Quotes of the day

“No, things have changed,” she continued. “But complaining? Or whining? Absolutely not. But I am going to call it like I see it. It doesn’t do any good to whine about any of this. But I can call it like I see it. Sometimes it gets me in a lot of trouble when I speak candidly, and I speak from the heart and I do such a thing. But I am going to.”
“And there was that media slant this go round,” she said. “And unless things change, the GOP had really better can stand together, ’cause we got that on the battlefield also. I call it like I see it and like I lived it on the campaign trail. Not complaining, but dealing with reality.”
“Those are the cards that are dealt us,” she said, “and we had better learn to play that hand and do things right and do things better.”

Jindal described the premise of the question — “Do you want the president to fail?” — as the “latest gotcha game” being perpetrated by Democrats against Republicans.
“Make no mistake: Anything other than an immediate and compliant, ‘Why no sir, I don’t want the president to fail,’ is treated as some sort of act of treason, civil disobedience or political obstructionism,” Jindal said at a political fundraiser attended by 1,200 people. “This is political correctness run amok.”

Well-done, Jindal! Such a welcome contrast to the craven Limbaugh bashers.
Speaking of Political-correctness, Hannity had a great segment with Andrew Breitbart tonight about the tyranny of political-correctness. A.B. was positively raging about it. In the scheme of things this was a minor example, but at his son’s school, St. Patrick’s Day is now…..I know you’re thinking Shamrock Day, which is bad enough but you’d be wrong…Potato Day.

Who’s asking for detailed policy positions? A simple opinion would suffice. She’s chimed in on several major national issues. Why not this one? Does she not realize the importance? And wouldn’t conservatives want to know where she stands on one of their hallmark issues?
SnarkVader on March 25, 2009 at 11:46 PM
Nah, it’s just O-bots having their moments of doubt and then returning to the groupthinking fold, partly out of fear of ostracization, partly out of the realization that they have everything invested in this empty suit. Look at Jim Cramer.

This supposed mish mash of Palin’s words come from a terrible quality video. It is hard to make out some of what she said due to the quality. How nice of AllahDunnit to quote her in this way. Is this from an official transcript or did Allah actually watch the video? Somehow, I don’t see Allah watching it.

SarahPAC rolling in the dough, Sarah Palin still receiving rave notices in the news with her speech at the Lincoln Dinner (also thanks to AP), then to boot Sarah is slated to give the keynote speech at the Congressional dinner and still #1 in most polls. And all this when Sarah was minding her own business in Alaska for the last 4 months.
Her return to action will have America atwitter and be like the return of Tiger Woods to the driving range.

No, you’re right he was never really off the Obama chain gang. He was just guilty of a few unexplained minutes AWOL. Still I got a bit of whiplash from Sunday’s banana republic lament to Wednesdays “Isn’t he dreamy?”

msmveritas on March 26, 2009 at 12:09 AM
Don’t worry. The flip-flopping narrative will be forthcoming. Obama tried that with the Bridge to Nowhere but because of McCain making such a fuss about it and Sarah cancelling it the Messiah will have a hard to time to hang it around her neck when even the Alaskan Democrats on their web site praised her for the move.

she would be much better at this stage of the cycle to just announce her ideoolgy. her firm beliefs. she can then frame all policy going forward on those beliefs. But allow the americian people to understand over the next year or two what it is you belief. Let us get to trust her on what she beliefs and how she governs. SnarkVader on March 26, 2009 at 12:25 AM
It isn’t, but a detailed analysis and explanation of immigration policy NOW could and most likely would vary to a significant degree from what would be necessary in 2012.
Example: If Mexico suddenly hit its wall against the narco-thugs and things became REALLY bad down there, the immigration issue would be vastly more complicated than it is right now. Immigrants sneaking across to get jobs in the U.S. is one thing, hundreds of thousands or millions flooding across the border instantaneously is another.

Treasury 10-year note yields rose the most in more than two weeks after an auction of $34 billion in five-year notes drew a higher-than-forecast yield, spurring concern record sales of U.S. debt are overwhelming demand. …
President Barack Obama’s government is selling record amounts of debt to revive economic growth, service deficits, and cushion the failures in the financial system. Debt sales will almost triple this year to a record $2.5 trillion, according to estimates from Goldman Sachs Group Inc.

agree. That’s why she would be stupid to get into policy discussions this early. She can frame her policies in world terms on her beliefs. Her answer about Nato and Gerogia during the interview with gibson was a good one. It got lost in the “Russia is our neighbor” crap the left thought was funny. But she didn’t say she would to this or that but said we had treaty obligations which we would stand behind.
Stuff like that. She can be against the runawy spending without giving her thoughts on social security or medicare yet. She talk about personal responsibility and deadbeats etc.
Just do not let the left pin you down yet. In 2011 it will be time to start talking about policy most people tune you out at that point and concentrate on the horserace.

Here’s a radical idea for HA: let’s pray for them and other conservatives who might become national leaders — that God would lead them, protect them, keep their ethics high and bring helpers alongside. I’m tired of seeing conservatives rip other conservatives down while Obama is stealing our country out from under us and away from the heritage our founders left us.

what happens when the bond buyers demand 15-20% interest to cover the inflation that the FEd is doing. We already have 33% of our budget going to pay interest at 3%. If the bonds holders demand 15-20% almost the entire present budget would have to go to pay interest on the debt. no social security no medicare, no army etc at that point we will default and that will lead to worldwide conflict both trade wise and military wise.
Obama is sowing the seeds out of stupidity or malice of our destruction. And the Americian people are too stupid to see it. Bush started it. Obama will finsih it. Reagan looks like a God next to those two.

I think the problem is compounded by the fact that the average knows nothing of how our monetary system works, what drives it, the effect it has on all of our lives. I struggle to understand all the nuances myself and I consciously seek out the information and consider myself reasonably intelligent.
What we need is someone on our side to distill it down to something that ordinary Americans can understand, and to frame it in such a way so that they understand exactly how it is going to affect them specifically. Until that happens, I’m afraid we have no hope of people waking up until it all actually comes home to roost. We are a nation of debtors. Why would it bother the average citizen how much the government borrows? It’s what they do themselves. Few people are cash-on-the-barrel-head savers like the people in this forum. They all have about ten maxed out credit cards at 20% interest, a car loan, student loans, mortgages and HELOCs they can’t afford. They’re not going to bat an eye at The One’s flagrant overspending until it becomes their personal problem.

Ahem: If you allow Ogabe to continue, all that you cherish in life will disappear and you will be lucky to have ditch-weed and puddle water to fight over for daily nutrition.
Clean it up a little for public consumption of course, but the gist is true enough. Prepare to have the nation crumble if Ogabe keeps on, plain and simple.

It’s also true that the left, the lefty trolls, the Mitt-trolls and the Paul-trolls, all of Trollamerica have a few little tricks: One requires some lunatic, fool, “grandstanding blogger,” irresponsible reporter, political hit man, or combination of the above, to make an accusation. No matter how ridiculous or unfair, it can be picked up by somene else and asserted as fact – new “ethics trouble,” or proof of her stupdity or radicalism or venality or personal flaws, etc.
It no longer matters whether this kind of thing – new or recycled – makes any difference at all, serves any current or future political purpose, or in fact has been overused to the point that it’s backfiring, to whatever extent it even registers on anyone at all: It’s simply something that her critics know how to do – and, after all, they don’t really know very much.

I tried to watch Sarah’s speech on both the google link and you tube and the audio is horrible in both so the transcript will not be very good either, so cut our Allahpundit a break.
I like Sarah because she walks the walk along with the talk in a spirited way. I have no doubt in my mind she will be ready and revving to go in 2012 with plenty of fuel in her tank.
She has nowhere to go but up and Obama has nowhere to go but down especially with what he has proposed. All we need to do is expose it loudly and often, not like the clowns in Code Pink, but we can have some fun with it. The Tea Party protests are a very good start, we can harness the anger and frustration with traditional conservative good spirits. We don’t need to go the way of the moonbats by breaking windows and slurring our president.
Jim Morrison once spoke of the soft parade and that is us now, the left has become the hard parade stomping on the rights and freedoms we have enjoyed and our Constitution clearly outlines.
I will not be taken by the mob except by death. The words of Patrick Henry and Samuel Adams have been taken to my heart and they will not die willingly.

That might work if you live in the norte part of America but if you live in the southwest which I will be taking over you should probably learn to dance like a Chihuahua for tacos and an occasional margarita.

Sorry, fellas, but no Sarah for me.
She is a good, honest, patriotic American, but she doesn’t have what it takes to run for president, or be president. You have to have thick skin, a quick wit, and a pretty good grasp of the facts to overcome the overwhelming broadside she will encounter from the media. Let her stay in Alaska and do a good job there, then maybe run for the Senate. We could use her in the Senate.
Jindal, on the other hand, is starting to show a little spunk. I was not impressed with him before, but maybe there is hope for him yet. Only time will tell. Still a long way to go.

Oh please, Jindal and his ‘Mr Rogers Neighborhood’ rebuttal to Zero’s ‘not quite a SOTU address’ was a huge blunder that exposed Jindal.
I don’t know how you could possibly be impressed with him now after not being impressed earlier.
Jindal has kneecapped himself. All the MSM had to do was watch.
Sarahcuda on the other hand has survived the media smear campaign and exposed the reality of media bias in the process.
…all the while advancing her own cause, gaining support and inspiring Americans along the way.

You’re welcome to your opinions. Frankly, I find amateur seers as useless as trolls, and Palin doesn’t strike me as the Senatorial type at all.
She could become the leader of the opposition tomorrow if she gave the word, but I doubt the time is right. For one thing, even if Obama passes his economically psychotic budget in some reasonable facsimile of what he originally proposed, it’s still theoretically reversible in whole and part, and the one thing that might rescue him from his difficulties would be having someone to demonize and defeat. In addition, even if Palin knew exactly where she wanted to lead conservatives, she’s in a relatively poor position to do so right now – wounds too fresh, too many current responsibilities. If you’re going to try to dethrone the king, you can’t afford to fail.
I presume she’s waiting for a sign. I don’t think anyone knows whether it will be forthcoming.

Plus the dumb a@#%s who keep filing all the frivolous complaints have just bought even more publicity and sympathy for Sarah. What a bunch of losers! As word gets out, people are rallying around to defend Sarah and she will have no problem raising funds to pay off her legal bills. You betcha’!
I can’t believe how much Sarah is still making news!

Seems to be a lot of trolls/mobys hanging here tonight. Guess they got lonely on the non-Palin threads! :)

Projection: Mar 2013
With the economy on the rebound and after the last Palin-Obama presidential debates polls showed Obama headed toward an epic victory. Two months after his 48 state landslide victory over Palin pundits roundly agreed that her fumbling of some basic facts in debate 2 were the beginning of the end. Curiously, the diehard Palin Zealots insist that the evil MSM fueled by RINO and Democrap money “knee capped” her. One fan said “Everyone loves sara and it was just an Acorn-UN-Soros plot that overturned the election..Palin! 2016!!” In a related story the FBI entered Allahpundit into the witness protection program after several of the Hotair commentariat began accusing him of helping to engineer the evil Acorn-UN-Soros cabal and credible threats against him began to pour in. He is rumored to be living safely on a tropical island with Kirsten Powers.

LOL.
If you think that this economy has any chance to “rebound” before 2013, given the anti-growth, anti-competition, anti-production, anti-individualistic staticist policies of this group of morons and retards running the federal government, then you are living in the clouds. We are currently in a situation which has but a single escape route, and that is through growth, productivity. We have a debt that MUST be grown out of, which also means that spending from the unproductive sector (non-defense federal government) must be curtailed. There is no other way. Liberals are doing the opposite of both, increasing the unproductive sector and declaring war against the productive. Liberals just don’t understand growth (as all of their world views are static, in nature, frozen in time – which is why their campaign against “climate change” (ROFLMAO!) is so telling) and are actively opposed to production. They all want to bankrupt the coal industry, and every other existing industry, in order to make way for their perpetual motion machines and unicorns.
If these idiots keep pushing the agenda they are on there will be no 2013 election to worry about. Our monetary system will collapse, and all bets are from there. Or, if we save the dollar we’ll be looking at 1930′s style unemployment and federal deficits (from the rise in interest costs – both borrowing and servicing) that will just boggle the mind. You people are driving us over the cliff as fast as you can. It’s absolutely despicable.

I just love the way they do the running dialogue from Palin trying to show us all that she can’t talk.
I mean come on, we all know what she meant.
And I agree with Jindal as well.
The problem I had with Limbaugh is that we all know how the media and the Democrats operate. We all know they will pounce on a remark like that and make it all about the speaker being bad and their guy being sorely put upon. I am sure Limbaugh knew that when he said it.
Terrye on March 26, 2009 at 7:17 AM
For years republicans and their ilk attacked Democrats like crazy. Rovian tactics. But now the wittle republicans get some comeuppance and they practically cry in their beer. “The Democrats are so mean to us.” Hows it feel getting slammed back? Somehow the gop still thinks its 2004 and they are slamming Kerry and every Democrat is like him. Better put on your big boy pants conservatives, we’ll return fire. The days of one sided attacks are over. Button that chin strap, the verbal wars are just starting, and this side takes no prisoners.

Sorry, but this takes the morning cake on quotes of the day.
IF he follows the example of Alexander the Great, then Obama will Cut the Gordian Knot, the complex and irresolvable problem whose solver will rule Asia. Alexander “untied” the knot by cutting it with his sword. He bullied and cheated the Phrygian king with the riddle’s “solution”.
This Eastern Orthodox Patriarch is advising Obama to solve crises through our military, not with diplomacy or intellect, but by force.
So bomb whoever doesn’t agree with you, and follow the example set by Alexander the Great; conquer all by the sword. Rule Asia. Precedence. It worked for Alexander who had more than mere persistence.
