It looks very broad based, and Patrick Fitzgerald appears to have gone after the entire spoils system run by Blagojevich. His co-conspirators in the RICO indictments are:

John Harris, his last chief of staff
Robert Blagojevich, his brother
Alonzo Monk, his former chief of staff
William Cellini, Sr
Christopher Kelly
Kelly, Monk, and Robert Blagojevich all headed Friends of Blagojevich, which Fitzgerald alleges was basically a holding corporation for corrupt funds. Tony Rezko also makes an appearance in this indictment, but he’s not among those indicted.

No mention of Obama. : (

That Obama rose from the primordial ooze of Chicago politics without getting dirty is the greatest leap of faith since the immaculate conception.

In the face of these indictments, for voters to consider Obama a reformer requires not a leap of faith, but a compromise of principle.

Blago won’t talk. He’ll die in prison if he does. His worst case scenario will be that he’ll stay in jail until Obama pardons him at the end of his term if he keeps his mouth shut.

No way. First of all, Blago’s not capable of not talking. Second, Blago actually doesn’t think he did anything wrong. He’s a complete loon. There’s no way he’s going to federal prison without taking down a whole mess of other people.

although you have to wonder whether Fitzgerald may have something else entirely for Hizzoner.

Tell me you thought that before the whole thing with Stevens getting out because his prosecutor held back evidence.

To be honest, the guys as clean as the bottom of the Mississippi river. Let’s hope he’s simply next in line instead of last in line eh? I’ve lived in IL for 15 years and have seen what the Chicago Machine did. I want this done!

The only people with the power to make this go anywhere are the elected representatives of the opposition party. Based on their track record so far, we would probably be better off welding a metal cutout of a bat onto a searchlight, pointing it at the clouds, and keeping our fingers crossed.

Fitzgerald don’t ever leave us! We still have a mafia banker’s son for our Treasurer, and when he squeals the same squeal as Rezko, then maybe Fitzgerald eyes look back to DC and BO. It’ll be so interesting to see if Obama can throw the Chicago mob under the bus. I hear they don’t like that.

Everyone know this leads all the way to the White House. The question is, do we, as a country of laws, have the guts to follow it and hold Obama responsible for his crimes. I say yes, but we’ll have to put up with rioting along the way. Stock up on ammo, boys and girls.

Perhaps the more immediate question is, does anyone in the Republican party have the guts to follow this all the way to where it leads. Public anger does not get prosecutions rolling all the way to the White House lawn… especially not when those demanding justice are hard-working red state types with jobs to hang into in a rough economy, pitted against squads of unemployed brownshirts eager to get their bus tickets to the next “direct action.” It doesn’t need to become a violent conflict for Thug Nation to win – you know darn well where the microphones and cameras will be pointed.

You never know when the Republicans might find their courage, though. There is a monstrous wave of corruption, both political and financial, rolling out of the New Fascism. Fascists can’t help but be hopelessly corrupt – they can’t tolerate intellectual competition, and they need the public in a perpetual state of fear to hold onto power. Plus, the state masters of the economy and their “private corporation” vassals have too much to offer each other under the table… the value of what they can do for each other is so great that illicit commerce is inevitable.

Defeating this corrupt order will require brave men and women who can make the media listen to them. In 2008, it would have required the courage to force the FBI into raids on ACORN offices, see the footsoldiers of voter fraud thrown into prison cells, and demand the suspension of the Obama campaign when its illicit fundraising was brought to light. It would have required the co-author of McCain-Feingold to have the political guts, and fire in the belly, to take his own laws seriously when confronted by someone willfully determined to break them all, and confident he could do it with impunity. In the end, “campaign finance” regulations had about the same authority as United Nations resolutions, when encountering brazen scofflaws. Next time, somebody must have the guts to give Obama and his organized crime syndicate the same kind of speech George W. Bush gave to Saddam Hussein, right before the shock and awe kicked in.

I don’t think that this doofus has the guts to wait out six days in prison for Bambi’s benefit.

He is soooo slimey, soooo corrupt, soooo out for no. 1 only, that he will roll over on anyone and everyone he can to save his skin. That means that Bambi’s in for it, if there is any chance he’s involved….
