Comedy gold: Dean urges civility towards president … on Olbermann’s show

posted at 3:50 pm on March 26, 2009 by Allahpundit

An instant classic from Olby Watch, worth filing away for the next time our modern-day Murrow decides to lecture Glenn Beck on the dangers of demagoguery and demonization. On the right, cast in the role of the “voice of reason”: A man well practiced at race-baiting and known to reach for Slobodan Milosevic analogies when describing the GOP’s campaign tactics. On the left, in the role of sober newsman: A guy given to comparing conservatives to jihadists and calling his chief competitors “worse than Al Qaeda.” Serious primetime political discussion, MSNBC-style. Hilarious.

BTW, Allah, you totally forgot about an important Howard Dean quote that busts him for his own hypocrisy here:

http://archive.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2005/1/30/104654.shtml

I hate the Republicans and everything they stand for,” former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean told Democrats gathered at a Manhattan hotel, in quotes picked up by the New York Daily News.

I can’t stand either of these SOBs, so I’m not going to go back and watch the clip for the exact quote from the video, but he says something about how he would have spoken out if Democrats had been making incendiary comments about Bush.

And by the way, the “I hate Republicans”, isn’t the half of it. This guys is the most hateful vicious operative we’ve ever seen.

RightWinged on March 26, 2009 at 5:23 PM

but it turned out that MSNBC was running the account, unbeknownst to Mr. Olbermann

Hahahaha, Olbermann, you are a complete lunatic!!

AGAIN do you get paid to be a shill????????

Jamson64 on March 26, 2009 at 5:24 PM

HOWARD DEAN: Well, I don’t laugh at the Republicans because they were pretty effective in winning elections for a long time, but I just scratch my head and think you know, what are they – obviously, polling does not tell you to call the President of the United States a fascist, so they must be doing something very peculiar in there at the RNC, and I’m not sure what it is, but I think their problem is that they’re just in disarray. The other thing is they don’t dare offer their own solutions, their own budget, because they know these are very tough times and no matter what you do, it’s not going to be good medicine to swallow. So they criticize President Obama, but they have nothing to say for themselves. And until they do, they really have no message, and that’s a big problem, and they’ve got to fight through this in order to get back to being a competitive party again, and right now, they’re not.

DNC trio of monkeys: dumb, dumber, dumbest.
Hear nothing that Republicans are saying.
See nothing that Republicans are writing.
Speak nothing that Republicans have said.

Talk about computer illiterates. Democrat leaders with Obama in charge suddenly have no knowledge of current events, unable to access YouTube speeches, even if dodging Congressional Republicans in the House and Senate.

maverick muse on March 26, 2009 at 5:26 PM

Y’know, if we act the same way to Obama that Olbermann and Dean did to Bush, we’re no different than they are.

How can we complain about Olbermann and Dean and their attacks and then turn around and do the same thing to a new President?

I don’t want to be a mirror image of Olbermann and Dean.

Who does?

SteveMG on March 26, 2009 at 5:27 PM

Dean looks good — he looks refreshed and youthful.

I wish he would have taken this tact during the Bush Administration and not turn to foolish analogies.

Poor Olby and his stupid sloganeering and cheer leading for the far-left…he is indicted on his own show better than any conservative could have done (because he refuses to have conservatives on his show).

SteveMG on March 26, 2009 at 5:27 PM

I never complained about their attacks,I intend on showing them how well they have taught us to behave.

canditaylor68 on March 26, 2009 at 5:41 PM

Olbermann wants meat on the Eloi bone.

Legislating obligatory compulsion to join the equivalent of the Hitler Youth in America will tarnish Obama’s halo as his young subjects “suffer the consequences” of non-conformity to The One’s Own Will. Sure, there will be a wave of brainwashed youth who willingly enter through the Morlock gate; and likely no critic will emerge. Little Johnny won’t be home for Christmas; in fact, no one will know exactly where Johnny ever ended up. Fascism terminates all critics. Fascists do not accept criticism. Obama is a fascist.

Would that this were the only fascistic element of Obama’s presidency. Stopping the 4th Reich would be simpler. Yes, I allude to candidate Obama being promoted by the Germans, a pawn in their effort to conquer the USA. I don’t speak of Merkel so much as the German bankers and industrial leaders.

“I hate the Republicans and everything they stand for,”
Failed former Vermont Gov.
Failed Presidential candidate
Failed DNC chairman.
Failed medical doctor

Howard Dean told Democrats gathered at a Manhattan hotel, in quotes picked up by the New York Daily News.

Failed DNC chairman? It pains me to say, but NO. Absolutely NOT.

You can’t call anyone a fascist anymore? I think Charles Johnson just went catatonic.

Crusty on March 26, 2009 at 5:56 PM

Howard Dean has a few axes to grind. If I was a liberal Democrat I would be very frightened.

Wendy Kaminer is a former senior correspondent for the far-Left American Prospect and a contributing editor at The Atlantic Monthly. She also serves on the national board of the anti-American ACLU. She wrote this in November 2001.

Her money quote:

Patriotism does not oblige us to acquiesce in the destruction of liberty. Patriotism obliges us to question it, at least.

The Mirror Universe (from Star Trek), Bizzaro World (Superman), The Rabbit Hole, 1984, pick your literary equivalent.

Oh no. Oh no no no. Dissent is patriotic. I have a right to dissent and disagree with any administration.
What does that bumper stick say again? I’ll be as gracious and civil to your President as you were to mine.
No, getalife, aka Baghdad Bob, you’re going to have to grow a thicker skin. Teleprompter Jesus has not lived up to expectations so he will suffer well deserved mockery, until he puts on his big boy pants and starts acting like a President, or until he runs back to his ivory tower of zero expectations and zero productivity and lets a competent President take over.

Who, Olbermann? Oh dear, things are worse than I thought…

unclesmrgol on March 26, 2009 at 7:44 PM

Whats really hilarious about idiots like KO, is that if Bush were as bad as he makes out then he couldn’t say the things he does.

Immigrate to China and then insult the ruling communists there, Keith.

That was hil-arrrrr-ious.

Keith, get “them” to print you a t shirt that says, I’m woefully hypocritical and totally irrelevant.

Too bad you didn’t do that when Bush was president.

docdave on March 26, 2009 at 11:22 PM

I’ve been trying to think of a fitting analogy for this, and so far the only one I’ve been able to come up with is if Pablo Escobar had tried to become an anti-drug crusader.

Cylor on March 26, 2009 at 11:45 PM

It is. It really is comedy gold, the last 9 seconds are the grande finale, culminating in a brilliant epiphany.

I could watch this on loop for 3 hours straight. It’s heaven.

Fish on March 27, 2009 at 2:34 AM

What a pair. I’ll wager Jesse Jackson would like to cut one of them off. :)
