Video: Biden explains the War on Terror

Have things gotten so bad in this administration that Joe Biden has to unwind gaffes? Janet Napolitano and Hillary Clinton announced that the US no longer would use “war on terror” to describe the fight against al-Qaeda, the Taliban, and other affiliated terrorist groups. Napolitano went so far as to eschew “terrorism” altogether in favor of “man-caused disasters”. CNN tried getting VP Biden to explain this, and while not accusing CNN of making it up, clearly he couldn’t believe anyone would be this stupid:
I guess Joe’s not on board with the “man caused disasters” nomenclature. Let’s see if we can find a euphemism for terror that Joe can swallow:
- Grievance eruptions
- Unplanned emergency-procedure exercises
- Sympathy opportunities
- Social Security reduction efforts
Any others?

Constitution? What Constitution? Oh, you mean the one Obama, Pelosi, etal shredded? That Constitution???
alwaysright43 on April 7, 2009 at 8:31 PM
Amazing Biden’s statement of Obama goals for Iraq are exactly the same as the Bush plan since 2002! Wow — Change, it’s a good thing, right?

If he’s so concerned with policies that make America weaker, why the cuts to missile defense?
dwford on April 7, 2009 at 8:44 PM
I do believe in freedom — which is why I understand the gov’t needs to keep some things secret while it’s protecting mine.

Great.
So he can do anything he wants in the name of security.

If I ever need a brain transplant, I want Joe’s.
He hasn’t used it yet.

A series of discreet problems, Joe?
I think you mean distinct.

Oh man, this country is such a voter-caused disaster right now.

Nice straw man, I dig it.
If you think that keeping certain intel sources a secret turns the gov’t into Big Brother, you’re an idiot.
Discrete.

Isn’t that amazing? Both major parties had their tickets flipped upside down.
Translation for the dense among us – I sure wish Joe was running foreign policy instead of the lunatics programming the TOTUS.

Biden apparently missed the Democrats efforts at extending the War on Terror to allow Obama to throw the switch and turn off access to the Internet in case of a terrorist attack. You all are supporting that bill, right? You’re with us, or you’re against us!
….I feel safer already.
popularpeoplesfront on April 7, 2009 at 10:47 PM
So joe says “war on terror” instead of “global war on terror” meaning (to him) that Iraq is excluded form that (not mentioning Iran’s fiddling in their cupcakes) however the war in Afghanistan IS a war on terror….just not global.
Ok.
He’s still stupid.
Spiritk9 on April 7, 2009 at 10:58 PM
I think Joe Biden did well enough in responding but it’s clear that Islam or Islam inspired terror, which is ever a subtext in all these “man caused disasters”, is always protected by its never being mentioned.
Wish we could have heard Biden’s response at the end to the question of allowing men in Afghanistan to rape their wives. That too has a background in the fundamentalist interpretation of the Koran. Again Islam is embarrassingly at the center of annoying matters but it cannot be mentioned. It is the putrefied ideological core of the mid-East conflicts and outrages that, for political expediency, must be covered over.

Wolf is thinking to himself. Thank God I don’t have to interview Cheney as VP anymore I just have to spoon feed this lightweight….
Caper29 on April 8, 2009 at 12:24 AM
Man, he’s dumb.
Last I heard Al Queda had cells operating in over 60 countries worldwide.
So, now its down to a couple of rocky outcroppings in Pakistan?
So the Global War on Terror is pretty much a mop up operation, now?
Maybe that’s what he meant.
And maybe the Prostrate President was “just bending over to shake hands” with the King Abdullah.
Saltysam on April 8, 2009 at 12:34 AM
If this idiot was a Republican VP, I’d still be repulsed by him.
What’s amazing is that these Libtards still stick up for him no matter how inept he is.

Poor Joe.
I honestly liked Biden more than most liberal dems before the election. I thought he was a bit of a mav and sorta endearing…spoke his mind. Kinda genuine in his goofyness.
He probably doesnt like being vp as much as he thought he would.

“man caused disasters”???
Notice how quickly so-called feminists are to give up on gender neutral terms when its describing something bad. we must use terms like chairperson and congress person and humankind, but its MAN caused disasters. Is Napolitano a man hater?
American Elephant on April 8, 2009 at 8:10 PM
The only thing creepier would be Bin-Biden explaining the facts of life to a circle of children…kind of a botoxed, drunken, Amtrak-riding Art Linkletter if you will.
