seejane<strike>mom</strike>troll for hits to her site on April 8, 2009 at 6:31 AM

Your arrogance far exceeds your true worth. Never in the military - marry a military member and then presume to look down on other military members.
Had Huffington made your comments you would have hopped on your high horse of hypocrisy and bemoaned the awful rantings of someone who hates the military.
Fine company you keep there.

Maybe he’s trying to avoid coming home where the throngs are less cheerful. This man is running out of cheery crowd photo ops. Where to next - Disneyland to pose with Micky and Goofy?

Actually, rumor has it he'll be in attendance when the Hall of Presidents re-opens in July at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom, so you're not too far off.

Photo ops are just that...Photo ops. Trust me, seeing their Commander in Chief bow to a muslim King set off intense gagging throughout the ranks...He is a tool, the good ones know it. Most will endure as we did under Clinton. Many will retire sooner than planned, or opt to not re-enlist. Morale will suffer overall...He is who they thought he was...

They weren’t forced seejanemom. I noticed the large amount of high pitched hoowaas. The crowd had many a female admirer. The front row was populated with grinning idiots that happened to be black females? They are part of the cult of personality that happens to be in the military. The papparazi presidency continues.

SADLY, you are right, they cherry picked only the most frothing minority women in fatigues they could find...and, well, Marine wife that I am, I can only say....I noticed that they WEREN'T MARINES..**coughcougharmytrashcough***

OH...and the reason I even follow up after this thread is clearly dead is to say that Gretchen on FOX thios morning is interviewing THREE MINOIRTY ARMY WOMEN...two blacks and a Latino.....

THEY SHOULD HAVE PASSED OUT VIBRATORS BEFORE THE INTEVIEW>>> their fawning made me blush. Yes, even ME.

In his speech didn't Obama say effectively Iraq needs to take complete control and he is gonna pull them out of there? If I were a soldier I'd be clapping too. What with spending my life living in a desert dodging IEDs, Obama telling me I should pay for it if I get hit by one, all the while he is reducing my air coverage and tactical support, why the heck would I NOT cheer him telling me I can leave and go home now? Just saying...

Odd...especially since it was Obama and the other members of the Lefty gang who accused them of being baby killers and emboldened terrorists to go to Iraq and kill and maim their buddies.

I wonder if the dead GIs are cheering?

Simply magic.
radiofreevillage

Simply magic? Not really, the troops were screened, advised on what to do.

Couldn’t help but notice, no Air Force, Navy or Marine personnel, I wonder why?

Oh that’s right I forgot.
“Air Raiding Villages and Killing Civilians”
Perhaps that’s why no Air Force personnel.

Gitmo! Guess that explains why no Marine personnel.

But why no Navy?

Oh ya, Obama dropped charges against al-Nashiri, the leader of the USS Cole bombers that killed 17 Shipmates.

Magic? No.

“Even if you disagree with whomever is visiting, you be polite because that’s what an adult does…”

Clear radiofreevillage?

Look, I'm sure there are troops who are requested to give the President a rousing cheer when he gets there, but that doesn't mean they weren't sincere.

I can't really be too explicit on my feelings on Obama. Let's just say that I'm a non-troll poster on this website and I'll let you make your own conclusions on the subject.

I'm currently serving in Northern Iraq - no dignitaries ever bother coming up here to see us, and it's not hard to understand why. Still, as I sat down to eat dinner in the chow hall last night and saw that President Obama had made a trip to Baghdad, I found it uplifting and a boost to the morale.

It didn't (and doesn't) matter what my politics are or what my feelings are about the man as President. He's still my Commander-in-Chief, and I am obliged to support him without question in that role. The effect is the same when he shows his support for us in ways like this.

I just think this is a non-issue, though I agree that the media pooh-pooh'd Bush's mutual respect for the troops and applauds the President for coming around. That's a shame.

In what branch of the service did Obama almost serve again?

Ah, I remember, it was the Marines. He became a jarhead the first time he boarded Marine One.

LOL.... Sea story time.... and as all true sailors know, the only difference between sea stories and fairy tales is that fairy tales begin with "once upon a time"... and sea stories begin with "this aint to shiit"...

well, not shitter here...

Mid 80's, I was aksed my opinion of putting women on Combatant ships... and actualy voiced my real opinion as to the problems it could entail and would have to be overcome (pregnancies, double standards, social problems)...

My yearly evaluation that year? Best Electronic Tech on the Island of Oahu.... and a 3.4 in equal opportunity... Career Kiss O' death...

Notice the make-up in the crowd behind him. I'm sure those were ones to volunteer. Highly doubt it was randomly-picked soldiers and instead there was probably a message/email on base asking for volunteers who wanted to see the President and stand behind him. Again, notice the make-up.

They forced them to be excited. I have friends who were given that exact order when Clinton was in office.

Tim Burton on April 7, 2009 at 8:28 PM

Some units might "force". I will tell you that the military always gave Clinton a warm reception because the receptions were always "gamed".

The military very much disliked Clinton. His first action in office was an attack on them - the whole gays in the military thing.

When I was at the White House - there was almost a revolt of the military personnel because Clinton's staff wanted to ban military uniforms on the White House grounds - this in spite of the fact that we only wore them on Wednesdays. Eventually - the staff settled for banning only "covers" ... or for you civvies - hats.

And there was also the time that military members were forced to be butlers at a dinner.

Yes - there was no love for Clinton from the military - but you never saw that did you?

THERE WAS GREAT LOVE FOR GEORGE BUSH - AND THERE STILL IS.
