Didn’t some liberal the other day whine about the echo chamber?
Does it apply to presidential town halls as well?

A mind is a terrible thing to waste….
Or, the new Obama motto, re: the stimulus et al.,…a waste is a terrible thing to mind.

With the full rectal exam Joe the Plumber took by the media, these “critics” get nary a passing glance. Funny how that happens.

Come on, it says right there the questions were “far from planted”. I can only assume they were lovingly sewn, or perhaps carefully cultivated, but certainly not planted. That would be wrong. I mean, can they help it if he has so many

President Obama’s idea of “engaging [his] critics” was clearly on display in the discussions leading to the “stimulus” bill. It consists of a meeting invite and “my way or the highway.”
Good to see that even the Wa Post is on to this.
Worst. President. Ever.

well, he does like to know what he’s talking about before he speaks, after all.
no better way to take care of that than to know the people and the questions they are asking before they ask them. all night cram sessions, no doze, and a little caine….what a combination for a town hall.

You guys act like narrowing topics down to make the telepromter guy’s job easier makes Obama into some kind of hypocrite.
Can you even imagine how much drive space it would take to store the doublespeak needed to deal with the sort of questions conservatives would ask? It’s not hypocrisy, it’s professionalism, and that’s something you rascist redneck bumpkins will never understand.

Obviously, the idiot messiah was talking about “fashion critics”. For anything that requires actual thought, The Precedent is too friggin’ stupid to understand the points of his critics. After all, if he ever had two brain cells to rub together, he never would have taken any of the moronic marxist garbage seriously.

This will be so whitewashed it will glow.
After beating relentlessly on Rush Limbaugh, Cindy McCain, Bush, the Bush Twins (and God knows who else on the right side) for past addictions and/or lapses in judgement…
The communist MSM will dode on Mizzz Biden with comforting words of sympathy, cheer her on in her “inner struggle” to rehabilitate and “find her way through the dark hour”, and in the end, give her a multi-million dollar book deal. Oprah will have her on the show to discuss her “rebirth”. She will be granted admission to the onslaught of awards shows. She will be the cover story for People as a heroine (no pun intended) to be admired. She will become a fashion icon, getting a cover of Vogue. She will become a feminist icon, getting a cover to Ms. magazine.
She will be a star. Because of this.
Nary will we see her on the tabloid covers (as we did with Palin and baby Trig). It will not be mentioned on Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollyweird, The Daily Show, The Colbaaaaaaair Report, SNL, Olberfart nor Mathscrewz.

Don’t worry, the irony was caught.
When Obama slams the big evil corporations, do you think that they are shaking in their shoes? No, because in Obama-lingo regulations simply means regulating the crap out of small businesses and having a government employee on the board of AIG…

Earth hour doesn’t start here for another 28 minutes, may turn on a few more lights and a heater (I’m cold).
As mentioned in another thread, I did go out and buy some ‘canned air’ after learning that it was being banned in office areas at work because it contains ingredients whose constituents are some large amount worse than CO2 for global warming. After hearing that, who could resist? Worked really great cleaning out the PC chassis when I replaced the dead video card yesterday.
AZfederalist on March 28, 2009 at 11:04 PM
Exactly. You were expecting maybe … Sarah Palin? Don’t think he could come close to holding his own with her without lying through his teeth. Oh wait… he does that anyway.
Christian Conservative on March 28, 2009 at 11:07 PM
What you’ve got to remember is that this guy has no conception of how moderates, let alone conservatives, think and operate. Our viewpoint isn’t even on his radar screen. His idea of “engaging the other side” is to listen to a normal liberal.
After all, this is the man who called the abortion debate “stale and fruitless.” Doubt he would have been happy had someone used those words to describe the passionate abolitionist movement in the 19th century….
Roxeanne de Luca on March 28, 2009 at 11:08 PM
Dang, this is the first time I find myself wishing I was the type of person who leaves the Christmas lights up all year long!
But, I will do my best to ensure that my house is visible from space.
califcon on March 28, 2009 at 11:09 PM
Again I ask what makes this man tick? What he DOESN’T do is so pointless. If it’s important to ‘engage ‘ people who differ, why won’t he insist that Pelosi and company at least listen to a GOP budget? Why does he refuse to rein in Nance and her crowd insofar as that is possible? Why does he refuse, absolutely refuse any kind of inter-action with the Hill. Instead he goes to the people as he calls it and expects them to rouse their Congress people. OK as far as it goes but sooner or later they’re going to get tired of it because that’s just the way things are. He is rife with so many contradictions that they are becoming too many to keep track of. What he’s doing is illogical and makes things harder than they need to be, and yet he just escalates this crazy behavior when it would be so easy to get what he wants by less controversial means and at the same time build some bridges which this country sorely needs. Both right and left would/could embrace this. He’s crazy in how he goes about things and not being smart about it at all. I know, another long rant—sorry but I’m obsessed–have to see someone about it I guess.
jeanie on March 28, 2009 at 11:10 PM
Obama can’t hold his own in any debate without extensive pre-set ground rules and a sympathetic moderator. Sarah Palin would have destroyed him in debates last autumn, especially if the moderator had been, say, Brit Hume.

No media outlet is ever going to buy it out of fear of being ostracized. More likely is that NBC pays up just to bury it.

She would have as she did O’Biden but he would have lied so beautifully, as did O’Biden, that she would not have time to rebut the lies else not make her own points.
His lying eloquently would have been mistaken for enlightenment and knowledge by the publik skool edukated masses and libural mediaobots would have told them they were correct in their assessment while Sarahs’ folksy, everyday plainspoken truth would have been ridiculed as a stoopid hick from that little frozen godforsaken place up north.

The more conspiratorial minded might point out that this is not crazy at all, but part of his effort to continue to sow more chaos that can then be leveraged to his advantage in promoting his change and growing government meme. The more chaotic things become, the more people will turn to government to instill order back in their lives — that they will have to give up some freedom for that order will be a reasonable trade in their eyes.

In fact, in my Church, during Bible study they all make a concerted affort to convince each other that the naive folks of Bible times only thought they witnessed real miracles and then they put forth various theories on how these could have happened in such a way as to fool these poor mis-guided folk. Yeah, I had a similar experience in college. My “devout” catholic professor told us he believed Jesus was real person and he believed that he died on the cross, but that he did not believe in an actual resurrection, but more of a metaphorical resurrection… For me, this would be where I would want to become an atheist; however, for liberals (which he was), this is a way of finding our definition of G-d in our own way…
