Video: TOTUS betrays POTUS; Update: Guardian goofs on the “great orator”
posted at 7:44 pm on April 3, 2009 by Allahpundit
Surely one of the top five dumbest palate cleansers we’ve ever posted, but it’s simply too meme-tastic to leave it buried in Headlines. If he can’t count on TOTUS and he can’t count on his canvassers, surely he can still count on the average American voter, right? Hmmm:
Obama’s lowest approval number comes in response to his federal budget, which includes a substantial deficit. Only 42 percent agree with Obama’s budget while 45 percent disapprove…
In the minds of those surveyed, there’s little distinction between the bank bailouts of the past six months and the aid packages for the auto industry that were granted earlier this year. Only 34 percent of people think the administration is taking the right approach to help an ailing auto industry. A higher number (43 percent) objects to bailouts as an appropriate use of government money.
Newsweek’s naturally downplaying the degree of opposition. Check the crosstabs and you’ll see that there are actually three options on the bailout questions: taking the right approach, inappropriate use of government funds, and “is not doing what is needed to solve the problem.” Support for that last option is in the mid-teens; add it to those who are opposed to bailouts generally and you’re well over 50 percent who think The One’s on the wrong track. Click the image to watch.
Update: Where is the TOTUS here, anyway? I don’t see it at the podium. Is it one of those large-screen deals in the back like he had at the White House presser last week?
Update: A comedy double dip courtesy of, believe it or not, the Guardian. Inside Barry’s mind as the TOTUS goes dark…
pause [I'M IN WAY TOO DEEP HERE] … a regulatory system that was inadequate to the massive changes that have taken place in the global financial system … pause, close eyes [THIS IS GOING TO GO DOWN LIKE A CROCK OF SHIT BACK HOME. HELP]. I think what is also true is that … pause

Comedy Gold. Will there be an Obama Greatest Hits compilation video? If they add them all up by 2010, it would be a full length feature. And Biden……Whoa.

So pathetic.

Yes. Michael Moore, in the back, with a tight tight plain white t-shirt, upon which TOTUS was projected. This explains why Obama got messed up, the text fell under one of Moore’s, ahem, breasts.

The teleprompter is, or used to be, a military member of the White House Communications Agency. SNAFU’s on the teleprompter can get you fired and there have been a few problems – I remember one of Clinton’s speeches was improperly loaded for a State of the Union address.
But Ogabe has taken TOTUS to such an extreme level – the job of a teleprompter operator must truly require a man with a “sphincter of steel” … to borrow a term from some pundit.

Well pResident G.W. Bush said “freedom is the yearning of the human heart.”
What the hell? The heart doesn’t urine! What a dumb dummy he is! His statement makes no sense.
When I was in college, my Queer Studies Professor said that freedom was a reflection of the homoerotic desires of the oppressed to seize the means of production.
And even though I don’t know what that means, still: Damn you capitalists!

apco on April 3, 2009 at 8:25 PM
His reliance on TOTUS to me is a sign of pure laziness; he will not spend time to recite a speech long enough to use the teleprompter as substitute for three or four index cards. It was named Teleprompter because it merely prompts a speaker. To see this creature give a speech and move his head as if he were watching a tennis match is hilarious, sad, and scary all at the same time.

Quite frankly I’m disappointing.
I feel like I’m living in a third reality. Sometimes I don’t know how you guys and them folks at the HuffPo are processing what you see and hear. This wasn’t a big deal, using a teleprompter is smart tool to use when your doing a speech, Obama isn’t the most eloquent person ever but I can understand completely what he says and yes the “uhms” and “ahhs” are so annoying!
Magnus on April 3, 2009 at 8:28 PM
Really? Not only is it off topic — we’re talking about the POTUS fumbling a question, not deregulation — seriously, that’s all you’ve got? You’ve said that how many times now? Basically, at this point you’re just spamming — AP, I mean, really if this isn’t spam, what is?

Oh JESUS.
After watching the number of times he went “uhmmmmmm” during the press conference with Brown yesterday, pausing again and again to gather his thoughts IN THE MIDDLE OF A SENTENCE around 2,000 times or so, this is even worse.
Even IF you ARE reading an inspiring speech to people as a key world leader, you don’t want to SEEM like you are merely READING A SPEECH TO THEM.
They want LEADERSHIP, connection, a feeling you are speaking from your heart.
Obama ruined the atmosphere there losing his place.
Did he even write what he’s reading? If it was written by someone else, hadn’t he communicated to them what he wanted to talk about? Shouldn’t he be familiar with the train of thought?

Hardly…but the Guardian is very left…that they would go after Bush was always expected…no comment necessary. I don’t think we’re the only ones thinking this way either. I’ve noticed a lot of old familiar faces disappearing everyday. If I want to read crap I can go to KOS or Politico.
Knucklehead on April 3, 2009 at 8:46 PM
Okay let’s be real here folks.
Just like the liberals/ far left did with Bush and recently Palin,
there will be NOTHING you will ever give Obama a positive on. Period. Even if he does something right it will be wrong somehow. He will never be able to speak, produce, or act in the manner you will ever approve.
So then you have to ask yourself, what is the point? It seems like a waste of time to have these type of post. There is so much more going on. A palate cleanser should be that, something has nothing to do with what is already the main topic of discussion here, hating on Obama.
Let’s talk about how devastating it is that Battle Star Galactica is over and I have nothing to look forward to watching on TV tonight? All the poor people around the globe that are now deprived of their Friday night Sci-Fi channel excellence and now only have to look forward to Stargate reruns and movies about badly CGed giant ants or environmental disasters that seem to only destroy New York or San Fransisco? What about that?! Where is the outrage and embarrassment there?!

Which is why I hate to say it, comment moderation has its place. (Or you can go the route Glenn Reynolds does, have no comments; that works well too.) I wouldn’t go so far as to say that people are leaving b/c of the getalifes and DTMHs. I’m just saying, if you look into the thread and see “getalife”, you basically know that thread will get threadjacked. Similarly, when I visit Politico, it’s a waste of time to read the comments, which means I’m spending less time there = less revenue.
