Video: Beloved ex-president gets rousing ovation at baseball game
posted at 5:55 pm on April 6, 2009 by Allahpundit
His approval rating’s somehow gotten worse since he left office, but no matter: In Texas he can do no wrong. Dubya’s used to that, though. Did you know that his job approval at the start of his first term was the most polarized by party in modern history? Oh, wait — I mean second-most polarized.
For the record, this isn’t the most enjoyable baseball-related story of the day. This is. Click the image to watch.

I just tried to watch it and now it says the “video is unavailable.” Sabotage?

Double dose of goodness for the end of a busy Monday. JUST what I needed. Bush throws as strike and a kid gets to see his dad. Having a 6yr-old son I’m a sucker for those videos. :-)
Barry plays basketball, doesn’t mean he’s an athlete. Can he get the ball over the plate? Will he girly throw it like he girly bowls? We’ll see.

More like Hoover to FDR. Hoover was a big government Republican, and very hands on, contrary to the ‘laissez-faire’ image our ‘educators’ have given us. Tax the rich, trade wars, stimulus, all Hoover. FDR simply continued those policies at first, before running like hell with the power the adoring masses had allowed him. Kinda like now, no?

God love you, W. May history be kinder to you than some of your nutty fellow citizens.

I feel safer knowing he and Cheney are no where near Washington, if its an acccomplishment to get cheered as a former President in your own state, well then congrats on that Bush. Wait to like, hit a ball of a tee there.
DeathToMediaHacks on April 6, 2009 at 7:37 PM
Let’s ask DTMH…he’s a professor of history and all…
*snicker*
BigWyo on April 6, 2009 at 7:39 PM
DeathToMediaHacks:
Bush is ten times the man Obama will ever be. And so far the only thing Obama has done, is bankrupt the country and break promises. Obama is like the Democrats in Louisiana who took the money meant for levies and used it to line his pocket while he demanded more. Obama is like demagogue Huey Long who built his support on hate and envy. I could go on.
Bush would also be cheered in my state. He would be cheered at any military base. People like you like to believe that Obama is universally loved and Bush is universally hated. Neither one is true. But then you believe a lot of things that are not true. And Obama counts on sheep like you to get him what he wants.

George W. Bush was and is a good man. I miss him. I felt safe with him and Cheney in the White House. Such admirable men. God bless them.
jencab on April 6, 2009 at 7:45 PM
Yes, the Democrats in Lousiana helped make Jindal possible. But DTMH and people like that did their best to use a natural disaster for political purposes. It is not as if they really care about people. Hence, when the next big hurricanes came through and things went better, they were not interested. If they can not use it to beat some Republican over the head with they just do not care about it.
Terrye on April 6, 2009 at 7:47 PM
I’d love to see the filthy liar throw out “the first ball” but that would just harken back to the way he attacked Special Olympics. Better the bastard is out of the country giving away our security than disproving the mythology of his being.

Amen, Terrye. I lived in Mississippi during Katrina, grew up on the Coast and lived within 80 when it hit. I watched my old hope wiped out. Thank God (thanking God a lot today) for Haley Barbour. A day after the hurricane he was on the Coast, on the phone, and taking command (and the blame).
There is so much more to go still. But the effort by Barbour will not be forgotten. As for Louisiana, where I live now and I love as well, it was the victim of a sad blame game worthy of another place to talk about. The results can be seen with a governor gone after one term (the first in 20 years in Louisiana) and a representative in the House dodging the feds.
itsspideyman on April 6, 2009 at 7:53 PM
Joe Biden threw out the first pitch today for the Baltimore O’s. He was boo’ed when introduced and boo’ed louder the second time he was announced. It was awesome.
Over30 on April 6, 2009 at 7:56 PM
The difference is that Barbour was looking as to how to make things better going forward. Blanco and Nagin were looking to get back the status quo. I lived in New Orleans until recently and it saddened me to see all the opportunities squandered in the name of getting things back to the way they were before Katrina.
highhopes on April 6, 2009 at 7:57 PM
You sure? Democrats being boo’ed in Baltimore is pretty much a sign of the second coming.

What part of the mission wasn’t accomplished in Iraq? We removed the WMDs (Saddam and his sons) and have established a functioning government there.
As for job creation, when is Dear Leader gonna create some?
Del Dolemonte on April 6, 2009 at 8:50 PM
BTW the new C-BS News/NY Times “poll” is out. Once again, they vastly over-sampled Democrats to achieve the desired results. By almost 20 percent, to be exact.
Del Dolemonte on April 6, 2009 at 8:52 PM
After seeing this, I had to click on the Obama clock to see how much longer this awful dream would be. GWB was the first president I was old enough to vote for, and I don’t regret it. The man wasn’t perfect and didn’t pretend to be (unlike Bambi who told the infobabe that he’s never unsure of himself). He did lots of things that I was not happy with, but unlike the drones, I can admit w/o fear that I disagreed with him.
Dear God, five months later, I’m still in shock.

The only time you’re ever going to see Oblather on the deck of a ship with all hands present is to hear him say ‘This vessel is no longer needed for my brave new world and is hereby decommissioned.’
Shut your pie hole you goddamed douche bag.

Admitted draft dodger Bill Clinton staged 4 photo ops on aircraft carriers as pResident. That’s 4 times as many as Bush did.
Any military vessel, from aircraft carrier down to buoy tender, displays a Mission Accomplished banner on returning from deployment. But since 99% of all Leftists are totally ignorant about the military, they don’t know that.

capitulus on April 6, 2009 at 9:17 PM
First of all, the intel that Bush used to convince Congress to sign off on the war came from the previous (Democrat) Administration.
Second, the “bogus war” was authorized by Congress, after the United Nations refused to enforce its own Resolutions against Saddam.
Germany and Italy never attacked us, but we declared war on them. So that silly excuse won’t work, either.
BTW, did you know that a Bill Clinton-appointed Federal Judge heard the evidence and then ruled in a lawsuit by families of 9/11 victims that Iraq was in fact involved in the 9/11 attacks?
Thanks for playing, kid. Please have Carville give you some better material.

Cleaning GWB’s ‘mess’ by multiplying his deficit by 4?
What a strange world the liberal world must be.
carbon_footprint on April 6, 2009 at 9:30 PM
LOL. Let’s see. Bush got degrees from two Ivy League schools, including a Masters in Business Administration at Harvard. He also learned to fly one of the most dangerous fighter planes in US military aviation history, the F-102 Delta Dagger.
Yet his 2000 “opponent” first flunked out of one college, then dropped out of another. He then spent most of his time at Harvard shooting pool and smoking marijuana.
His 2004 “opponent” kept his military records a secret, because his SATs and college grades were lower than Bush’s.
You’re dismissed.

In the aftermath of 9/11 the strength, raw emotion, and compassion I saw in Bush made an impact on me. I was driving into Amarillo on the Friday after 9/11 and their were people standing on a bridge waving American flags and waving and I broke down in tears. I felt such a rush of pride and love for this country and my president. I cannot understand the left’s hatred of traditional American values.
