I worked for a large company in a small town in Northern CA.
For three years the power company threatened surcharges for on-peak power usage in the summer months; they never did anything. Businesses can always move; at least that town took the hint. A bad economy can force changes for both good and bad.

I can’t see reconnecting cost with consumption as anything but good. I just found out recently how screwed up Baltimore’s electric utility is. They gave a great big payoff to all customers to shut them up about raising their rates (about double California’s)–and those payouts should have run out last month for the poorest rate payers.

As far as California goes (since I spoke to my democrat assemblyman) green jobs are putting insulation in houses and installing solar panels. In other words they are CONSTRUCTION jobs..union jobs that do not export a damn thing ans are temporary at government funding.

To a mentally challenged liberal these jobs can’t be outsourced just ended.

Solar panels are not cost-effective; the payoff exceeds the life of the panel.
I would look at a solar water heater however. That panel merely circulates water through a panel on the roof.

Barry should have been required to demonstrate he could run a Boys Scout Troop before being handed the reigns.

This guy has done nothing in his life, not created anything, run anything or contributed to anything of any significance. As a result, he knows no limitations and is detached from reality. As a consequence, we are being yoked to the whims of his imagination and whatever concoctions he dreams up.

He might as well say he’s going to create a perpetual motion machine that will solve all of our energy needs.

FDR destroyed thousands of jobs and millions in capital with his public energy programs.

The government used bribery, the law, the courts, relentless prosecution of utility’s owners and massive subsidies to give themselves unbelievably unfair advantages and utterly destroy the competition.

With cap and trade, government subsidies and new environmental regulations, Obama is setting up Round 2.
