Confirmed: Queen’s iPod includes Obama’s speeches
posted at 7:37 pm on April 1, 2009 by Allahpundit
Hey, you never know when Hopenchange fee-vah might strike. She could be sitting there, listening to show tunes, and suddenly think, “You know what I’m in the mood for? Obama’s 2004 convention speech.” Only a quick menu-scroll away.
And to think, you guys thought this gift wasn’t special.
Uploaded onto the iPod:
* Photos from the Queen’s 2007 White House State Visit
* Photos from the Queen’s 2007 Jamestown, Va., Visit
* Photos from the Queen’s 2007 Richmond, Va., Visit
* Video from the Queen’s 1957 Jamestown Visit
* Video from the Queen’s 2007 Jamestown Visit
* Video from the Queen’s 2007 Richmond Visit
* Photos from President Obama’s Inauguration
* Audio of then-state senator Obama’s speech at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, and
* Audio of President Obama 2009 Inauguration Address
Here’s the songlist. Believe it or not, Jake Tapper’s eating crap from the left for blogging this story even though, had Bush pulled something like this, (a) it would be in constant rotation on MSNBC and likely have been the top story on “Countdown,” and (b) the same nutroots morons who are hassling JT would have wet themselves with glee over the hay they could make from it. Exit question: How’d Team Barry forget to pre-load that ass-covering speech on race he gave last year — which, I believe, was the last time he dared to utter a syllable on the subject? Isn’t that supposed to be the greatest work of American literature since “Huckleberry Finn” or something? Way to cheap out on the Queen!

This story gets worse every time I look.
This had better be an April Fool’s joke.

Heh. You guys are amazing. I never thought to really look because I don’t believe snark has a $1000. But now….well, let’s just say that this is pretty embarrassing for snark. How can he/she/it ever show up here again?

Ah, no weasel, he likely got the publishing date wrong, but you already know that you intellectually dishonest weasel. However, if it turns out to be another book, I have zero doubt whatsoever that we will find a signed copy readily for sale on the Net for short money. In your ignorance, you believe signed books to be rare and expensive when that simply sin;t remotely the case as experts will tell you.

MSNBC is trying to spin this as a “hip gift” which means it was either on purpose or the Swiss Family Ogabe knows its been caught again…..

Yep…cause, you know, we’re a “hip” nation now.
Can I get a fist bump on that?
genso on April 1, 2009 at 10:01 PM
Meh, pick up any given book on Amazon. As far as I can tell, the one you demand as proof is not the one Barry gave the Queen.
Barry scribbles his name in it and the press has a collective orgasm, as it is now “rare” and “autographed”.

I did a little more research. During the Bush administration Gladys Boluda was Assistant Chief of Protocol with oversight of the Diplomatic Affairs division of the Office of CoP. However, I would love to know how seriously the WH is taking her suggestions.

Another lie. Snark, I’ll give $1000 to ACORN if you can show me all of the 1000 times you mentioned Amazon on this thread.

Sorry but Gladys can’t seem to manage an Outhouse Protocol much less the White House Protocal. It isn’t stretching matters to say that she is almost as bad as “Turbo Tax” Timmy.

Hi INC, sounds like this woman knows what she is doing based upon her experience. She must be quite frustrated working with the inexperienced occupying the WH these days. I am sure she gasped out loud when somebody floated the idea of a $200 IPOD.

Leftists have an amazing ability to deny the truth regardless of how much evidence they are given. It truly is a mental disorder. I believe that more and more each day. Maybe the country would be better off if we started adding psychotropic drugs to the water supply.
TheBigOldDog on April 1, 2009 at 10:17 PM
C’mon Dog, explain it to me. How did Rodgers sign a book in 1952 that you say wasn’t published until 1958?
SnarkVader on April 1, 2009 at 10:17 PM
Wow. And here it is on Hot Air, for everyone to read in sequence. Dignity is a virtue.

BigWyo on April 1, 2009 at 10:20 PM
Let me ask you, which is more likely:
1) The reporter got the publishing date wrong
2) He signed a book that wasn’t even published until 1958?
TheBigOldDog on April 1, 2009 at 10:20 PM
It must have saved a lot of time just duping Andrew Sullivan’s i-Pod.
DrZin on April 1, 2009 at 10:21 PM
3. You’re an idiot who doesn’t realize the book came out in 1951. I’m curious: what, exactly, will it take for you to admit the book was published in 1951?
SnarkVader on April 1, 2009 at 10:23 PM
BTW, it’s completely immaterial. I know you are desperately trying to hang your hate on technicalities like “Amazon” and “1951″ but the fact of the matter remain: similar books, published in similar years are readily available and not very expensive. That’s the real point and you know it. All this technicality crap just makes you look more and more like a juvenile weasel and does not have the sense, maturity or class to simply admit when you are WRONG.
TheBigOldDog on April 1, 2009 at 10:23 PM

89. RODGERS, Richard. The Rodgers and Hammerstein Song Book,
Simon and Schuster, NY, 1958. Small folio 255pp. Very fine in
DJ, inscribed and signed on the title page. Scarce and desirable
book, filled with songs and illustrations from the great musicals of
Richard Rodgers. The first signed copy we’ve listed……..$950.00

The first edition was published in 1958. If there is another book, published in 1951, I have no doubt we will redily find signed copies of that available too. Again, the point is that similar books, signed by him, published around the same period, are readily available and not very expensive.

You see how they do it? Take any issue that makes Obama look bad and it becomes personal and a distraction, but a lefty never needs proof or a link. Progessive = anything that I say right now supercedes anything I said, implied, or in any other way insinuated to be my position if it was more than 10 seconds ago.
Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to prove a lefty WRONG. You must provide at least 3 seperate examples of peer-reviewed research untainted by any form of conservative bent, but you must also do it quickly, before they get a chance to modify and muddle their position then claim that to be the accepted factual consensus. If you choose to accept this mission, your reputation is forefit and the VRWC will disavow any knowledge of your mission, or your very existence should you fail.
You will recieve no reward for your efforts other than a warm and personal feeling of a job well done. Neither the lefty, nor the VRWC, will acknowlege your victory or at any time admit that a contest of wills has taken place. Your defeat, on the other hand will cost you your life, your honor, your personal riches, and a never ending parade of trolls telling you how stupid and hopeless your movement is.
Oh and you are racist.

Point is, there are tons of 1st edition signed books by Richard Rodgers. Most of them run in the $100 range.

I’m sure that QEII was so impressed with the Obama’s buffoonish teleprompter, especially when she directly remembers Winston Churchill. Can the man-child Obama disgrace the USA any more than he has already? Absolutely yes.

Matt Helm on April 1, 2009 at 10:49 PM
Again, and for the last time, it really doesn’t matter. The point was, is such a book rare, hard to find and expensive and the answer to all 3 is no. Snark-Weasel made the assumption it was when she issued her bold challenge. When she was quickly proven wrong she resorted to hanging her hat on technicalities like it had to be through Amazon showing her total lack of integrity. That’s the real point.

R & H were writing new musicals through the 40s and 50s. I imagine there were frequent collected works published because they would certainly sell.
This is from Wiki, which I assume would get the dates of their musicals correct.
(1943) Oklahoma!
(1945) Carousel
(1945) State Fair
(1947) Allegro
(1949) South Pacific
(1951) The King and I
(1953) Me and Juliet
(1955) Pipe Dream
(1957) Cinderella
(1958) Flower Drum Song
(1959) The Sound of Music

TheBigOldDog on April 1, 2009 at 11:00 PM
My point being, you’d have to consult with a book collector/seller who specialized in this to know if any particular edition had any special value. Why it became valuable would have some merit.
INC on April 1, 2009 at 11:02 PM
But you don’t understand she gets to hang her hat on “Amazon” buy you don’t get to hang your hat on “Rodgers and Hammerstein song book.”
She’s an unethical weasel and I’m about done wasting my time with here. She has shown here true colors and people here on HA can judge her accordingly.

genso on April 1, 2009 at 11:04 PM
By the way, I can also search the Library of Congress site–even though it is a PITA. They’re holding a sound recording of the songbook dated 1960 and nothing earlier in their online catalog. Now, there was a Rodgers and Hart Songbook published by Simon and Schuster in 1951: The Rodgers and Hart song book : the words and music of forty-seven of their songs from twenty-two shows and two movies / edited and with an introduction by Richard Rodgers ; foreword by Oscar Hammerstein II ; illustrated by Doris Lee ; arrangements by Dr. Albert Sirmay ; text by Margery Darrell.
And yes, you can pick up a 1951 edition for anywhere from $35.00 to $85.00. Meh…He should have gotten the dvd collection…
Matt Helm on April 1, 2009 at 11:05 PM
You could give Snark-Weasel links to Amazon for a signed 1st edition version of every book he ever signed and she’d still break her word. That’s the way she rolls. That’s why Leftists don’t pay their taxes or any of the other things they demand from the rest of the world.
