Video: The obligatory “Eminem goofs on Palin” clip

posted at 9:20 pm on April 7, 2009 by Allahpundit

Via the ‘Busters. No need to sound the feminist alarm here: It’s only Palin being lumped in with Jessica Simpson, Britney Spears, et al. as a dopey sex object, not Hillary, so everything’s kosher with the sisterhood. As cheap and stupid as this is, and as cheap and stupid as the Johnstons’ tabloid turn was, this does hurt her by playing into the narrative that she’s not to be taken seriously. For every person who read her statement on missile defense last night, a dozen more will watch the Eminem video or the Tyra show and come away thinking she’s a sideshow. It’s not fair but it’s something she has to deal with. I wonder what another two years of it will do to her image by the time of the primaries.

Like Gutfeld says, if this tool had any nuts at all he would have pulled this on Michelle Obama instead of an easy, media-approved target like Palin. That wouldn’t have been right either, but unlike this, it would indeed have been “edgy.” Click the image to watch.

You contradict yourself. You agree that racial slurs are offensive. Yet you limit one’s potential to be offended by race. As a black person, I respond to racially-charged language against any group.

I should clarify, I am not offended by someone calling me a cracker or white trash. Therefore, as a white person, I could not care less if someone calls me a redneck or white trash.
I suppose redneck is still safe to write here? Get over yourself. Your moniker is The Race Card. Racism must be the fuel that energizes you. How very sad it must be for you to go through life under that burden.

I was the one who suggested a direct correlation between the word “wigger” and “nigger.”

That was you? Wow, you are a racial genius.

Baldilocks simply points out that obvious detail we all know but forget to varying degrees depending on the circumstance — all racial epithets are offensive.

All racial epithets are offensive to you and Baldilocks; that is very apparent. I dare say you need to grow some denser skin and try to stick with being offended by black racial stereotypes. Please allow us other races to choose to be offended by our own.

Those of you for whom the label “offensive” is too burdensome need to remember something. Because I point out that something is offensive does not mean I am the one offended by it.

This is your first valid point and I am glad to hear it. So you are not actually offended you, are merely defining what is offensive or not for others? Big burden for one to carry through life.

You wusses are so quick to cry and whine about being labeled offensive when the words you use about others target them for ridicule based on race, gender, religion and other push-buttons. If you’re going to call someone “wigger” you probably shouldn’t be such a pussy when someone calls you “offensive.”

Guess I can use the word pussy as well. You appear to be a big pussy that goes through life finding offense at a lot of things. So, pussy, why don’t you try a little exercise and try to get through one day without having to remind everyone that you are a black man? Believe me when I say that there are many of us in this country that don’t care if you are black or fuchsia. The race card is very tiring and you should really consider dropping it and stop playing the victim. You will much happier.

Do you think these factors may have impacted the DJIA during W’s term?

Hey cap. I am surprised that you forget the little bit of accompanying information that the president does not control the purse; congress does. Guess what? Congress has been under democratic control since Jan 2007. Add to that the fact that the Community Reinvestment Act is a United States federal law designed to encourage commercial banks and savings associations to meet the needs of borrowers in all segments of their communities, including low- and moderate-income neighborhoods. Community activists had lobbied the US Congress to pass the Act in order to reduce discriminatory credit practices against low-income neighborhoods, a practice known as redlining.
Just so happens that Carter and Clinton were instrumental in getting this passed and activating on a steroid level. Barney Frank and Chris Dodd also have their grubby hands in this mess. All those folks are democrats.

By the way, the male cheerleader saved 1.1 million African lives with his Aids initiative.

March 6 (Bloomberg) — President Barack Obama now has the distinction of presiding over his own bear market.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 20 percent since Inauguration Day through yesterday, the fastest drop under a newly elected president in at least 90 years, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The gauge lost 53 percent from its October 2007 record of 14,164.53, slipping 4.1 percent to 6,594.44 yesterday.

According to liberal estimates, the figure of Iraqis killed is around 23 million. The number is more like a half million. Guess what happens in war? People die. Saddam Hussein and his sons had a lot of blood on their hands and were sure to terrorize and torture their people for years to come. Lucky we got those bastards.

I think, and I apologize if I am wrong, Baldi, what Baldi is trying to say is that racial slurs of any kind, no matter against what race, are uncool in her eyes.

Personally, I’m from Texas and if someone calls my husband a redneck, I don’t slam their head into the concrete. W****e Trash, well, it depends on WHO says it. I understand that you don’t want to be portrayed as a victim and you want to pick and choose what offends YOU, but this just happens to offend BALDI.

Of course not. After all, you are “allowed” to get offended by everything. You have the choice and the fact that you choose to be offended says a lot about you. I realize that arguing with you is not a popular stance here. I will take that risk. You don’t impress me with your victim hood. You may call yourself a conservative, and perhaps you are, but deciding to be offended so easily, just shows weakness.

I’m not going to slog through 5 pages of troll-sparring. Honestly, these Palin-bashing trolls have got to be being paid to do this, because I can’t imagine anyone being so single-mindedly dedicated simply out of personal animus.

At any rate: The tone of AP’s post is to make light of this. Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t make light of it. I’m enough of a feminist to say that real men need to send men like this to the woodshed- verbally, in this case. It is NOT like being put in the same category as Britney Spears. Britney Spears tarts herself out. Women who are out in the public sphere and just happen to be attractive women shouldn’t have to put up with this sort of thing.

The victim hood of always being angry and playing defense to an oh-so-brutal world where a black woman is so disenfranchised with all the rhetoric and unfair obstacles that stand in the way of progress. Victim – noun one that is subjected to oppression, hardship, or mistreatment
In my opinion, that defines you.

Apparently you are since you keep addressing me.

Please note the nuance between ‘addressing’ and ‘responding’. You were the one who jumped into my conservation about The Race Card. Please don’t flatter yourself; you represent the weakest part of the conservative party to me.

If I’m so boring, then why you do us both a favor and cease addressing me and keep my nom de guerre out of your comments? Just a suggestion.

I would love to! Thanks for the outlet. I was merely responding to your comments. Please continue to be offended so often. Just do us both a favor and gloss over my ‘offensive’ and ‘oppressive’ words.
And this is the final response you get from me; per your own suggestion. I wish you success in your wigged out world of woe-is-me and always finding offense where there is none.

Good… you do have standards.

Pretty low ones, IMO, but they do exist apparently.

cs89 on April 9, 2009 at 12:39 AM

….
You make a great point about the phrase “white trash.” It is first and foremost a class-based attack. But you and I both know the widely-accepted connotation draws upon the ideal that whites are somehow not expected to display those traits of “human trash.” Hence the qualifying modifier “white” precedes the ugly slur towards another human, “trash.”
….
The Race Card on April 8, 2009 at 4:56 PM

Yes, the “trash” part is the real meaning of the word, and it will never die because there are so many people who are trashy.

The problem is the pairing of “trash” with “white.” That keys on race, and it doesn’t take a genius to get the implication that it’s saying there’s something strange about a white person being trashy.

Which is silly, since we all know there’s nothing strange about that at all.

I think the real key here is that there is no such phrase as “black trash.” Of course, in this age of hyper-sensitivity to charges of racism, a white person would be a fool to use a term like “black trash,” even as a natural analogue to “white trash.” I’ve noticed that at least some black people, such as Chris Rock, will use the n-word as the equivalent of “black trash.” Other black people will use the n-word as the equivalent of “just another guy” or “dude.”

As for me, I try not to use “white trash” to avoid offense. If you really have to spend time explaining that it’s not a racist term, it’s probably better just to skip the term.

But I would point out that most people who say “white trash” are just using the term to describe trashy people, and don’t intend anything racist. It’s just a legacy phrase for trashy people.

The whole topic can be avoided if we just follow the rule, that when “trashy” is the only word that fits, just say, “trashy.” Don’t stick “white” in there, because it just distracts from your point.

ThereGoesTheNeighborhood on April 9, 2009 at 12:57 AM

sarahpalinfan99 on April 9, 2009 at 6:20 AM

Mental picture: Baldi holding one commenter by the front collar of their shirt with one hand and Kung Fu back-fisting the troll sneaking up behind her.

Almost forgot…

Cue Carl Douglas.

How many innocent people were killed liberated by the same cheerleader in Iraq?

Ah yes, the $600 Billion Iraq Adventure. The cheerleader’s never going to live that one down.

capitulus on April 8, 2009 at 8:42 PM

Our men and women in uniform try to keep civilian casualties to a minimum, so I’m not sure how many of the 600,000 killed were innocent. It’s still fewer than Saddam had killed and would continue to kill himself. I believe a person in a gulag or secret prison is more likely innocent than an armed insurgent in a combat zone.

You may be able to fool your fellow nascar fans with old stats but some of us with jobs and toothbrushes know that the DJIA currently sits at 7,800.

Next!

capitulus on April 8, 2009 at 8:45 PM

Not “old” stats, sweetie. I linked the DJIA for the entire months of February, March and April. “Trends” for those of us with jobs and toothbrushes. ;)

chunderroad on April 9, 2009 at 8:33 AM

I agree the video is tasteless and trashy and Eminem is a waste of x and y chromosomes, but let’s stop picking on Lisa Ann here. A few people here have called her ugly and thunderthighs……… direct from wikipedia and confirmed by chickipedia: Lisa Ann Born May 9, 1972
Measurements: 38DD-20-34
Height: 5 ft 2
Weight: 110 lb
5 ft 2 and 110 lbs is hardly thunderthighs. Michelle Obama cannot hold a candle to teh real or teh fake Sarah Palin!!!!

Sorry, race fan. Get your dates straight. The stammering fool went back to Texas on 1/20. That’s your baseline. When you’re talking absolute numbers (as opposed to %s) you use dates. Save your lies for the luddites.

It’s the market, not a marketing chart. Instead of steadily climbing, the DJIA nosedived thousands of points until the Fed stepped in and released a trillion dollars, bringing it back to almost where it was in January.

chunderroad on April 9, 2009 at 10:03 AM

And Bush didn’t stammer like TOTUS.

It went from 10.5 to 14 to 8 in the 8 years of Bush. Is 3 months really a valid time frame for analysis? New staff, implementing new policies, paying back taxes, etc. The fact is that 3 months later we’re looking at an upswing. Look at WFC’s earnings today.

An “upswing” from a low in the 6500s in March, still below the starting point on 1/20.

I agree that 3 months doesn’t tell the whole story. But, if you seriously want to compare Obama’s performance in terms of the DJIA since he took office, look at the 1/20-4/1 charts for 1981, 1989, 1993, 2001, and 2009 Presidential honeymoon periods. (Closing figures 950-1014, 2235-2293, 3241-3439, 10587-9878, and 7949-7761 respectively). None of these time frames has suffered the precipitous drop that greeted the Obama administration, with the market down about 1500 from 1/20 to early March.

And that’s without taking into account the massive spending and cash infusions, or the drop that started when it became clear Obama was winning the race or the period between the election and inauguration.

I would rather have Baldilocks on my side any day. I truly admire Baldilocks posts and intelligence. Sure does know how to call out a troll.
