Very mild from Rush; Levin would have knocked that clown’s head through his ass.

I’m not a regular listener anymore, but I did listen quite a bit back in the early 90s. Rush’s big weakness is he rarely goes for the jugular with the more clownish callers.
But the guy didn’t. I have no idea if Rush ever actually endorsed the use of torture. If he did then he should be called out on it like the guy did. If the guy made it up then he’s a liar. But it doesn’t make him a RINO or not a conservative. As someone else noted, it was logically fallacious on Rush’s part to go after him because he was attempting to hold Rush accountable, something he’s not use to. He blew a fuse and didn’t handle it nearly as intelligently as he could’ve. Instead he let the guy get under his skin and make him produce a less than stellar response.
And he does it very well, thankyewverymuch! Randi the sidewalk kisser’d love to have even a tenth of Rush’s ratings.
BTW folks, I found out what Sesqui’s name means, “a foot and a half long” or “a word composed of many syllables.” He/she/it probably couldn’t even spell antidisestablishmentarianism, or that would’ve been the name.
Whenever I hear an alleged GI trounce another patriotic citizen for not serving or trounce the quality of another veteran’s honorable service, my Jesse MacBeth alarm goes off.

Bingo Baldi, I could not agree more, alarms were flashing during that call.
Frankly I would suggest that Rush has done more for the military then some anonymous caller, when we dont know anything about the caller.
He very well may have served honorably. There’s no reason to smear his military record. Plenty of people served honorably and still have wacko liberal opinions.
My grandfather, who served in WWII, once remarked, when my uncle gave me a tan winter hat for Christmas, “You can wear that when your president sends you to Iraq.” I have no doubt he served honorable. He earned a Purple Heart.
People can have dishonorable, disgraceful, deceitful opinions that differ from their seemingly honorable behavior.
I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.
Seems to me that when a military person uses their service to stifle free speech hey are breaking their oath.
Lee Harvey Oswald was a vet.
Timothy McVeigh was a vet.
Murtha is a vet.
I am a vet.
Being a vet does not give one Absolute Moral Authority nor does it give the majority of us any special insights into torture or Nazis or when we should or shouldn’t fight wars.
If people here believe it does then every time an issue of torture or war comes up you need to just shut the hell up and let us vets decide for you what’s right and wrong.
Well said. I was typing up something similar; good thing I refreshed before posting. You said it better, and I can keep my comment shorter.
I had a similar experience just last Sunday with an older friend of mine, a Viet Nam vet and a die-hard Democrat, and I know his service was honorable. I was just a kid, but I remember when he came back from the war, and some of the crap he had to endure from the anti-war folks.
While I have my doubts that this caller is even a RINO, I will say that I have little sympathy for the treatment of known terrorists, especially since they don’t believe in the Golden Rule of Combat:
Do not commit any act on the enemy that you would find reprehensible if they, in turn, did the same thing to you or those whom you love.
That is why we have the Geneva Convention rules on warfare and the treatment of prisoners, which no enemy of ours has adhered to since its inception.
At my blog, I used to have some leftist come and lambaste me for being a coward. I use my real name there but this particular leftist would not only used a nom de guerre, but also a fake email address. That’s when I realized that many Leftist are delusional.
baldilocks on April 7, 2009 at 11:17 PM
For some reason, baldi, I just know, you strongly suspected it long before that.
I agree. Levin would have eviscerated that guy. Rush was very mild. I’ve only heard a few Rush hours but I’ve never heard him lay out a caller like Levin or even Beck. Hannity doesn’t have it in him to be mean to a caller either. If you want mean freak out listen to Colmes.
I didn’t understand the Nazi reference. Are the Nazi’s the only people who ever tortured beside the US ever? Really?
So this guy hates every radio host but is a Republican?
Hardly.
Second he all too easily making reference to our troops killing prisoners by way of torture while being a veteran? and then he asked “You ever hear of Klaus Barbie?” This is someone who whips out the Nazi reference so often that he couldn’t keep it from bubbling up when he was trying to maintain his anger at Rush supporting Hillary. He is from Chicago. My guess is he got upset about Rush supporting Hillary because his hometown boy Obama was on the losing end of that play.
Seriously he brings up the Democrat primary at this point as an argument about what? The fact Obama is President and then describes it as sour grapes? That implies he thinks Rush seriously wanted Hillary to be President.
This guy fruther exposes himself by talking about the fact he objects to Rush constatntly critizing Obama no matter what he does. Is that a McCain supporter or a Republican chastizing Rush about Obama criticism?
Hell no it is an Obama brainwashed robot who can’t keep his lie straight long enough to fake his way through a phone call where he is supposed to be a Republican dissapointed in Rush but you could never follow the reasoning because it was constantly back an forth from the Obama supporter the guy is and who he was trying to pretend to be.
Why is this veteran lying about the American torture record?
What a tool. He’s the one who’s brainwashed.

No, just what Limbaugh used to call a “seminar caller”. Does he still use that term?

When I heard this on the radio this afternoon, I thought Rush was extremely patient. This guy is a seminar caller: “I’m an ex-marine and vote Republican, but you lost us the election and you are a Nazi and a torturer.” Surprised he got through Bo Snerdly. But Rush let him talk until it was obvious that he was just a troll. And Rush is right: ignorance is the most dangerous commodity we have in this country and the left is so full of it, they don’t know which party controls Congress!

And come to think of it, if this is the quote of the day, AP, you could get similar quotes every day. It’s sort of like saying getalife vs. any conservative on this blog is the quote of the day:
“I’m fiercly independent, but now that O’s president, the adults are in charge.” “Get a clue getalife.” We see that every day. Quote of the day?

“I voted Republican… you’re a brainwashed Nazi… .”
One thing that always amused me… was how throughout history torture has been used to get information.
…but it was not until Modern times that suddenly, we realize torture does not work…
Romeo13 on April 8, 2009 at 12:14 AM
As long as you’re careful to corroborate the information, torture is an EXTRMELY efficient, and often necessary, way to gather military intelligence.
The only time torture “doesn’t work” is when it’s used the way that liberals’ favorite “Workers’ Paradise” governments always use it: To try and force people to love Big Brother.
Being in the military doesn’t give you moral authority. Now having been in the Infantry… now THAT’S moral authority.
I love Rush. I teach and I get to listen to him for a couple of segments during my lunch break at school. He makes my day and never fails to bring me joy.
Now ya think that through THOUSANDS of years… if it did not work… we would have figured that out…
but it was not until Modern times that suddenly, we realize torture does not work…
Although I get your point, to be fair, bloodletting, for example, went on for quite a long time, with our ancestors apparently oblivious to the fact that it virtually always did much more harm than good, and was frequently fatal.
You are a moron. Vocalize your thoughts three hours a day, five days a week for twenty years. You are an imbecile and a pathetic refuse pile of exposed thought.
Now ya think that through THOUSANDS of years… if it did not work… we would have figured that out…

You’re confusing politics with science. And to be perfectly frank, they are not at all similar.
Taxing our way into prosperity and borrowing our way out of debt is analogous to using leeches to cure disease. Both are based on precisely zero proof or common sense: They are accepted as articles of blind faith. And the more times they fail, the stronger that faith becomes.
Are you saying that you don’t understand that torture can make someone divulge information? If so I can offer a demonstration to overcome your burden of observation. Or are you saying that a new technique has been scientifically proven that is demonstrably superior to torture? If so, please share that abstract with rest of the class.
Rush was very level headed in this “exchange”. Rush let him rant and rave for alot longer than most. If you want the real redmeat crazy ranting you’d have to listen to Michael Savage. He makes Mark Levin’s banter with callers mellow.
One of the Hot Air leftists called Bertolt Brecht a NAZI last night. So apparently is Rush. And Bush 43 of course. And Bush 41. And I’m guessing Patton and Eisenhower. And those German guys – what were their names? Bonhoeffer? Stuaffenberg? Von Kliest?
Funny how when leftists take a look around, everyone they don’t like is a NAZI.
Projection ain’t just a river in Egypt. Or something like that.
The only time torture “doesn’t work” is when it’s used the way that liberals’ favorite “Workers’ Paradise” governments always use it: To try and force people to love Big Brother.
logis on April 8, 2009 at 12:28 AM
A few years ago the Germans threaten a child kidnapper with torture. And sure enough, when the police officer made it clear he was going to beat (or worse) the miscreant until he talked, he gave up the location of the body.
I believe the Germans though there was a strong chance the child was still alive when they decided to try and extract the information from the man, and wanted to make sure they had a chance to save the child. I’m sure they had in mind what happened with the Dutroux case in Belgium.
So, here a credible threat of torture worked – which tends to invalidate the talking point that torture does not work.
For being the “reality” based community, the Left sure doesn’t care to much about reality.
Operation Chaos was pointless. Rush should have known that pro-abortion Hillary voting feminists were going to vote for Obama no matter how close she got to winning.
When’s the last time you heard Axelturfing, Chickenhawking and Godwinning in a single call? The Andy Sipowicz accent was pretty much a giveaway that he’s probably part of the Chicago machine. I liked the claim that he was both a Marine and ex-Army. “Y’ever hear o’ da Newenberg trials, huh, huh?”
Are you saying that you don’t understand that torture can make someone divulge information?
logis on April 8, 2009 at 12:49 AM
What I’m saying, is that the argument that because something has been believed to be efficacious for thousands of years, it must be efficacious, is not a legitimate argument.
After all, I didn’t say anything about torture per se, my complaint was, and is, about precisely the argument you re-quoted: “Now ya think that through THOUSANDS of years… if it did not work… we would have figured that out…”
There are many, many things that did not work for thousands of years, that we persisted in doing, nonetheless.
I offered no opinion on the efficacy of torture; in fact, I was willing to grant it (as you might infer from my statement “I get your point.”)
“You’re confusing politics with science.”
Torture is politics? Whether torture works or not, is, in fact, science. Your own snarky stupidity: “If so I can offer a demonstration to overcome your burden of observation,” shows that you see, yourself, that the question of the efficacy of torture is essentially scientific (provable or disprovable).
For someone calling him/herself “logis,” the basic elements of logic seem to be eluding you….
Operation Chaos was pointless. Rush should have known that pro-abortion Hillary voting feminists were going to vote for Obama no matter how close she got to winning.
Speedwagon82 on April 8, 2009 at 1:11 AM
I think most people believed a significant percentage of women who were voting for Hillary based on her gender would be so outraged by Obama’s supposed sexism that they would cross the line and vote for Maverick. Then Mav even called in Palin to make the case even stronger.
A lot of people bought that…so Rush shouldnt have “known better”.
A miscalculation on many people’s part. If you are the type of person who votes on gender…you probably will always vote democrat.
I liked the claim that he was both a Marine and ex-Army.
Chickyraptor on April 8, 2009 at 1:14 AM
I’m both Marine and ex-Army. Not all that unusual really.
jdkchem on April 8, 2009 at 1:20 AM
“Unusual” is a relative term. About one American in a hundred is or has been a Marine. Of those, less than (I’m guessing) one in ten have also served in another Branch.
So you’re at one in a thousand right off the bat. Not what I would call particularly likely, but certainly within the realm of believability.
Among those, somewhere around 75% vote Republican, so no huge deal there. But once you get past that point, it starts to get a little bit weird.
Of that already-select group, how many would call a radio talk show to publically proclaim their intelligence-gathering brethren, Shawn Hannity, Mark Levin, Rush Limbaugh – and (albeit mumblingly) everyone who criticizes Barak Obama to all be “Brainwashed Nazis”? I’m guessing that initial 0.075% starts dropping off pretty rapidly.
Anything’s possible, but after a certain point you just have to start asking WTF?
Wow. Boneheads are boneheads. Why, again, does that shock anyone?
As others have said, being a vet doesn’t give you moral authority, it just means you’re a vet. Thanks for that but don’t prop up your soapbox with your DD214 if that’s all you got. Bricks, maybe a hydralic jack, would work better.
Liberals didn’t care that Bill Clinton was a sexist because all they cared about was abortion and other kinds of pandering.`Picking a pro-choice male Republican would have done more to get those dumb Hillary voters than just picking a female conservative like Palin.
jdkchem: I’m both Marine and ex-Army. Not all that unusual really.
Yeah? Well, first off thanks for your service, but secondly I have no reason to believe that this caller was either one, given the context of the call.

It really bugs me when the “sour grapes” analogy is used incorrectly. It is no wonder this country has declined in the art of conversation and comprehension. And what is the result? The election of a Marxist whitey hating fraud and the emergence of traitorous RINO’s in the GOP.
Sour grapes refers to a person whom wanted something soooooo bad that he put all his energy into obtaining it. And once he failed and gave up, he claims he never wanted it in the first place and then despised it. I have NEVER heard Rush, or most conservatives for that matter, ever claim to want something and then say he really didn’t want it after he failed and then go on to demonize it. We are entirely too rational for that behavior. Now mooonbats on the other hand, well, that seems like it’s right up their alley.
Most of us have used the analogy incorrectly at least once in our life. If you have, this is your opportunity to rectify that.
It’s 3 am and the phone is ringing. It seems Oslime-a is being thumbnosed at by a bunch of 3rd world hoodlums. How long will this hostage crisis last and how much money will it cost us to free them?
People do not go from conservative to liberal. It just can’t happen given that conservatives hold truth to be the the one goal in almost all issues.
That is why liberals are children, they go off of feelings and are still thinking of themselves. That is why they are less charitable too. Over time, many of them become conservatives as they mature.
Now, can a Republican become a Democrat? Sometimes, but it is far more rare than the number of people who have gone from Democrat to Republican. If someone leaves the GOP, it is usually a frustration of the GOP and they become independent, but not running to the arms of the Democrats.
Conservatism is the end result of maturity. That goes for Libertarians too. Their wisdom over time tells them that more freedom is a good thing for themselves and the republic.
In my opinion, the caller is typical of those whose information and news comes exclusively from the old, biased main stream media. Garbage in, garbage out.
That was a seminar caller, sent by the DNC. This is obvious.

What a ludicrous claim.
NAIROBI, Kenya — Somali pirates on Wednesday hijacked a U.S.-flagged cargo ship with 20 American crew members aboard, FOX News has learned.
The 17,000-ton Maersk Alabama was carrying emergency relief to Mombasa, Kenya at the time it was hijacked, said Peter Beck-Bang, spokesman for the Copenhagen-based container shipping group A.P. Moller-Maersk.
One has to wonder if this would have happened on Bush’s watch. Pirates have attacked ships before….but they were never stupid enough to attack one under an American flag, until now that is. These terrorist scumbags know that Obama will do nothing but try to “understand” these people and therefore are getting braver and braver.

2 an anonymous caller who claims to be a vet is obviously not a veteran if he doesn’t spew rightie garbage
3 Anybody without military service has less credibility and less right to speak on a wide range of topics, but Rush, who has no military service, is given a pass on this
4 righties who complain about Obama are patriotic because they really care about the country but lefties who complained about Bush hate America
5 there are no Dems in the military and there never have been
Rush is almost always right… ahead of the curve. How many hundreds (thousands?) of times have we heard Rush play clips from various “news” outlets where you hear the exact same phrase used by MSNBC, NBC, CBS, CNN, et al? When he does that, it becomes obvious that there is coordination with the DNC. How many times did you think his analysis was counter-intuitive… and then a few days or weeks later, you found it to be spot on?
I am always a skeptic but I’ve learned to believe the “truth detector” until he’s proven wrong…. and I’m still waiting.
Whoa there little buckaroo. I only insinuated his Conservative creds were in question. Don’t put words in all of our mouths. I’ve known a couple extreme lefty vets. He could have been telling the truth about that part. I don’t think even most trolls would lie about that.
He was surely and clearly, no Conservative Republican.
That was a seminar caller, sent by the DNC. This is obvious.

When I heard the caller on Rush yesterday, I thought it sounded a lot (verbage, not voice) like that person who was posting here last week in the Meghan McCain/Jabba the Rush thread.
That person was going off on Rush for playing the Brokeback Mountain parodies during the primaries and general election. And the Rush caller, until he got to the Nazi part reminded me of him.
Rush on target: this particular critic IS the most expensive commodity this country has, a faux hero leach who is not worth diddly-squat, just the “kind” of Republican that McCain attracted.
Those who call Rush Limbaugh a brainwashed Nazi are ignorant brainwashed Leftist-fed zombies. That this critic feigned to have served BOTH in the Marines AND the Army to be privy to information that GWB allowed prisoners to be killed when GWB wouldn’t even permit the APPEARANCE of misconduct (dog leash and girly undies) from those serving America, whether capturing, guarding or interrogating prisoners.
Limbaugh did not go nuclear, btw, as he maintained composure during his response. He let the critic go on and on until the critic was only repeating his self repetition. I’m glad he turned off the caller’s voice finally in order to respond without a shouting match. It IS Limbaugh’s show.
Limbaugh is absolutely correct. Leftist-raised people haven’t the foggiest idea of the real proportions of tripe that they have brainwashed themselves to see, think, believe and spew (always under the impression of good intention). It is THEY who fail to research accurate and reliable sources for information. Instead of legitimate research, they regurgitate urban myth as scientific knowledge. AS IF “Everyone knows” how eeeevil conservatives are by nature.
Talk about sour grapes, it is the ignorant Leftist who is stuck on stupid still blaming Bush.

Really?
BrideOfRove on April 8, 2009 at 12:03 AM
One thing that always amused me… was how throughout history torture has been used to get information.
Now ya think that through THOUSANDS of years… if it did not work… we would have figured that out…
but it was not until Modern times that suddenly, we realize torture does not work…
Wow… our ancestors must have been stupid…
Or…. not…
Romeo13 on April 8, 2009 at 12:14 AM

So, what is the damned “quote” even supposed to be here?
Some seminar caller gets through, calls Rush a “Nazi”, and Rush says that the guy’s lying about being a Republican.
This just seems like a completely random snip from the show – and not even one of the better parts.

Chickyraptor on April 8, 2009 at 1:14 AM

If you have, this is your opportunity to rectify that.

csdeven on April 8, 2009 at 6:15 AM
