Good news: Brazilian prez blames financial crisis on “white people with blue eyes”

posted at 8:30 pm on March 26, 2009 by Allahpundit

I guess I’m in the clear. Good stuff, though: If there’s anything we need more of in an age of economic terror and populist rage, it’s racial demagoguery. What, no Jew-baiting?

President Lula said it was completely unfair that the poorest people in the world were suffering most for the mistakes of wealthy, Western financiers…

President Lula, head of Brazil’s main left-wing party, said that ‘no black man or woman, no indigenous person, no poor person’ had been in any way culpable for the global banking crisis.

‘I’m not acquainted with any black banker,’ he said. ‘The part of humanity that’s responsible should pay for the crisis.’

The president of Brazil doesn’t know any black bankers? None? He may get more media attention than he bargained for from this little bon mot. Exit question: Can’t we all put aside our differences and just blame Soros?

What color is Franklin Raines? Doesn’t he count?

Blue Eyed Devils, didn’t they do social experiments that showed how easily prejudice can take shape in a group?

Oh I forgot it isn’t racism/prejudice if you make racial slurs against light people. IF people really knew what went into their genetic make up in America, they might be surprised at what has gone into their DNA but this guy is concerned with what skin color bankers display. Yeah hating people based on skin color for their supposed inherent behavior aka – stereotypes not as simple as it looks.

Guilty on both colors. Which re-education camp do I go to?

Annar on March 27, 2009 at 10:17 AM

He doesn’t know any black bankers? Since Brazil has a significant black population, I guess he’s president of a racist country, then.

Anybody think there is a perception among some out there that Obama’s election means its OK to express anti-white racism?

I’m a white dude with green eyes so I guess that makes me

Anybody know how to say “kiss my lily white ass” in Portuguese?

Laura in Maryland on March 26, 2009 at 10:45 PM

The Lily part doesn’t translate well but you could just say:

“Beija minha Bunda branca!” (Kiss my white ass)

“ponha seus labios em meu olho da goiaba branca sua panaca!!!” (put your lips on my white eye of the passion fruit you butthead!!!)

..sounds funny, but its slang. *Shrugs*

-Wasteland Man.

P.S. Panaca means jerk or like the same general feel of “butthead” in portuguese, which I always thought was funny watching the new Star Wars movies and seeing Captain Panaca trying to protect queen Amidala LOL!

WastelandMan on March 27, 2009 at 10:31 AM

…and by the way “bunda” is such a great word for “ass”

bunda (bOOn-dah) its just too fun to say. and if you have ever been to Brazil is the bane of every man alive!! LOL.

-Wasteland Man.

WastelandMan on March 27, 2009 at 10:35 AM

He is a racist, oooops I forgot only white people can be racist…

TrueBrit on March 27, 2009 at 10:41 AM

Was that Lula or obumma speaking? He must have been educated in an American institute of higher learning. If there were some way of finding out the truth, I’d bet anyone that at least a third of non-white people educated in the US public school system believe EXACTLY what he said….Ain’t liberalism grand?

Yet one more country that will not be getting any of my tourist dollars…

yubley on March 27, 2009 at 11:48 AM

Pretty sure all those Poor People who tried to buy houses they never could afford have a whole lot to do with this. Them along with Al Sharpton (who i’m pretty sure is black, not quick sure what issues he takes up) who helped push the housing mess back in the 70’s

Rbastid on March 27, 2009 at 11:53 AM

I guess the trick is to be a white person with brown eyes.

MaiDee on March 27, 2009 at 11:56 AM

This guy is an example of why state-run industry doesn’t work, and big government always causes economic disasters. No politician will ever fess up and admit his policies were wrong, and they will always have a loyal core of followers that doesn’t want to hear them admit failure. Jimmy Carter has never apologized for stagflation, and still feels comfortable weighing in on foreign policy, for example. We’ve got documentary evidence of the culpability of people like Barney Frank in the subprime disaster – he was caught standing over the murdered corpse of the mortgage industry with a bloody knife in one hand, and a fistful of stolen money in the other – but he has more power today.

The politician’s first, last, and only response to the failure of his policies is to find a scapegoat. A good scapegoat has to be someone the mob of angry peons can hate with utter abandon. Blue-eyed white devil bankers are an excellent choice, in both America and Brazil. Jews are a perennial favorite as well.

One of the reasons fascism always turns violent and ugly is that political excuse-making can only get so far with invisible scapegoats. The Democrats did remarkably well last fall by waving vaguely in the direction of Wall Street and assuring the electorate that shadowy, nameless figures lurking in those concrete canyons were responsible for all the problems – not a single Democrat politician had the slightest thing to do with it. Eventually even the more credulous Democrat supporters were unsatisifed with attempts to pin the blame on ghosts and shadows, so it was necessary to begin targeting more specific scapegoats, and the AIG hatefest began. Notice how it only took a few days for that to devolve into angry mobs ready to take buses to the executives’ houses for “direct action.”

So glad WE have been doing all that atoning and outreach and globull assistance. Paying off big time!

Anybody else worried about the fact that there is a very good chance our head guy feels the same?

America1st on March 27, 2009 at 12:25 PM

To all you people that keep writing Spanish phrases including Allah Pundit, people in Brazil speak Portuguese. White Devil is Diablo Branco. Sorry I had to I’m getting my TESOL masters.

sburg57 on March 27, 2009 at 12:36 PM

Geez, talk about a sweeping racial generalization. Lulu will be making an appearance in Trinity church soon. You can bet that kinda garbage will get a foot-stamping, banshee reception…

RepubChica on March 27, 2009 at 12:40 PM

Lula, my bad. :-)

RepubChica on March 27, 2009 at 12:41 PM

How many black bankers are in Brazil? How many black politicians in Brazil?

albill on March 27, 2009 at 12:59 PM

He’s not alone. Academia in this country feels the same way and have been teaching our children this crap for several decades now.

TrickyDick on March 27, 2009 at 1:20 PM

Yep. That pygmy living in a grass hut along the banks of the Amazon, spending most of his day dodging piranha,is probably really worried about his 401k crashing.

Lessee…that’s the country with pink and blue money, where idiots stand on top of moving electric trains, and macho men can throw boiling water in their wives’ faces and it’s quite legal?

Screw ’em.
