Video: The obligatory “Eminem goofs on Palin” clip

posted at 9:20 pm on April 7, 2009 by Allahpundit

Via the ‘Busters. No need to sound the feminist alarm here: It’s only Palin being lumped in with Jessica Simpson, Britney Spears, et al. as a dopey sex object, not Hillary, so everything’s kosher with the sisterhood. As cheap and stupid as this is, and as cheap and stupid as the Johnstons’ tabloid turn was, this does hurt her by playing into the narrative that she’s not to be taken seriously. For every person who read her statement on missile defense last night, a dozen more will watch the Eminem video or the Tyra show and come away thinking she’s a sideshow. It’s not fair but it’s something she has to deal with. I wonder what another two years of it will do to her image by the time of the primaries.

Like Gutfeld says, if this tool had any nuts at all he would have pulled this on Michelle Obama instead of an easy, media-approved target like Palin. That wouldn’t have been right either, but unlike this, it would indeed have been “edgy.” Click the image to watch.

Obama’s fluent in Liliputian.

Dr.Cwac.Cwac on April 7, 2009 at 9:56 PM

Eh, it’s alright… the Palin bit is nothing particularly egregious, and the song is eh. Eminem is very talented, though.

DaveS on April 7, 2009 at 9:56 PM

eminem rocks.

tlynch001 on April 7, 2009 at 9:52 PM

Please tell me why he rocks? In all his music he seems to very antagonistic to women. He even wrote song about killing his wife. He hasn’t done anything “original” since 2001. All his songs sound and look the same. Insert blonde joke here type of stuff. And as for his rapping and writing skills they are pretty weak. Jay-Z seems like poet laureate compared the cheesy stuff Eminem comes up with.

terryannonline on April 7, 2009 at 9:57 PM

No, Aerosmith rocks, Eminem raps.

jimmy2shoes on April 7, 2009 at 9:53 PM

you got me there…except that sad time in Aerosmith’s career when they had to do that rap song with Run DMC.

if you like guys with stupid bleached hair, nasally voices, and increasingly lame rhymes…

blatantblue on April 7, 2009 at 9:59 PM

It’s called the elvis phenomenon. Those of us who love hip hop appreciate Eminem has some lyrical gifts (if his subject matter is really limited) but it’s just really disconcerting to hear people who do not listen to any hop hop talk about how much they enjoy hip hop. I even saw one commentator say that Eminem is a parody of hip hop, like he consciously does one, what a maroon. Eminem does not parody hip hop, he lives to be a hip hop artist. And he’s not horrible, he’s even quite good, I’m just annoyed at non-rap fans who openly are like “well he’s white so I like it.”

Bishop on April 7, 2009 at 10:31 PM

Just another lame irrelevant has been trying to be relevant by trashing someone who is popular and relevant.

And libs say Sarah Palin is irrelevant…

It’s quite funny that Mariah Carey has a song about Eminem called “Clown” and it fits him like a scuba suit.

MobileVideoEngineer on April 7, 2009 at 10:31 PM

Well, “Eminem” sort of has 3 distinct personalities…

1) Slim shady: the first one most people saw way back in the day, tends to be almost a “parody of rap”, obnoxious, very nasally, usually sets out to offend more than anything else, etc.

2) Eminem, the more serious harder-edged, street type

3) Marshall Mathers, the real guy behind the act, who had a rough upbringing, has a daughter, etc

All three personalities come out in his stuff, but this song is definitely the first of the 3.

hawkdriver on April 7, 2009 at 10:31 PM

I don’t get this craptacular rapper’s appeal. He is a misogynist pig of the worst kind, yet I used to hear young girls playing his crappy songs all the time. Like Madonna and her fixation on Catholic bashing. It is sooo much safer to pound on those that won’t lash back. Emme shows he is as much a has-been as Madonna in that he won’t take on the media by choosing a Democrat, just like Allah said.

He could probably get a job writing Dr. Seuss books though.

Dr.Cwac.Cwac on April 7, 2009 at 10:37 PM

Here’s one where he is in the character of “Marshall Mathers”–this is the actual guy who plays “Eminem”–rapping about over, incidentally, one of Aerosmith’s greatest tracks :-).

Here he’s waxing philosophical–er, sort of–about the effect music has on kids and lamenting the fact that kids idolize him and take rappers too seriously, but praising the power that music has to get kids through tough times.

It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but he’s definitely a multifaceted guy.

DaveS on April 7, 2009 at 10:37 PM

I would say Eminem has some pretty substantive stuff (like the one I just linked above).

If you want someone else who sort of mimics Eminems style but has substance (and mimicry is what these people who “sound like him” do), check out K’Naan. Ha! Quote of the day!

Back to that manly rash guy. I read some of those posts and the funniest thing wasn’t the idea that professional pollsters were all wrong and this internet prophet was correct but all of the sad people who would get upset seeing that Grandpa was polling down in VA and PA and NC etc. and would look to this clown for reassurance. They would leave happy because this joker could feel it in his bones that McCain would win.

The guy was like a luddite Jim Jones sans koolaid.

I would say Eminem has some pretty substantive stuff (like the one I just linked above).

If you want someone else who sort of mimics Eminems style but has substance (and mimicry is what these people who “sound like him” do), check out K’Naan. Here he is describing his life in Somalia, mocking gangsta rappers who think they are “hardcore”. Though, he doesn’t really adopt the Eminem style here.

KJ-52 doesn’t mimic, he just happens to sound a lot like Eminem and he was raised in the ghetto of Tampa and was one of the only white kids just like Eminem was in Detroit. In fact KJ-52 says in his Dear Slim song that he used to get mad when people told him that he sounded like Slim Shady and Eminem because he is pretty much the same age as Eminem and started rapping around the same time.

You’ll be happy to know she doesn’t have to endure me forever. She’s dumping me after I leave.

Amazingly enough, crapulus is a GIRL. She gives a bad name to those of us under the double X persuasion.

I appreciate your umbrage on behalf of working class white people, but I can’t agree. The term “white trash,” at least originally, was a derogatory comment about someone’s social class, not his or her race. The fact that many black people now use the term as a racial insult doesn’t make it a racist insult, it just means they’re racists.

You should go visit him. Just add a dot and a com.

HornetSting on April 7, 2009 at 10:55 PM

Oh no! He has his own site! Still waiting for the PUMAs? I don’t know what’s more sad, the fact that he has a site or that there are idiots who visit it.
