It allows men to marry up to four wives, and have sex with slave girls also: “If ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly with the orphans, marry women of your choice, two or three or four; but if ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one, or (a captive) that your right hands possess, that will be more suitable, to prevent you from doing injustice” (4:3). It rules that a son’s inheritance should be twice the size of that of a daughter: “Allah (thus) directs you as regards your children’s (inheritance): to the male, a portion equal to that of two females” (4:11). Worst of all, the Qur’an tells husbands to beat their disobedient wives: “Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other.” So good women are the obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah hath guarded. As for those from whom ye fear rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and scourge them” (4:34).

As a special treat for pedophiles, Islam allows for marriage to pre-pubescent girls, stipulating that Islamic divorce procedures “shall apply to those who have not yet menstruated” (65:4).

I don’t know if this link is linked, but I just read this story in the Wall Street Journal. The story is a bit different. It says the girl was beaten because she was seen leaving a house with her father-in-law.

Your point being that gaining tough skin is hard, but not unendurable. Suffering pain is an experience MOST of the world survives. Life ain’t fair.

Morons need not pile on someone who has suffered abusive parental techniques.

This Muslim young lady was clothed, not made naked. She got more lashings than her age. In the West, she would not have been lashed in public. In Islam, she would be and was.

Our outrage is that victims are punished for having been victimized. That is true in America, not sexually but ideologically. The Constitution required that our national government not endorse any particular state religion. Look at what Socialists have done to abolish any reference whatsoever of Christianity outside of a church or private home. Our Constitutional Rights are being publicly flogged by Obama and gang in every instance at ever opportunity.

Of course Obama is going to turn a blind eye to Islamic terror, be it violence against a female or another attack on the West. Obama enjoys the show so long as he is insulated.

But Cagaptay always has brilliant analyses prepared for such interviews. He is correct that Obama can not turn a blind eye, wasting this important trip to Turkey, a unique country part of the West yet part of the Muslim world. Obama has to challenge Turkey’s self identity, assuring the Turks of our appreciation of their common interests as part of the West (NATO). But along with the embracing hug of reassurance, Obama must squeeze the Turks to mind their growing public sentiment against America and against Jews, because in any democracy, public sentiment matters and unfolds into political manifestations.

Of course, Cagaptay surmises what Obama NEEDS to do. We’d ALL love for the POTUS to effectively strengthen our alliances, particularly in Turkey and surrounding regions.

Schade, Obama has no intention of doing what NEEDS to be done. Schade, Obama has no ability to do what MUST be done to respect his office. Schade, Obama is a screwed up lose cannon.

This is why proper diplomacy advances effect diplomats to pave the way PRIOR to a POTUS visit that has inevitable repercussions. THAT was a point argued during the general potus campaign “debates.”

If she were American then the standard would be to put a girl of this age on restriction…not being held down and whipped in public.

Also, the punishment would be the parents’ choice and not the State’s or the religious establishment’s.

All in all, it was of course a trivial thing to be beaten over. But these are the things the Leftists will support, but in no way tolerate in their own backyard. They are even against punitive spankings. Figure that one out.

It makes me regret apposing the Soviet’s practicing genocide in Afghanistan.

No USSR in Afghanistan = no Mujahideen = no Taliban (or Osama Bin Laden, for that matter; he probably would have become an architect or something).

Yes, that’s my point, basically. Genetics, in some parts of the world, have not evolved as others have.

As for Indonesia, I’m in Oz, and aware of the attempts to radicalize the country, just as they are in the Philippines. Fortunately, the governments of both countries realize the damage it would do to their emerging economies, and want no part of it – for now.

Examples of the Taliban killing women in cold blood for alleged infidelity (never did they have to prove it) far predate the G.W. Bush Presidency. They gained power in 1996 during the Clinton Presidency and had already harbored Al Qaeda at that time. That is why Clinton launched cruise missiles into Afghanistan after Al Qaeda blew up American embassies in Africa in 1998.
