Video: Obama bows to Saudi king?

Question mark in the headline because I can’t tell for sure without knowing what words passed between them, but it certainly looks like a bow. Skip ahead to 0:50 and judge for yourself. Like the boss says, whether this is more or less nauseating than Bush holding hands with his pal Abdullah while they went for a garden scroll is immaterial. The fact remains that having to co-exist with the Saudis doesn’t mean having to respect them. When they stop whipping old ladies for having unrelated men in their homes, maybe then we can reconsider observing the niceties of protocol.
If this is a bow, it’s more than Elizabeth got when The One met her yesterday. Maybe if she started beheading people for not practicing the state religion, she’d have received a little more deference. Exit quotation from a 1994 edition of the NYT, contemplating the prospect of Clinton bowing to Japan’s emperor: “Canadians still bow to England’s Queen; so do Australians. Americans shake hands. If not to stand eye-to-eye with royalty, what else were 1776 and all that about?”

More than just a king, the Saudi monarch is the caretaker of the holiest sites in Islam. So, that puts him far higher in terms of respect and genuflections for Muslims.
I’m just saying…
Not that Obama has anything to do with Islam…

Wow, there are trolls here I’ve never seen before.
Axelrod & Co. must have called for all hands on deck. They recognize this as a fire they need to put out.
I guess they weren’t expecting a foreign news service to capture the moment and then have it on YouTube. The caption appears to be Spanish.

The Acting Chief of Protocol is Gladys Boluda. During the Bush administration she was Assistant Chief of Protocol with oversight of the Diplomatic Affairs division of the Office of CoP. The term of President Bush’s Chief of Protocol ended on January 20th.
I would imagine they are ignoring anything she says that they don’t like. They may even be keeping her on as a convenient scapegoat if they blunder because then they can always blame Bush.

Seriously, the media should take partial responsibility for his narcissism gone wild. Who wouldn’t put themselves on a pedestal after two years of being treated like a savior. They’ve gotten tingles up their legs and painted digital halos around his image and gushed over him at every campaign stop. Before they got hold of him he was probably somewhat humble. Well, perhaps not, but I’m sure he was nowhere near as cocky as he is now. Now they’re finding he’s not at all the supreme being they imagined, he’s a mere mortal just like the rest of us. We tried to tell you it weren’t so, msm, (in oh so many ways). You just wouldn’t listen.

Wednesday, September 20, Nijmegan, Holland:
“”Boats ordered by the 82nd Airborne the day before failed to arrive until afternoon, and a hasty daylight assault crossing was ordered. At about 15:00 the 3rd Battalion, 504th PIR, made the crossing in 26 canvas assault boats into well-defended positions. The American unit had no training on the British-made boats. A shortage of paddles required some troopers to paddle the craft with rifle butts. About half the boats survived the crossing under heavy fire; survivors then assaulted across 200 meters (200 yards) of open ground on the far bank and seized the north end of the bridge. German forces withdrew from both ends of the bridge, which was then rushed by Guards tanks and the 2nd Battalion, 505th PIR, securing the bridge after four days of struggle. The costly attack was nicknamed “Little Omaha” in reference to Omaha Beach.“”
Feelin’ pretty stupid right about now, aren’t you?

Well, that can fall either way–for the Japanese, bowing is like shaking hands, and the distinction is in the depth of the bow. I’m not an expert on the culture, or anything, but I think it would be appropriate for the Prime Minister of Japan and the President of the US to bow equally to each other.

Ogabe bowing to Saudi king
View it and weep!

Jenfidel on April 2, 2009 at 4:27 PM
That *is* a problem, yes, but it’s much more than that. Bowing or curtseying–neither of which Queen Elizabeth got–is also a signal of submission. Several blogs have provided Miss Manners links on this, but any person with some basic understanding of human nature and behavior understands this to indicate some sort of groveling. Obama didn’t just show respect, dude, he indicated his inferior status to the Saudi king.
And it was absolutely sickening to see B.O. *bowing* to the leader of a country that beats old women, imprisons and tortures rape victims, holds American children hostage and marries the girl ones off into what is legalised rape, discriminates against any religion not Islam, shoves girls back into burning buildings for not having their heads covered–the list goes on and on as KSA continues to treat women as perpetual minors/subhumans, and abuse other religions in ways big and small that would get lawsuits slapped on people if the instances were reversed (there and across the world).
I have been growing angrier and angrier at this horse’s ass, but seeing the bow–what signifies much more than respect–simply made me want to explode and throw up at the same time.
When this is over some people are going to need some serious deprogramming.
fireweednectar on April 2, 2009 at 4:27 PM
I didn’t read the post but I think it’s pretty clear after that international press conference that Obama pretty much worships himself. Whatever other religions he gives lip service too. Well I saw him bow to the head of Islam… And barely nod to the head of the English Church. I would think equal treament would be in order at least. Since the Queen was also in the room.
Clearly the man in ingratiating to everyone. Until he has complete power over the world.

Humanlife-at-conception bills make any forms of birthcontrol that cause failure to implant into murder. This bill also criminalizes fertility therapy.
