Quote of the day

posted at 9:30 pm on April 5, 2009 by Allahpundit

“Mr. Poplawski’s view of guns and personal freedom took a turn toward the fringes of American politics. With Mr. Perkovic, he appeared to share a belief that the government was controlled from unseen forces, that troops were being shipped home from the Mideast to police the citizenry here, and that Jews secretly ran the country

Believing most media were covering up important events, Mr. Poplawski turned to a far-right conspiracy Web site run by Alex Jones, a self-described documentarian with roots going back to the extremist militia movement of the early 1990s.

Around the same time, he joined Florida-based Stormfront, which has long been a clearinghouse Web site for far-right groups. He posted photographs of his tattoo, an eagle spread across his chest.”

Alex Jones is not far right, nor is he far left, he and his kind are in there own far stupid world. These people are not lunatic fringe, they are lunatics.

To call them right is a contradiction in logic. I consider far right a Pat Robertson loon type. A far left loon would be Ward Churchill. Jones and his Nazi boot licking followers are the criminally insane and should be locked up in GITMO along with their Islamic Love Mates.

Good God, I didn’t know Jones ran as a Republican candidate in Texas back in 2000. I know he was a huge supporter of Ron Paul.

He’s on the order of Pat Buchanan, the old world Far Right palieoconservtaive loon, anti immiagration in general, anti-globalization, anti-anything that they think will alter their little world as they think they know it.

This killer sounds the same, was probably a paulbot, these types are so Far Right they are Left, like Jones.

But unfortunately they are all Republicans, that’s the bigger problem.

The owner of Stormfront’s son won on the GOP ticket in Florida’s state election and the Florida GOP wouldn’t seat him becuase he is an admitted racist. David Duke was trying to get him seated.

Bishop on April 5, 2009 at 10:20 PM

There have been armed leftist revolutionaries all over the world for many decades but it doesn’t make them right-wing, at least not by American political standards, regardless of any similarities. The white supremacists I’ve heard about, especially neo-Nazi’s, are leftists, and have been since the beginning of the movement. Don’t fall into the relativistic trap. Just because many Jihadi’s carry rifles as our founding fathers did doesn’t indicate equivalence. The gulf between the two is the difference between freedom and tyranny.

Second, no matter what party you belong to, you should still want to preserve the Constitution – else you are planning a revolution.

Not too much.

Mixon was a typical repeat offender/rapist who shot the cops who pulled him over because he didn’t want to go back to prison, nevert-the-less a murderer and a killer. Poplawski put on a bullet proof vest and laid waiting for the cops to come into his house with every intention to shoot them, becuase his mother freaked out over the dog urinating on her carpet. he was expelled from both school and the milityary but I don’t think he had a serious record like Mixon.

That’s what I thought, April.

The entire house GOP voted against the bill, and the rest of the Senate GOP voted against cloture over extremely significant distinctions on economic policy and limited government.

Their votes kept debate off the Senate floor, gave NOONE time to read it before a vote, kept the American public out of the discussion, and steamrolled the bill right into the Democrat controlled Senate’s hands.

Yet, you believe that these three Senators underhanded snubbing of the entire Republican party on the biggest spending bill in world history is just a little dose of moderation, like a Mitt or a Rudy.

Gimme a freakin’ break. You can’t justofy what they did without spinning like a top.

Your being disingenuous and inconsistent. You don’t even know who I am, and you call me unwelcome in the Party, with your “you people” and “you’d be happier” schtick.

Bill Ayers is a completely different egg than the Stormfront types, he is a Left leaning Democrat who supports big government, abortion on demand, believes in staunch gun control and is hardly a racist. And he supports amnesty for illegals.

AprilOrit on April 6, 2009 at 1:38 AM

BWahahahaha!
Too funny!
Ayers has gone mainstream, has he?
And he favors “staunch gun control,” but not bomb control?

One could argue that it is pointless for political parties to be “moderate.” The moderate political parties will die out. In a democratic republic, there are always going to be populist movements and liberal movements (not the lefty liberal). Either the parties can give thousands of empty promises or promise not to meddle too much in the lives of the individual. Thus we have our two “extremes:” progressives and neo-liberals/conservatives. The first believes that man through government can make the world a better place. The second acknowledges that man is flawed and no single group of people should make decisions for the rest of the citizens. Moderation is just the slow creep towards the first…

Many of the rights guaranteed by the Constitution are far from “moderate.”

Does Eric W.Bradley’s views turn on the fringes of American politics too?

Further, what do you, the moderate, propose for a political platform? You know what “we” (the right-wingers) propose, but what would be the key issues that you would campaign on? Moderation?

PLEASE get an education in history! Hitler..NATIONAL SOCIALIST; Stalin..COMMUNIST…… BOTH LEFTISTS.
Civil Rights Act FILIBUSTERED BY DEMOCRATS for 7 years including ROBERT KKK BYRD D WV. The KKK was started by a SOUTHERN DEMOCRAT Nathan Bedford Forrest and it was U.S. Grant who stopped DEMOCRATS from murdering balcks in the south.
Martin Luther King was a REPUBLICAN and even Malcolm X Stated that; “If blacks vote for Democrats, they are a traitor to their own race.”

AprilOrit on April 6, 2009 at 2:43 AM

Don’t confuse moderation with taking a position on values for individualism, reality, and pursuit of happiness.

Taking a middle of the road position only leads to accidents.

Kini on April 6, 2009 at 2:56 AM

White Supremists were never Leftists, go to Stormfront they oppose socialism whole-heartedly and have all jumped on the call Obama a socialist bandwagon. I’m a jew, believe me, they are not Left leaning in the least.

AprilOrit on April 6, 2009 at 2:39 AM

Really, so NAZI’s, (national socialists), weren’t leftists by modern political classifications? And neo-Nazi’s are different how?

Maybe some of the modern white supremacists appose socialism, but that doesn’t make them right-wing either. Mere opposition to socialism doesn’t make somebody right-wing, when at the same time they support racial intolerance and discrimination, or whatever these new white supremacists you speak of are seeking. Segregation, genocide, I have no idea about the specifics, but how is any of it “right-wing” regardless of their views on socialism?

The fact that you are trying to paint them as right-wing reveals far more about yourself, IMO, than it does about them.

“Moderation” got the U.S. Batcrotch O’bunghole who has violated the Constitution at LEAST 23 times in his first 60 days. Have any of these so called “Moderates” done anything to stop the destruction of the Constitution?

Your type has narrowed the Party, those three are what’s left outside of the Deep South.

What have you done to help The Party?

you might look at the History of your so-called “Moderates” John McShamnesty, Arnold Schwartzenkennedy, Mitt Romney..etc…all they can do is LOSE.

The reason they lose is because most of the country is horrified by what this Party has become, too Far Right and unbendable.

What’s the difference between Lovell Mixon and Poplawski?

nelsonknows on April 6, 2009 at 2:16 AM

Poplawski was more the Far Right type who barricaded himself in his house like a Ruby Ridge/militia type stand off – illegally purchase bullet proof vest, demented and completely off base about his right to bear arms the other one was a typical career criminal case – he shot them because they pulled him over and he knew he was most likely going back to jail.

AprilOrit on April 6, 2009 at 2:59 AM

Don’t think so. He has been a strong supporter of gun control for at least the last 20 years into his alleged rehibilatation, maybe longer.

No, let me restate my question. What would be a winnable platform for a moderate republican?

My mother knew Abigail Folger when she lived in the Village in the early 60s. She had an apartment on W 11th Street.

Jim Treacher on April 6, 2009 at 3:09 AM

We should send a memo to Spector that apparently moderate Republicans think that nail-guns should be illegal too. I mean if the guns kill people, then the nail guns must too, right? This has nothing to do with the actual individual. This all could have been prevented if we didn’t have pesky 2nd Amendments etc.

Upstater85 on April 6, 2009 at 3:12 AM

George W. Bush, a Conservative? Are you freakin’ kidding me April? Bush was less conservative than Dole, who was less conservative than G.H.W. Bush who was WAY less conservative than Reagan and get this, each garnered fewer votes!
April, go back to the left-wing blog sites where you came from.
