I think I have this straight..

Rush is leaving NYC. Selling his condo, leaving his studio and relocating elsewhere.

In the mean time, his maid, driver, anyone who worked at his studio, restaurants, and anyone else who depended on Rush for a job or as a customer is out that much money.

And Steward says “Finally?”

what an effing douche.

DaveC on April 3, 2009 at 10:49 AM

his maid, driver

you just made me feel really sorry for him. to much taxes, and he won’t be able to afford his maid and driver. how could he keep up the fight then as man of the people against the elitist obama without his his army of servants?

sesquipedalian on April 3, 2009 at 10:57 AM

piss off…

if the dude can afford it, more power to him.

my wife would LOVE to have a someone come by and help clean the house once a week.

and you miss the point entirely.

DaveC on April 3, 2009 at 11:00 AM

The sound engineer at the studio he broadcasts from in NYC.
He’ll be out that much money.

The man has a very nice lifestyle and he earned every cent of it. And it his lifestyle is passed down too. the people he employs. The stores he shops at.

Enough people will follow his lead. And the impact will be trickled down because NYC wanted ‘more’.

DaveC on April 3, 2009 at 11:05 AM

I’m sure Stewart will also say “finally” when those “rich” people in NY suddenly decided to leave as well.

GarandFan on April 3, 2009 at 11:24 AM

New York seems to be intent on creating another rotting dystopia (i.e. Detroit) on the east coast. How long before we see pigeon vendors on the streets?

The first hyperinflation winter over there is going to be disastrous. Several million people in an urban graveyard, very few of whom are able to afford heating oil.

TheMightyMonarch on April 3, 2009 at 11:37 AM

i find it rich that the same people who accused obama of elitism are now worried about whether rush will be able to keep his servants.

no question.

no it doesn’t.

i hope some will do, so that real estate prices go down a bit in manhattan, and people will spend their dollars on consumer items instead of rent and mortgage. from this perspective, rush leaving nyc is a big win for all of us involved.

Next time you get mugged, remember: It’s your fault for having more money than the poor guy that had to stoop to robbery to feed his family. In fact, you deserve to get robbed; you should have sought him out to help him in his struggles.

Greedy bastard. Children are starving because of you.

So, I guess Michelle Obama cleans her own toilets. Yeah, right. I have no doubt that it has been a long, long time since she has done a day’s housework. Oh, and I suppose that Jack Murtha, Chris Dodd, and Bawney Fwank all do their own housework and yardwork. Oh, and George Soros probably has to scrub toilets and doesn’t own any limousines, either. Let’s see… picture Al Gore, John Edwards, and Bill Clinton pushing a lawnmower. We already know that Hillary bakes cookies, bless her heart. So, get off the class envy bus and give us a break.

Rush earned his wealth by providing a product the masses found valuable.

Obamugabe is stealing his from the taxpayer.

There is a big difference between earned and entitled.

Good one.

The class envy bus is the only vehicle available to people with limited _______________ (fill in the blank – talent, resources, intellect, ability, ad infinitum). At least, thats what they are told and by God they are going to believe it come hell or high water so dont try to convince them otherwise.

How convenient – limited accomplishments arent their fault! This mind-set perfectly describes emotionally retarded leftist zombies.

For that matter, something tells me Jon Stewart doesn’t clean his own toilets or grout his own tub.

Of course, not even a contemptuous, power-to-the-people class warrior like Sesquipedalian expects someone like Barack Obama to do without servants. The very idea of the President or other high officials of the Party performing their own menial chores is absurd. What would other world leaders think if they showed up for a White House audience and were told Obama needed a few more minutes to finish folding his laundry? The leaders of the Party have far more important things to do with their time – not even the most bitter and envious disciple of Karl Marx would suggest they should be saddled with menial labor.

So, the question is not whether anyone should have servants. The question is who should have them. Having settled that, perhaps we could ask our lefty friends to stop wasting time on pointless and silly grandstanding, and provide some details of how they think servants should be appointed in the coming socialist utopia. Should only the top officials of the Party have servants? Is there any private citizen whose time is sufficiently valuable to make hiring them reasonable, if he is willing to pay the going rate? Or should all menial laborers work directly for the State, receiving state-provided income and benefits, to be assigned to those the Party feels deserve domestic assistance? That doesn’t seem to have worked out very well in the other countries that tried it… but then again, the same could be said of every aspect of Obama’s policies.

Right, we should take away so much that he can’t hire these people; because we decide he doesn’t deserve it.

However, I asked the guy who begs for quarters at the offramp on my way to work; he doesn’t think you deserve a computer. He thinks you’re a rich jerk.

So to be fair, you need to sell your computer and donate the proceeds to charity.

Since your class warfare is acceptable and noble in your mind; I’m sure you’ll immediately concede to the wishes of those below you and sell your computer and not buy another one. Class warfare is always right, and envy is an acceptable means to determine what people who have more than you should deserve to keep, right?

We’ll miss your posting around here; but I guess we’ll have to struggle along without you. Because the people have decided you no longer should have a computer.

You wouldn’t be so crass and hypocritical as to believe that your class warfare and envy is acceptable, but the homeless guy begging for change is wrong would you?

Of course not… I’d say we’ll see you later; but once you sell your computer that probably won’t be the case.

What the heck is wrong with Stewart (and Letterman for that matter)?

1) How did they come to the conclusion that being an angry partisan hack is good for their career?
2) Why are they on this kick….what is their agenda or who is orchestrating this path?

Bill O’Reily missed a great opportunity on Letterman when Dave said something to the effect that he was glad that the Rush controversy was making republicans look bad. Bill should have asked: “So you don’t like Republicans Dave?”

I think anytime a conservative can get Stewart or Letterman to admit their disdain for conservatism (or at least hem and haw when asked)in response to one of their blatant attacks, they will lose a portion of their viewership….which is what they deserve for alienating and disrespecting that part of their audience

…and their attacks have really become viscious lately. I guess they feel emboldened by Obama’s election.

A comedian or actor is a guy who got incredibly rich by telling jokes or pretending to be someone else. Most of them come from fairly modest origins, and now they’re sitting on millions of dollars. They’re surrounded by people who treat any deviation from strict socialist class-warfare ideology as unforgivable heresy, or at lease unforgiveable rudeness. In a way, they view their own riches as a kind of democracy in action… they got rich because lots of people liked their act, and “voted” by forking over dough. They’re rich because they are popular. They see it as the only “egalitarian” or “fair” way to be filthy rich.

It’s a world view that leaves them endlessly insecure – if they lose their popularity, they’ll lose their riches too, and none of them wants to give up that posh upper-class lifestyle. Nothing bothers Jon Stewart more than the thought he might have to regress to a middle-class lifestyle – he deserves his riches, because the people “voted” to make him rich, and he’s a good and virtuous person. He is very eager to prove how good and virtuous he is, and the easiest way to do that is to fling out cheap socialist rhetoric – see, man, I’m a regular guy like you, because I hate those fat rich S.O.B.s with their mansions and their servants! Just don’t ask Mr. Stewart about his servants. He lives every day in fear that someone will do exactly that. Fear breeds bitterness and resentment.

And now there’s a socialist President that can give these lifelong class-warrior types all the moral cover they need – all they must do is swear fealty to the Party, and attack its enemies, and they’re automatically noble heroes who deserve every dollar in their overstuffed bank accounts. A lifetime of bitterness at the unfairness of The System, combined with a reluctance to engage in the minimal amount of reasoning required to see how immoral and empty socialism is, mixed with a lingering sense of resentment over the way Bill Clinton betrayed them with his “triangulation” and personal failures, equals one unhappy, unfunny comedian.

it’s employees.. and Rush should have no issue finding new employees where ever he relocates to.. Rush will be making the same amount of money. except for the standard of living is bound to be lower than that of NYC. So his money will go further than it use to and he should be able to hire even more people if he needs to.

Overall, the big picture, he will be helping to reduce national unemployment..

It’s the people he left behind in NYC will be hit..

DaveC on April 3, 2009 at 2:36 PM

I wonder how many servants Stewart has to do his dirty work on the job and at home. Just more of the kettle calling the pot black.

It’s kind of funny how that corpulent drug addict broadcasts to a legion of un/under-employed losers every day from NYC.

Jon Stuart is a gutless dweeb who is so weak that all he offers is criticism and mocking. This sh*t with eyes can now make up the difference in lost tax revenues which people like Rush contributed to support the NY Entitlement state. How long before it looks like Michigan and all Rudy’s work to revitalize the city is undone while this moron revels in it turning into a cesspool.

nelsonknows on April 3, 2009 at 3:28 PM

The Quote of the day was a repeat of what the Governor OF NY said?

Neither the NY Gov. nor Stewart are remotely funny with this charade. The taxes don’t just affect Rush you freaking a$$hats. But what gets me the most is, like the AIG bonuses, how it’s now OKAY AND SUPPOSEDLY FUNNY, for a Governor and the media to call out ONE HUMAN BEING for increased taxes in order to punish him or make him do something that he wouldn’t have done on his own accord. On top of that, having the ONLY reason for doing such a thing be simply because of his POLITICAL OR ECONOMIC BELIEFS and that this kind of direct hit from government and media types is no longer such a scary thing to Americans.

We’re not just ALL SOCIALISTS now; we’re further along than even I thought we were. Wait until that guy Neil Cavuto was yelling at has his Bill passed and you’re now having to provide the government with a job title, and description of duties in order to get your pay check. That’s not Socialism baby. That’s something a little redder and it ain’t MEAT!

Sultry Beauty on April 3, 2009 at 4:21 PM

Jon Stewart doesn’t even have half Rush’s brains and talent in his dreams.

Rush, come to Nashville! We have studios, no state tax, and Tennessee is beautiful.

pannw on April 3, 2009 at 4:29 PM

In typical Stewart / Colbert fashion, fun is made of the exaggerated or imagined.

Rush left NYC many years ago and lives in Florida. He works a few days a year in NYC, and pays taxes on the approximate $500K he earns on those days (similar to how professional athletes are taxed when they are at ‘road’ games).

Florida does not have a personal income tax. Jon Stewart can only dream of the income and audience that Rush has.

Hammertime on April 3, 2009 at 4:37 PM

A good 80-90% of our U.S. Senate have maids, drivers, private jets and the like, however in their case, we’re paying for these luxuries. If Rush does happen to have the ability to pay for the finer things in life, at least I’m not working to pay for it out of my taxes.

pjean on April 3, 2009 at 4:40 PM

there will be others leaving and the rest, Mr Stewart for one, will be picking up the difference. NYC is about to find out what happens when you raise taxes, revenue goes DOWN!

pgrossjr on April 3, 2009 at 5:14 PM

Now that the bonuses are gone from Wall Street, the $500,000 plus earners leave for better tax situations, commuters/taxi riders stop using taxis and the MTA,and the smokers who haven’t left NYC quit smoking, what will Mayor Bloomburg do when his tax revenues go down even more? Once the above actions are taken by workers/consumers, they will not be returning to NYC in the future. The Democrats are in the process of destroying NYC’s source of revenue. Will the last one out please turn off the lights?

jerseyman on April 3, 2009 at 5:57 PM

I grew up wearing hand me downs. We didn’t have a lot, but we came out fine. Where did this vision, and attitude come from, where some are so envious of the wealthy, that they feel it’s their right, and entitlement to have that money handed to them, for doing absolutely nothing ,but bitch, as a way to earn it?

It is my understanding, that Rush lives, and works in Florida…and visits New York several times a year, and said he would not be going back, in protest of these higher taxes.

As for Mr. Stewart. He’s entitled to feel how he feels. I have no issue with that. However….I sure would love to see him squawk, when they lay out a plan on his salary, and deem he makes to much, and should only earn 100,000 a year. I’d bet then, most of hollywood would start thinking in a far different way.

capejasmine on April 3, 2009 at 11:02 PM

Maybe the “servants” can go on the dole. Oh, wait…the tax base is shrinking.

Jeeeez, libs just do not think.

ddrintn on April 4, 2009 at 12:17 AM

You’d think these knuckleheads (Stewart, Letterman, Leno, Colbert, etc.) would take a look at their 401Ks and say, “Duh, hey, maybe we voted the wrong way after all.” I guess logic and common sense is not their forte. I sure wish they would take on Rush Limbaugh’s economic policy and say that every state that voted for Obama should take the stimulus and every state that didn’t vote for Obama would lower taxes, and let’s just see which states ended up in the black and how quick. Just look at the Democratic led states and cities and you see incompetence in action.
