Quote of the day

posted at 9:30 pm on April 5, 2009 by Allahpundit

“Mr. Poplawski’s view of guns and personal freedom took a turn toward the fringes of American politics. With Mr. Perkovic, he appeared to share a belief that the government was controlled from unseen forces, that troops were being shipped home from the Mideast to police the citizenry here, and that Jews secretly ran the country

Believing most media were covering up important events, Mr. Poplawski turned to a far-right conspiracy Web site run by Alex Jones, a self-described documentarian with roots going back to the extremist militia movement of the early 1990s.

Around the same time, he joined Florida-based Stormfront, which has long been a clearinghouse Web site for far-right groups. He posted photographs of his tattoo, an eagle spread across his chest.”

Poplawski was more the Far Right type who barricaded himself in his house like a Ruby Ridge/militia type stand off…

AprilOrit on April 6, 2009 at 2:59 AM

Fidel Castro didn’t barricade himself in his house, he took his guns and militia and overthrew the government of Cuba…. so is the difference between the far left and the far right whether or not they barricade themselves in their home or actively seek to overthrow their government?

Your type has narrowed the Party, those three are what’s left outside of the Deep South.

AprilOrit on April 6, 2009 at 2:59 AM

ROFLMAO!!!

April, I think you’re up past your bedtime. So,let me get this straight…

we need to scrap the entire GOP and start all over with these three, and that will expand the Party?

I can’t breathe, I’m laughing so hard.

Your a funny girl. I thought you were serious there, for a moment!

What have you done to help The Party?

sent money, voted, participated in my caucus as a delegate, voted on the state GOP platforms, made phonecalls, drove little old ladies to the polls (once), walked neighborhoods, met with my congressman, state legislators, mayor, city councilman, and county supervisors…

and called my senators, and demonstrated in front of the Harry Ried’s office in Nevada.

I have met and organized with Party activists. Also, I have participated in round tables with a meeting of the minds with right wing activists that cover the entire spectrum of right wing thought, so we could know each other a little better and discuss our differences.

What the f*&^k have you done?

Saltysam on April 6, 2009 at 3:16 AM

And what bombs has he set off recently?

AprilOrit on April 6, 2009 at 2:59 AM

Do we have to wait till they start shooting rockets into the our population? Like Israel?

I’m a jew, believe me, they are not Left leaning in the least.

AprilOrit, you are a liberal. I feel sorry for you.

You would give up your freedoms, and indeed your life, if only you could feel accepted by….. moderates… left or right and all fringes between.

You would give up your individualism, your happiness, your reason, just to be liked by those that take advantage of you, that would kill you, that hate you.

Your argument is not of reason, it’s a garden for flies.

What Bombs has he set off lately? He’s teaching.

Upstater85 on April 6, 2009 at 3:02 AM

There is no such thing. Out-in-Orbit wants to believe that moderate is the altenative to extreme. She is wrong. In the context of positions of principle, moderate is the opposite of passionate. It is the position of the moral coward. There can be no honest moderate platform, because moderates have no foundation upon which to build.

Obama your words have meanings. Your votes on any issue can be found by anyone online in the public records-the groups that try to blame one side or the other have this reality-If Obama did not vote antigun-the record would not reflect it. The crazy man who read the record could have been left right or moderate, but your PUBLIC voting record Obama was the trigger, not the left, not the right, and not the moderate– for that you have only yourself to blame.

AprilOrit, is there any such thing as a “moderate principle”?

From what I’ve observed, moderates have no core principles. They approach every dispute as an exercise in positioning themselves in “the middle”, no matter what the ridiculous result may be. If the debate is over whether or not puppies should be skinned alive for fun, a moderate will stake out a stance that says puppies should only be skinned alive for fun on even-numbered dates.

Moderates are vain and care nothing for truth or principles. They seek popularity above all else, even though it requires spaghetti-spined compromise. Once they find their precious middle ground, they smugly assert their self-righteous moral superiority over everyone else.

So, AprilOrit, what principles do you believe in? Is there anything you’ll defend to your last breath, even if everyone else in the world disagrees?

Dean Vernon Wormer

Zero point two… Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son.

Is there any “conservative message” left except for a Republican cheer-leading squad?

The Dean on April 6, 2009 at 5:11 AM

Why don’t you enlighten us on your message…

“Those Stormfront folks are really nice. Great Conservatives, too. You should go check out their website. It’s really, really TOO BAD this Poplawski guy posted one message there. Stormfront and Alex Jones are going to get dragged into this and it’s SO UNFAIR because they are just great, upstanding people.

Like me.”

Your Friendly Neighborhood Stormfront Supporter

That distinct anti-Jew message from the Ron Paul kooks, if you really consider them Republicans.

Knowing that the Dean was an Alex Jones kook to boot would have explained a lot of things too. I’m surprised Dean has the nads to come here after Alex Jones almost had Michelle Malkin beat up in Denver.

He had me at “stupid little shooting.”

I’m not sure this is an RP supporter. I think it’s someone from the DK… RP supporters don’t sneer at the “conservative message.”

I’m still trying to understand manofaiki’s stance on things… /sarc

OK, I’m out, but good luck batting at the trolls. Getalife should be coming out of her cave anytime now. She’ll really enlightens us with her deep insight into the 2nd Amendment and all…

Devout RP Supporter. He beats his children too. He actually admitted to beating his children here on a Hot Air thread.

Extremes meet. There is very little difference between extreme left and extreme right. They are almost always dictatorial, anti semitic, anti government and paranoid.

MB4:

In many ways I consider myself a moderate, in fact most Americans do. It is the largest single group. I think these kinds of terms of often subjective.

In other words, I know people on the right who think I am too liberal and I know people on the left who think I am a wingnut. It never occurs to any of them that they might be wrong and that they can not both be right.

And I also think that this whole silly argument about bad moderates and such helped elect Obama. The need for purity by some conservatives did nothing more than alienate many of the people they have the most in common with. Hence we have a narcissistic, silly, soft, Utopian minded president who has no idea what the hell he is doing.

Everything gets politicized these days.

First off, three policemen were killed in this vicious attack. My thoughts and prayers are with them and their families.

Secondly, I believe in the 2nd amendment as much as anyone, but I’ve never understood why there is no ban on assault rifles. With that being said, I also worry about what’s happening with our freedoms under the ogabe admin. We’re being turned into a banana republic by an anti-American empty suit who’s never held a real job in his life (a voting “present” endlessly campaigning senator at any level doesn’t count as a real job).

Thirdly, why is this killer still breathing? He deserved that POS Mixon’s fate, but instead will be allowed to milk the prison system for the next 50 years.

Sweet_Thang on April 6, 2009 at 6:54 AM

My “message”, old-fashioned Rothbardianism has little to do with what the mainstream of the Republican party has done since Nixon.

The Dean on April 6, 2009 at 6:56 AM

I don’t largely agree with the Stormfront folks (many of which are national-socialist), but still an unfair attack is what it is…
