Red, red meat: Limbaugh interviews Mark Levin about his new book

posted at 5:55 pm on March 25, 2009 by Allahpundit

Meat so red the cow’s still screaming. I haven’t had time to listen, but what are the odds this’ll be anything less than Grade-A wagyu for Rush and Levin fans? If they had conferenced in Palin, they could have turned it into the red-meat equivalent of, well, this.

Believe it or not, the Democrats are still trying to Limbaugh-ize the GOP. Exit quotation: “We understand that Governor Jindal has had some problems with public speaking lately, but turning to Rush Limbaugh to be your new speechwriter doesn’t help.”

Blowback

Rush can be the BJ of the New Republican party.

Beck Boy can be the Thomas Paine.

Jindal’s got the Jefferson part.

Palin – can you say Georgie Washington?

You should make time to listen to it, Allah.

I heard it this afternoon, and it was a cogent and reasoned discussion of the book and conservatism in general.

Anyone who is laboring under the illusion that Levin and Limbaugh are “shock-jocks” would do well to hear this afternoons discussion.

We need to get the Blue Dog Democrats to slow down budget approval in the House of Representatives. The vote in committee is tonight.

STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING.

PICK UP THE PHONE.

CALL 202-224-3121.

Ask for one of these five Congressmen:

1. Alan Boyd of Florida

2. Bob Etheridge of North Carolina

3. Charlie Melancon of Louisiana

Tell them to vote no on the budget tonight. We can stop the budget if you will pick up your phone right now. The vote is tonight.

The value of their message isnt reduced because of the way they are presenting it. If you dismiss offhand what they say because of their tone, tough luck for you. It’s a LOT of fun.

i love how somehow i still get construed as leftist even though ive come to agree with plenty of commenters here on multiple issues. either way, there is absolutely something to be said for the way ideas are discussed today on the airwaves (with raw emotion getting in peoples way sometimes…) and how well our leaders can discuss their own ideas.

listen to buckley style discourse and we may end up with a few legislators that mirror that excellent MEP that was featured earlier

listen to rush, bruce, levin, hannity style emotional exclamation and you wind up with boehner.

not that thats an absolute comparison either…its not…but i do wonder what the real effects are.

Meat so red the cow’s still screaming.

Hey, you stole my line!

Darth Executor on March 25, 2009 at 6:28 PM

You want to know what Mark and Rush were talking about? This crap:

According to House Financial Services Committee member Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., the small print in the $42 billion bailout bill passed by Congress and signed by President Bush requires these two government-sponsored mortgage giants to deposit 4.2 percent of all new mortgages they underwrite into the National Affordable Housing Trust Fund. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that will be $531 million in fiscal 2009 alone.

Here’s the catch. Bachmann warns that the trust fund — the largest expansion of federal housing assistance since Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society — is required to make grants to organizations that have “demonstrated the experience and the capacity to carry out the proposed Trust Fund activity.” Which means that money can easily be siphoned off to groups such as the National Council of La Raza and the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. The latter has been heavily funded by George Soros, the mega-wealthy mogul behind many liberal causes.

Ugh. Good thing we gave D.C. 700 billion, huh? I’m going to eat dinner.

Weight of Glory on March 25, 2009 at 6:31 PM

In 2006 Pelosi said Impeachment was off the table. Signaling to the country the Democrats were not run by the angry mob within its ranks.

In 2008 Obama ran as the candidate looking to get past the angry mobs of days gone by.

Both times the Democrats won DESPITE the wailing and teeth gnashing from the angry left.

Somehow the angry right is too blind to see that and instead thinks the 8 years of BDS helped the Dems.

barkolounger on March 25, 2009 at 6:32 PM

Well why don’t you give it a shot.

I’m sure you have a cogent analysis ready for why America doesn’t bears the responsibility for its 30 year old bi partisan drug policy?

I’m sure you have a conservative defense for the massive expansion of prisons and prisoners under clinton and bush jr.

I’m sure militarization of the drug war was the only patriotic way of dealing with American drug dependency.

I know it is far more politically attractive to send special forces abroad to kill ‘narco terrorist’ than it is addressing the issues of addiction and crime related to it here at home.

What I find sad is watching good conservatives pretend they are all for personal responsibility until someone suggests they may be in part responsible.

Our drug policy is a national tragedy and we have helped create it as much as the Dems.

Tax withholding is probably the biggest government rip-off in the history of the country. If people had to write a check to the government for the taxes at the end of the year out country would be very different. Never mind that withholding also makes employers unpaid tax collectors for the government.

Tax withholding is probably the biggest government rip-off in the history of the country. If people had to write a check to the government for the taxes at the end of the year out country would be very different.

Not sure where I heard this, it might have even been a Congressman proposing legislation. But the gist of it was the idea that we should end all federal withholdings and send every taxpayer a bill for taxes due. On November 3rd.

Imagine millions of pissed off taxpayers, all of whom have just written a check for 40% of their yearly income, marching into the voting booth. Some people might just pass up the voting booth and head to Washington armed to the teeth. Not to mention the billions of dollars in delinquent taxes that the IRS would never be able to collect.

The problem is that to keep the republic requires strong principles, virtue and heroism. The left caters to the path of least resistance, to the lowest inclinations of man. In the absence of an heroic straggle for virtue and liberty, the tendency to laziness and egoism triumphs.

I wish I had the courage to read this, but with three older, rescued dogs, I’m just not ready to go there yet! I love that he honored his “Sprite” with a book though.

Quoting Ernesto
just that they both get sensationalistic and overly simplistic when trying to make a point sometimes…and let emotions take them to places they need not go.

I agree that they can be overly simplistic… it would actually be good if they got in depth on an issue like say Social Security and how it takes away individual responsibility, fosters unnecessary dependence between generations, between man and government and ultimately is a Ponzi scheme and a fraud ( the employer never matches your contribution – he just reduces your salary by that SS amount and passes the buck back to you).

I am not a Rush listener and i dont know if he has tried this before. How ever in his defense, he is a radio show host and entertainer as well. So, he does get a little sensational.

At the very least he isnt talking about “healing” the planet in peril and indulge in rhetorical flourishes that MEAN NOTHING. you know, like the current POTUS does.

nagee76 on March 25, 2009 at 7:12 PM

I just got back from Wally World, there was a car in the parking lot that had “WE SURROUND YOU” written on it’s back screen. Somebody’s listening.

Cindy Munford on March 25, 2009 at 7:14 PM

Meat so red the cow’s still screaming. I haven’t had time to listen, but what are the odds this’ll be anything less than Grade-A wagyu for Rush and Levin fans?

Wagyu, Allah?

Try Allen Brothers.

BKennedy on March 25, 2009 at 7:14 PM

That’s not even close to being true.

Our VP isn’t wealthy for one.

What the hell world do you live in Barkalouger? Get your facts straight before you post- Biden has a huge net worth. He’s been collecting on his senatorial status for years.

anniekc on March 25, 2009 at 7:15 PM

“Our VP isn’t wealthy for one.”

Joe Biden owns a 6200 square foot mansion on 14 wooded, lakeside acres in Maryland, that he bought for about $400K in the mid-90′s. Sweet deal, heh?

He’s wealthy beyond anyone reading this forum….by far.

Every single one of the corrupt smear merchangs in Congress is wealthy, because they are criminals. All of them.

Who ever heard of a “struggling ex-congressman”. To say it is to laugh.

notagool on March 25, 2009 at 7:16 PM

Well why don’t you give it a shot.

I’m sure you have a cogent analysis ready for why America doesn’t bears the responsibility for its 30 year old bi partisan drug policy?

And that is somehow in your mind a casus belli for murder and torture and kidnappings on the part of Mexican gangs?

I’m sure you have a conservative defense for the massive expansion of prisons and prisoners under clinton and bush jr.

Very few people in the U.S. are in prison who don’t belong there and for that matter there are plenty of people not in prison who should be, or still be, there.

I’m sure militarization of the drug war was the only patriotic way of dealing with American drug dependency.

I was not aware of any U.S. militarization of the “drug war”. Do you belong to some super secret force that has been fighting in Mexico?

I know it is far more politically attractive to send special forces abroad to kill ‘narco terrorist’

Are you getting this news through some special frequency on your radio?

than it is addressing the issues of addiction and crime related to it here at home.

Plenty of money has been spent on addictions. If you are still addicted just go find Jesus or something.

What I find sad is watching good conservatives pretend they are all for personal responsibility until someone suggests they may be in part responsible.

Our drug policy is a national tragedy and we have helped create it as much as the Dems.

barkolounger on March 25, 2009 at 6:48 PM

Rather ironic on your part as it sounds like you don’t believe in personal responsibility at all.

MB4 on March 25, 2009 at 7:22 PM

I wish I could call the moderates irrelevant like Levin does but I just can’t. Not when they are nominated by the Republican party for President.

Dollayo on March 25, 2009 at 7:24 PM

If Sarah Palin memorizes “Liberty and Tyranny”, the Democrats are doomed. Think a hot Margaret Thatcher on a mission to destroy those who attacked her family.

Right_of_Attila on March 25, 2009 at 7:26 PM

But on a much wider note, you must have missed the stories of small red state reps sleeping in their office because they can’t afford DC rent.

barkolounger on March 25, 2009 at 7:11 PM

Odd as when I lived in that area I had no trouble paying rent on an apartment with a fraction of their pay.

If the “moderates” and independents didn’t vote for McCain, who do we have to nominate to get them? maybe Kucinich?

barkolounger on March 25, 2009 at 7:11 PM

If he is not wealthy after all those years in DC he must be an idiot. Just another reason he should not be VP.

Jamson64 on March 25, 2009 at 7:35 PM

On their salaries they should be able to swing the rent.

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t think republicans should nominate any more moderates. I’m just pointing out that a moderate did win the nomination and that tells me that they are not irrelevant, unfortunately.

He must have been a really great bargainer. Maybe after he retires from office I can hire him as a buyers real estate agent.

Quite the shame since the interview was adult, serious, and relevant. Three things in far too short supply among the liberal “Republicans” you usually gush over. Far easier for you to throw insults at Jindal than address any of the issues brought up in this interview.

How soon you forget the way the primaries were rigged to help the liberal wing of the GOP. McCain would have been toast had he not won “winner take all” contests in places like Florida where the real Republicans had to fight one another- allowing the rat bastard poltical traitor clear sailing.

neuquenguy on March 25, 2009 at 7:28 PM

Is there a place for them in the reborn GOP? I tend to think there isn’t. This is about the survival of the nation and the ideology that provided all those freedoms and prosperity. I’ll be damned if Arlen Specter and John McCain are worth defending as part of the nation’s defense.

Besides, what are you doing assuming the income level of contributors here?
—————–

And that is somehow in your mind a casus belli for murder and torture and kidnappings on the part of Mexican gangs?

casus belli? Taking responsibility for an outcome doesn’t justify or excuse actions taken getting to that outcome.

Very few people in the U.S. are in prison who don’t belong there and for that matter there are plenty of people not in prison who should be, or still be, there.

If person A breaks law B they ‘deserve’ to be in jail.
That’s not what I’m arguing.
When millions of people end up in jail for breaking the same laws then only a zealous ideologue would argue locking people up is an effective way to counter the law breaking.

I was not aware of any U.S. militarization of the “drug war”. Do you belong to some super secret force that has been fighting in Mexico?

It’s not so secret. And have you looked into DEA procurement lately?

Are you getting this news through some special frequency on your radio?

We’ve had special forces in Columbia for years.

Plenty of money has been spent on addictions. If you are still addicted just go find Jesus or something.

Who is talking about throwing money at failed policy? You seem to be suggesting the Drug war isn’t a failed policy so keeping the billions flowing to that fight is a good use of the money.

I disagree.

Rather ironic on your part as it sounds like you don’t believe in personal responsibility at all.

MB4 on March 25, 2009 at 7:22 PM

What part?

Oh, and btw the whole premise of the back and forth is crap anyway. Clinton didn’t say “the US is mostly to blame for drug violence”.

Just more over selling the outrage.

She said

“I feel very strongly we have a co-responsibility,” Clinton told reporters, adding: “Our insatiable demand for illegal drugs fuels the drug trade. Our inability to prevent weapons from being illegally smuggled across the border to arm these criminals causes the deaths of police officers, soldiers and civilians.”
