correct. That means lots of posts. He knows that the trolls are going to descend and add pages of post with inane cr*p. I must say though the trolls are getting good, they used to show u on page two or three but now they are hijacking from the first page on.
I think it’s amazing that so many people are chomping at the bit to donate whatever thay can to help her. Obama, Emmanuel and Axelrod must be pulling their hair out wondering what they have to do to take this woman out. Guess they didn[t count on us!
CCRWM on April 8, 2009 at 8:58 PM
Allah forgot to add the note..
Note: To all Palin’s Male supporters (which are most of them) donations will not help you get into her pants any quicker.
Poptech on April 8, 2009 at 9:01 PM
Why are you discriminating , there’s female supporters that need that information too.
the_nile on April 8, 2009 at 9:07 PM
CCRWM’s definition of a ‘troll’ ‘highjacking a thread’ is a nonPalintologist disagreeing with his perception of Sarah Palin.
Too weak to stand on argument.

I’m even setting up bogus ID’s to funnel in more than the max. I’m getting hopey/changey starting my own pyramid scheme for Sarah.
She deserves my best.

Pooptech is a joke. He/She did the same crap on Newsbusters and was banned. Noone takes this clown seriously.

I’m not a joke, I’m right and I’m also not banned no matter how many times you repeat it.
Poptech on April 8, 2009 at 11:01 PM
I guess Poptech isn’t going to contribute to the LDF.
technopeasant on April 8, 2009 at 11:06 PM
Poptech
That comment is saturated with sexism.
terryannonline on April 8, 2009 at 11:07 PM
Oh my…that happens to Romney Libertarians sometimes when they can’t find any real arguments.
ddrintn on April 8, 2009 at 11:12 PM
I have no problem with people being critical of Palin. I do take issue with people uses sexual images to marginalizing her. If PopTech doesn’t like Palin, fine, but he should make his case and not try to demean her.
terryannonline on April 8, 2009 at 11:16 PM
It goes beyond that. Poptech probably actually has kinky Palin fantasies that he projects onto all (male) Palin supporters. It’s the only explanation for that sort of obsession.
ddrintn on April 8, 2009 at 11:18 PM
Well I don’t know what is or is not in Poptech’s mind but sexualizing a professional woman is a technique used in order so others (even other women, ironically) don’t take that person serious. It is never done to men. If Poptech doesn’t want us to take Gov. Palin seriously because
he doesn’t think she’s a serious politician than he should make his case with out his sexists bashing.
terryannonline on April 8, 2009 at 11:26 PM
If Poptech doesn’t want us to take her seriously, and if she’s such a “train wreck”, we wouldn’t need his endless creatively edited copy-and-paste resumes.
ddrintn on April 8, 2009 at 11:28 PM
LMAO, that has nothing to do with her but rather her middle age male followers who lust after her (yes they do).
Among Rock-Ribbed Fans of Palin, Dudes Rule (The New York Times)
Poptech on April 8, 2009 at 11:34 PM
I don’t lust after her. Do you lust after Mitt? Be honest.
And the NYT? Nice impartial source there.
ddrintn on April 8, 2009 at 11:38 PM
Look what you are implying. You are basically saying that her male supporters don’t care what she thinks or what her policies they only find her attractive. Their support of her can not be take seriously because it’s only sexual, i.e. Palin shouldn’t be taken seriously.
terryannonline on April 8, 2009 at 11:42 PM
I’m not gay so no. I have an ex-eagle’s cheerleader as my lady so I have no need to lust after the average looking Palin. But there must be a lot of men not happy with their ball and chain.
Sarah Palin, man magnet: McCain’s veep pick is attracting men who backed Hillary & uniting GOP (New York Daily News)
Poptech on April 8, 2009 at 11:44 PM
You do, however, apparently have a need to denigrate her and her supporters 24/7/365. And you’ll be continuing to post on here for the next four hours to satisfy this need.
Prove me wrong. Please.
Snowed In on April 8, 2009 at 11:48 PM
Many do, seriously. Oh sure they repeat the talking points but never fail to add an extra point like gorgeous, beautiful, nice to look at, easy on the eyes, looks good in a dress. The give away is when they try to slam those who find her unqualified as “afraid of strong good looking women”. It is a typical psychological defense they are trying to project for their real reasons they like her, her looks.
Would Sarah Palin even be talked about if she was not an attractive women? Would she have ever been the VP pick?
You know the answer but no one will answer it honestly.
Poptech on April 8, 2009 at 11:49 PM
Uh-huh.
ddrintn on April 8, 2009 at 11:50 PM
This is why I was able to be objective from day one and did not fall for the Naughty Librarian look, like the male Palintologists.
Poptech on April 8, 2009 at 11:55 PM
I really don’t like it when the media and others focuses too much on what a woman politician is wearing and looks like. I thought it was stupid the media reported how much Palin’s clothes cost. It was trivial and I know they wouldn’t do that to a man. But I wouldn’t call that sexist. But there is difference between commenting on a women’s looks and sexualizing her? Your comment crossed the line into sexualization. Reminder of what u wrote:
terryannonline on April 8, 2009 at 11:56 PM
I’m just being honest, the women don’t see it because well they are not men and the men are too cowardly to admit it (especially to their women). I’m not lying, I am telling you exactly how it is. But this is not the case of people thinking she is stupid because of her looks, they think she is stupid because of her media appearances.
Again, this also applies to Obama:
Would Sarah Palin (Barrack Obama) even be talked about if she was not an attractive women (black man)?
Poptech on April 9, 2009 at 12:01 AM
Fixed. And look, I made it all bold just like pooptech. ROFLMAO!!

Nah, I’m into Qualifications, Relevant Education, Economic Literacy and Private Sector experience for POTUS. I don’t consider running for president an American Idol contest.

This was not a homosexual crack. I would feel bad for any man who would romance Pooptech in any way. Infact, I apologize to all NFL Lineman for associating them with Pooptech.

Poptech on April 8, 2009 at 11:49 PM
I’ve responded to your inanity on several occasions, and made other comments supportive of Palin.
Please point to a single post of mine which refers to her appearance. (Yes, I’m male)
Put up or shut up time.
cs89 on April 9, 2009 at 12:33 AM
It’s not a homosexual joke. Expecting Poptech to be civil? Fuggedaboudit.
It must be Romney’s looks, because judging from his record I don’t see much to attract a libertarianish type. RomneyCare? Increased taxes in the camouflaged form of increased fees? Yep, must be the hair.
ddrintn on April 9, 2009 at 12:44 AM
Romney was not a Libertarian, just the best of who the GOP had running.
Poptech on April 9, 2009 at 12:56 AM
Damn, “it” isn’t even a troll…it’s a Narcissus, looking for itself in every comment post.
The only thing to say about “it” is that he/she makes the effort to cut and paste. In Obambi’s education world, that should count for *something*, right?
Ain’t gonna happen, as my friends in NC say. “It” craves bloviating.
For all the ones doing hatin’ on AP about Sarah, I’d like to offer an opinion: most cynics are burned-out optimists. Regardless of how badly McShamnesty acted during the election last year, SP still had a responsibility to manage her own affairs regarding both the media and the base. She didn’t do well on either one, and allowed the MSM to tar her terribly. She had a lot of potential “red meat” Conservative issues upon which she could have remained focused, including energy, executive experience, and even missile defense. Instead she allowed herself to be tarred by McShamnesty’s milquetoast stance on immigration enforcement and failed to consistently remain on message.
Like it or not, anyone wanting to run as a Conservative now faces a much more difficult hurdle with the media and the Republican Party than did Reagan back in 1980. Doubly so for a woman simply because of all the reasons Libs hate Conservative women, from being pro-life down to being just plain successful. Sarah has her successes, yes, but not against the East Coast establishment. Not yet, at least.
She’s gonna have to figure out eventually that trying to be all things to all people doesn’t work; as many here have said, people are looking for someone to be principled and conservative at the same time.
From what I have seen AP write about Sarah, I think he became somewhat cynical after her meteoric rise was stopped so quickly. But don’t count him out just yet.
I follow blogs like HA, Ace, and Michelle’s blog because the authors are principled conservatives (and yes, I like Ace because he’s a potty-mouthed one at that).
Oh, and even though sometimes they make me want to throw up in my mouth, I don’t mind the Dude posts.
Keep up the good work, AP.
Wanderlust on April 9, 2009 at 1:31 AM
Sarah Palin handled the media horribly last year. This Levi crap isn’t showing that she has improved. She will have a hell of a lot of work to do during the primaries if she chooses to run. Such as answering questions with endless deflections.
Speedwagon82 on April 9, 2009 at 2:23 AM
Except she did beat Biden. Of course, she could never top Biden in the eyes of the media, but we all know they always call it for the Democrat.
Still, it is a subjective judgment. But the fact that Biden told several whoppers trying to hold even with Palin should be enough to declare him the loser.
But there’s your problem: the media isn’t bright enough or honest enough — your pick — to catch those mistakes.
Just like Biden told the brilliant Katie Couric that FDR came on television after the stock market crash of 1929 and talked to the American people directly. She swallowed it all the way.
BTW, I see Beavis and Butthead are back, sniggering over “how dumb is Sarah Palin!” Predictable. But at least they have each other….

Dropping trou and bending over to grab your ankles in front of Mitt won’t guarantee “you” a date either.
hawkdriver on April 9, 2009 at 5:39 AM
I’ve been saying 90% of stories about Palin show the lack of journalistic standards since most are proven to be incorrect. Again, it’s proven true.
They can’t even get simple stories about her right.

So good that he lost to McCain after spending enormous sums of his own money.
chunderroad on April 9, 2009 at 8:55 AM
LOL. Finally, something poppy really is expert in! No self-repecting woman could put up with his obsessive/compulsive misogyny long enough for him to invade her personal space.
littleguy on April 9, 2009 at 9:36 AM
McCain had name recognition running for president before. By your logic McCain should of had no chace being beat by Bush in 2000.
Poptech on April 9, 2009 at 9:49 AM
The question itself is, of course, absurd. As another blogger pointer out, all of this misogygy is intended to ridicule and demean a sucessful female governor — nothing more. Keep it up pop — the legal defense fund contributions will soar with every hate-filled rant!
littleguy on April 9, 2009 at 9:57 AM
You’re claiming McCain had a name recognition advantage over George W. Bush? (Pssst- the Bush name had a little publicity of it’s own. Don’t tell anybody).
Hahahaha.
