[...] Look, I’m well aware of the increasing disparity between the “haves” and the “have nots” in America today. Does some of it have to do with the lack of government regulation over the past, say, fifteen years or so? Perhaps. But I would also argue that the Republicans first, and now the Democrats have allowed, and are allowing, a lot of crap to be swept under the rug in return for increased power and influence. Sure the AIG thing is pathetic in any number of ways, but let’s not throw the baby out with the bathwater simply because some people (emphasis on “some”) jury-rigged the system for their own benefit. Hell, politicians do the same thing. [...]

also, look at the republicans–they’ll start to fuss within themselves & Dodd will walk right back to the senate.

the head of the RNC (ha) or someone needs to get the Repubs together & choose the one NOW that has the best chance to beat Dodd.

True for Connecticut as well as the national elections. We need to have a united front at every election way before the actual election date.

Chip away at this tiny state then use the efforts as a template to go after other vulnerable lib dopes.
Are you listening Mr. Steele?

Enter Lamont.

Sen Lamont.

artist on April 2, 2009 at 9:39 AM

Not gonna happen.

CT GOP voted for Lieberman by a huge margin because our guy had no chance, even in a three dog race.

If Lamont could drive us all to vote for the lesser of two liberals, what do you think his chances would be in a contest against a relative conservative? With strong legislative experience? In a two dog race?

And that's just the CT GOPers. The majority of INDIES voted against that clown. The only people who voted Lamont were the Yellow Dog dems and the leftwing indies.

In Connecticut...we're kind flaky that way. Send hacks like Wiecker and Dodd, but eventually, we get tired of the bozo and then it's time to go. (See Wiecker's loss to Lieberman in '88...yeah, I know, two years later the state workers elected him gov. in a three horse race...he got spiked after one term though.) We send them packing. Only exception to this rule is Districts 1 and 3, which are controlled by Dem machines, but we get more turnover than you think when it comes to sending people to Capitol Hill.

2010...three GOP house reps (Takin' back 2,4 and 5, bank on it) and a GOP senator to go with them.

The state's bleeding and generally, that stirs the state GOP and even gets the indies out of their "vote for the incumbant" default setting. Plus there's other issues at hand in here locally that'll pretty much have reached critical mass by next year.

We'll never be as red as would be ideal, but we can help buttress the house and senate caususses when neccessary...and not with total RINOs either.

Of course, if the seat changes to Republican in 2010, the media will be loaded with articles about the Republican resurgence, right? Sure, it will right there next to the retractions about Republicans wandering in the wilderness for forty years.

It's not so hard to imagine, truthfully. I've hated pulling the level year after year of Arlen S. But the alternative of losing the seat was more frighting than him and his RINO antics. I guess Donks look at their crooks the same way.

The apple did not fall far from the tree.

From the Nazi/Fascist/Anti-Gun tree...

Recently, with the discovery and publication of a letter from the Library of Congress to Senator [Thomas J.] Dodd from July 1968 confirming his request to have a series of Nazi laws translated from documents provided by Senator Dodd, controversy has arisen as to how much of the Gun Control Act of 1968 was taken directly from gun registration laws enacted and enforced by the Nazis in Germany and areas under Nazi control. It is believed that Senator Dodd obtained copies of the Nazi laws while serving as a prosecutor at Nuremberg

How can only 58% have an unfavorable opinion? How could that be possible? He should be at 98% unfavorable, with the other 2% being some of his family members. SOME.

I was thinking the same thing. This has got to be an "advantage" that Democrats have over us.

How can so many people in the state either be ignorant about or beholden to Dodd?

I would love to see term limits, no matter who is in office. Two terms, you're out. That's the only way we can rid the country of these rump legislators. But how, when they're the ones that have to vote on it? Talk about a catch 22.

The apple did not fall far from the tree.

Chris Dodd's CENSURED father, Senator Thomas J. Dodd...

"In 1967 he was censured by the Senate for using campaign funds for personal purposes.[22] [23]Beyond the Senate Ethics Committee's formal disciplinary action, other sources (such as investigative journalist Drew Pearson and Jack Anderson's Congress in Crisis) suggest Dodd's corruption was far broader in scope."

Dodd Man Walking as Fox put it recently.
Agree with some posts that removing Dems from office may be impossible seeing what has happened in MN, NY and in Murtha's district. Soros and ACORN seem to have this tied up. But do we just let it go at that? Join the Tea Party. Get rid of all incumbants and get term limits in the Constitution! If not now, when?

I only hope that the good people of Nevada have the same feelings about their illustrious senator.

sherry on April 2, 2009 at 9:56 AM

The Great One was on local radio this morning with a pledge to come campaign against Dingy Harry. Reid is vulnerable. He almost lost to Ensign who foolishly didn't call for a recount of an election he lost by a mere 600+ votes.

The last time Dingy got in, it was because Nevada was promised that he would be great for NV since he would be majority leader. That won't fly this time, he hasn't done a thing for us.

As for Dodd....we all though Murtha couldn't get reelected. Were we wrong.
