As if “white trash” is any less offensive than other epithets. “Wigger” is even worse. Why not just say “white nigger” since that’s the intended meaning?

But you and your ilk are too afraid of the repercussions. You’re too afraid to own your language because it’s not built upon convictions. It’s based in reactionary anger — not the soundest of foundations upon which to base one’s social posture.

Sorry, ma’am. Your moniker is a bit confusing. I agree that all racial epithets are offensive. I just fail to see how a racial slur against white people somehow is construed as a racial slur against blacks.

You contradict yourself. You agree that racial slurs are offensive. Yet you limit one’s potential to be offended by race. As a black person, I respond to racially-charged language against any group.

I was the one who suggested a direct correlation between the word “wigger” and “nigger.”

Baldilocks simply points out that obvious detail we all know but forget to varying degrees depending on the circumstance — all racial epithets are offensive.

Those of you for whom the label “offensive” is too burdensome need to remember something. Because I point out that something is offensive does not mean I am the one offended by it.

You wusses are so quick to cry and whine about being labeled offensive when the words you use about others target them for ridicule based on race, gender, religion and other push-buttons. If you’re going to call someone “wigger” you probably shouldn’t be such a pussy when someone calls you “offensive.”

It is chic to be an angry, white guy railing against the perceived racial double standards of the liberal thought machine. I get that. But a lot of you gladiators miss the irony of your getting bent out of shape because someone called you “offensive.” Oh the horror!

I appreciate your umbrage on behalf of working class white people, but I can’t agree. The term “white trash,” at least originally, was a derogatory comment about someone’s social class, not his or her race. The fact that many black people now use the term as a racial insult doesn’t make it a racist insult, it just means they’re racists.

You make a great point about the phrase “white trash.” It is first and foremost a class-based attack. But you and I both know the widely-accepted connotation draws upon the ideal that whites are somehow not expected to display those traits of “human trash.” Hence the qualifying modifier “white” precedes the ugly slur towards another human, “trash.”

You make a great leap to suggest that many Blacks use the term though. It’s such a leap that I almost think you’re lying to make yourself or your race look better. IMHO, whites are far and away the most common speakers of the phrase “white trash.” I rarely hear the words spoken from the lips of anybody who is not white.

And if you are offended by me suggesting that you would somehow need to defend your race. I’m sorry to offend, if I have. But your thanking someone for sticking up for your race is just as racially perverse as attacking someone for theirs.

I speak freely from convictions regardless of the company I keep or the feelings I may tweak. When I see someone in my neighborhood who looks like solicitor, I approach them and remind them that many burglars look just like solicitors. Then I proceed to check their creds. When someone uses the language of bigots, I remind them that many bigots look just like jokesters. Then I check their intent.

Long story short. If you’re only offended by racism towards your particular racial group…you might be a racist.

What about the word “nigga?” More often than not, whenever I hear it, it is being used carelessly and openly by some youngish latino or white kid. Do they get a pass if they are self-labeling? What is going to happen when more whites self-label as a “nigga?” Then what?
