It sounds like someone from the government may need to go to jail, but that nothing has come up to clear Stevens of his wrong doing.

What wrong doing? When a prosecution has to hide evidence from a jury it points to an innocent man getting falsely convicted.

Prosecutors made a number of errors during the trial, officials said, the chief among which was the failure to make available notes of a crucial interview in which a witness made a statement that contradicted evidence he gave later under oath.

The prosecutors who made the error have been removed from the case and placed under investigation.

And ..

The Stevens case, the government’s highest-profile attack on congressional corruption in recent years, was plagued by problems that continued to pile up even after a jury found him guilty. He did, but it was the contractors admission of not yet billing for the work that held the most water. You see, my boss also holds off billing until well after our work is completed, especially when there is no concern of getting paid.

Newsflash for ya’ – girls can lie. Kids who have premarital sex do not run home and tell their folks. It could happen while at they’re at school or home or anywhere (yes, even in private school) and it only takes a few minutes. Are you aware that Obama’s mom was a young single teen who had sex with a married man? The same things you say about Bristol and her baby can be said about Obama’s mom and Obama. Obama turned out all right and even became POTUS, the most powerful man on earth. He is highly respected around the world regardless of the circumstances of his birth. He even commands the respect of the Queen of England.

That type of thing is important for the 100 senators who have a vote on the allocation of billions of dollars. Stevens’ use of earmarks for Bob Penny who then turned around and gave Stevens a ten-fold return on an investment is exactly what the GOP should be focused on and running against. The Dems will give them ample opportunity.

Just guessing here… but he does have staff… he probably has an accountant… and he lives most of the time in Washington DC… so most probably someone else pays his Alaska Bills on a monthly basis.

Why??? Educate yourself on the facts. FBI agent Choy / whistle blower brought to light FBI agent and four DOJ Prosecutors falsified evidence, withheld exculpatory evidence, disobeyed a lawful court order to provide evidence to the defense and there is three more major charges…AG Holder overturned the conviction and dropped the case to try to stop the bleeding.

Seriously, I don’t expect anything to come of this…to me, it is just politicking, but if it works, it will place doubt in people’s minds regarding whether the win by Begich was legit (as should have been done with Gregoire in 2004 or Lautenberg in 2002).

The Illinois legislature impeached Blago before he was even indicted.

Stevens was an awful Senator, but he was convicted in a rigged trial that Eric Holder (to his credit) has abandoned and repudiated.

Plus, the US DOJ violated its own prosecutorial rules against prosecuting a sitting polictian during a campaign.

So, Stevens lost a rigged trial and an election which was tied to his fate in that totalitarian trial.
