Question mark in the headline because I can’t tell for sure without knowing what words passed between them, but it certainly looks like a bow. Skip ahead to 0:50 and judge for yourself. Like the boss says, whether this is more or less nauseating than Bush holding hands with his pal Abdullah while they went for a garden scroll is immaterial. The fact remains that having to co-exist with the Saudis doesn’t mean having to respect them. When they stop whipping old ladies for having unrelated men in their homes, maybe then we can reconsider observing the niceties of protocol.
If this is a bow, it’s more than Elizabeth got when The One met her yesterday. Maybe if she started beheading people for not practicing the state religion, she’d have received a little more deference. Exit quotation from a 1994 edition of the NYT, contemplating the prospect of Clinton bowing to Japan’s emperor: “Canadians still bow to England’s Queen; so do Australians. Americans shake hands. If not to stand eye-to-eye with royalty, what else were 1776 and all that about?”

As long as the enviro groups that control the Democratic party in congress are writing policy, we will not take advantage of all our natural resources in America. So, yes, we will have a President that will bow down to his masters (the Oil Ticks) and hopes that gas will be $4.00 a gallon soon so we can be forced to pay for “Green Energy” that doesn’t work.
I really would like to see the Saudi’s drink their damn oil. I just don’t think we will be in that position without drilling at home.

Bowing to a king is not a sign of respect as much as it is a sign of subjectivity. An American president should not bow before any king.

It’s not the same as holding hands in the Middle East. You’ll see many men walking arm in arm and sometimes hand in hand talking. They don’t have the same idea of “personal space” that we do. It’s sometimes uncomfortable to talk or sit with them because it feels like they are always in your face.

I don’t recall how many Arab paratroop units were air-dropped over Holland but it couldn’t have been many.

operation market garden involved the 1st british paratroopers, not a single american soldier. in fact, americans gave only a “limited priority” to the operation, which made montgomery pretty bitter.
