Quote of the day

posted at 9:30 pm on April 5, 2009 by Allahpundit

“Mr. Poplawski’s view of guns and personal freedom took a turn toward the fringes of American politics. With Mr. Perkovic, he appeared to share a belief that the government was controlled from unseen forces, that troops were being shipped home from the Mideast to police the citizenry here, and that Jews secretly ran the country

Believing most media were covering up important events, Mr. Poplawski turned to a far-right conspiracy Web site run by Alex Jones, a self-described documentarian with roots going back to the extremist militia movement of the early 1990s.

Around the same time, he joined Florida-based Stormfront, which has long been a clearinghouse Web site for far-right groups. He posted photographs of his tattoo, an eagle spread across his chest.”

Nazi is a short form for: National SOCIALIST German Workers Party.

The only differences between Stalin and Hitler was that:
- Stalin lasted longer, thus killing more and making nationalization of all employment dejure while Hitler only made it to defacto.
- They disputed which of them got to be King.

Socialism is just a repackaged form of absolute monarchism. The old Lord-Serf or Master-Slave compact.

The US Constitution was written by rebels from the absolute rule of a monarch/dictator. It was written by people that believed the only thing worse than strong central government was anarchy.

That makes socialists the radical anti-US constitution party. Otherwise known as the US left.

Conservatives are the constitutionalists in the US. The right.

And WWII was a civil war among Socialists to decide which socialist faction would be on top.

The propaganda that Nazi = Right-wing comes from the European definition of Right and Left from the 19th centry. Monarchists were the conservitives in Europe. The left was those trying to replace those forms of dictitorial power. Anarchists primarily.

The reverse of the US definitions…

ThePrez on April 5, 2009 at 9:58 PM

Why are we even arguing about this? Is this guy right-wing because there are some aspects of his philosophy that intersect with conservatism? That is as asinine as saying that the mass killers from Columbine, Virginia Tech, and the various church shootings over the past few years were left-wingers because of their espoused hatred of and superiority to Christianity.

But go ahead and play that game if you like, MSM. The death toll is much higher on your side of the field…

From the story posted over at CNN……

Margaret Poplawski told police her son had enlisted in the Marine Corps a few years ago, but was discharged for assaulting his drill sergeant in basic training, according to the complaint. Since his discharge, she told police, he had been “stockpiling guns and ammunition, buying and selling the weapons online, because he believed that as a result of the economic collapse, the police were no longer able to protect society. Mrs. Poplawski reported that her son only liked police when they were not curtailing his constitutional rights, which he was determined to protect,” the complaint said.

The link won’t post.

I would have to agree, if this whackjob had to be classified for some stupid reason it would probably put him more right than left.

Then again, the cop killers of the Weather Underground were definitely more left than right, so we’re even.

The ugly part is that these non-involved scumbags have become classifiable at all in a political sense. Right or left, 99.999999% percent of us aren’t going to do something like this or even consider it, so screaming “THAT’S RIGHT, HE’S ON YOUR SIDE!” is just sad.

Maybe two separate front page stories a day. Just enough constant affirmation that guns are evil and must be collected for “the common good”.

ErinF on April 5, 2009 at 10:23 PM

(sigh) I’m gonna regret admitting to this…

I lived in Austin for five years and knew Alex Jones before his meteoric rise within the conspiracy theory economy. Alex is the motor mouthed upper-class suburban scion to a comfortable family fortune with a warped view of the USA and our Constitution.

Alex Jones is absolutely not a Republican, he’s not a Libertarian, and he’s not a political conservative. Although I did not know the murderous psycho Poplawski personally, but I am 100% sure that wacko would not identify his political views using with any of those terms.

Ugh, I’m so sick of stuff like this being called “right-wing”. It’s just like calling the Nationalist Socialist Hitler a “right-winger”. It’s bullsh**. He was actually an extreme leftist.

I hate to break it to people, but Alex Jones and conspiracy nuts like the turd who shot the cops aren’t “conservatives” or “right-wing”. I wouldn’t go as far to call them lefties, but they are not right-wingers in the least. They’re unstable conspiracy nuts. You’ll notice that generally, if a conspiracy theorist believes on conspiracy theory, they believe them ALL. It’s almost like a disorder, and in fact there are psychological reasons for it.

RightWinged on April 5, 2009 at 10:31 PM

For those who insist the Nazi=right wing, I’d like to remind them that NZI is short for Nationalist Socialist. They were socialists who believed that everyone was subservient to the state, and that everything one did should be always for the betterment of the nation rather than for yourself.

Think about that, and consider which party (currently in power) in the United States best personifies the idea that the government knows best what is good for you. Which party believes in state control of education, of the banks, the factories, and health care?

Nazi = Right Wing? I don’t think so, boyos.

Anyone that has served in the military must have an Honorable discharge to obtain a gun permit. So in the context of gun laws, this tragic story illustrates once again that gun laws will never stop criminal activity, but more tragically disarm the innocent.

It must be Booshes fault! Or wait, maybe Palin’s, or Rush’s. The drive-by’s will try to use this for pushing against the 2nd Amendment and try to turn the country away from conservatives. Other posts on this site show how the country has turned from God and from the moral law He gives, yet the libs blame conservatives whenever violence happens.

Proverbs 14:34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.

You can’t at one time, bemoan the Christian and try to strip God from every vestige of our heritage and public life and expect that the country is going to be better off for it. The Bible is correct when it declares, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD.”

Christian Conservative on April 5, 2009 at 10:54 PM

A short description of the political spectrum:
Left: Totalitarian forms of government (i.e. communism, fascism, oligarchies, etc.)
Right: Anarchy
It goes back to the freedom vs. order idea. The left (according to the spectrum) wants more order, which means no freedom. The right (according to the spectrum) wants more freedom, which means no order.
The U.S. Constitution is between these two vices. That is what makes the American republic (not democracy) so unique and honorable. Here’s a good video on this.

The propaganda that Nazi = Right-wing comes from the European definition of Right and Left from the 19th centry. Monarchists were the conservitives in Europe. The left was those trying to replace those forms of dictitorial power. Anarchists primarily.

The reverse of the US definitions…

alex jones is right wing. he is a bircher. glenn beck is a bircher. as is lou dobbs. those two don’t speak of an apocalyptic end-game in which the bilderbergs seek to eliminate 80% of the world population, but they’re on the same ideological branch.

stormfront is a mix. as we know, stormfronters supported ron paul. many consider themselves conservatives. the soft assertion of neo-nazism, white nationalism (which is a moniker stormfronters have adopted for themselves) are distinctly conservative, including many of the regular columnists and editors of outlets like vdare.

by no means can the same arguments about european fascism be applied to the contemporary american neo-nazi and white nationalist movements, which place “free enterprise” as their economic doctrine and have a conservative pedegree, drawing it’s leading lights directly from the conservative movement.

these are facts.

the answer to kos’ facile smear of course is to mention andrew mickel.

by the way, this is the kind of ugly crowd you associate yourself with when you decide that illegal immigration is an actual present threat worth addressing.

Ace points out the lack of outcry from the left when the Oakland cops were killed as well as Kos’s twitter here

I don’t consider stormfront, vdare, and the Rockford institute part of the core conservative movement, but nobody can deny that there’s some shit from those sites trying to ride in on our shoes. People need to be aware of the white supremacists because those associations carry a stench that doesn’t come out.
