Glenn Beck to Megyn Kelly: Don’t you think the left is terrified of Palin?

posted at 9:35 pm on March 25, 2009 by Allahpundit

“They know where America is sitting,” says Beck of the ‘Cuda’s lefty persecutors, theorizing that she’s a clear and present danger to their hold on government in this political climate. Maybe so down the road, but where America is sitting as of last week is Obama 55, Palin 35. Another $5 trillion in bailouts and stimulus, though, and who knows?

Anyway, something here for those who find Greta’s pieces on Palin too hard-hitting. I was wrong, incidentally, in what I said earlier about the Rush/Levin interview. That’s not the reddest red-meat video ever. This is.

Proud Rino on March 25, 2009 at 9:45 PM

It’s also what she personifies – or what the left thinks she personifies – that they oppose so vehemently.

Especially the cultural/social left – people like Andrew Sullivan.

Yes, they’ll go after her personal history but that is just a substitute for what they are opposed to.

And it’s not just her political views – it’s her very existence.

Glenn and Megyn speak the truth! Tammy Bruce was all over this on Laura Ingraham’s radio show too!

Sarah is still a target even though Obama won.

Team Obama and the Dems know Sarah can take them down. Especially when people wake up and realize the MSM smeared and lied about Sarah during the election. Many people will be angry. Americans do not like to see injustice. John Ziegler’s “Media Malpractice” is helping to get the truth out.

She need to be freed of the Talking Points crap and talk past the press to the people like Reagan did. So long as conservatives do interviews with the MSM… the MSM will define the playing field.

We’re STILL reacting to the news instead of deciding what needs to be the news.

That is the secret. We can have 47 million right-wing blogs, but as long as they just react to what the Left decides are the “approved” topics, the argument is not advanced.

Reagan DEFINED the debate. Palin hasn’t done that yet.

He took a dead fish, analogized the dead fish to us monetizing our debt, and then wrapped it in a newspaper, which he analogized to the different stories that distracted everyone from seeing the dead fish/monetizing the debt.

When federal judges in San Francisco ruled in 2002 that reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools was unconstitutional because it included the phrase “under God,” Sarah Palin was not amused. Palin, who at the time was Mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, quickly drafted a terse letter to the editor of a San Francisco newspaper.

“Dear Editor,” Palin wrote in 2002. “San Francisco judges forbidding our Pledge of Allegiance? They will take the phrase ‘under God’ away from me when my cold, dead lips can no longer utter those words,” Palin wrote.

“God Bless America,” she concluded.

Consider the letter to Mike Doogan, then a columnist for the Anchorage Daily News.

Doogan had written in the paper on March 5, 2002, that lawmakers were considering moving the state legislature to Wasilla. “Now, I disrespect Wasilla as much as the next guy, but this seems a little extreme,” Doogan quipped. “Isn’t being a blight on the landscape enough shame for Wasillians?”

Palin couldn’t resist. Two days later, she wrote a personal letter that simply said:

“Dear Mr. Doogan: Why do you do what you do to Wasilla?”

She signed it, “Respectfully, Sarah.”

It was a sharp contrast to her attitude toward the Daily News expressed in a 1993 letter, in which a seething young Wasilla city councilwoman called the paper “dangerously biased” for its coverage of Sen. George Jacko, a key member of the Republican majority in Juneau. Jacko had been caught trying noisily to get into the room of a female legislative aide and was eventually censured by the Legislature.

“How can you justify your restraint in slamming the Clintons, Kennedys, Marion Barrys and other philandering, chauvinistic left-wingers of the world?” Palin wrote at the time. “Your yellow, liberal rag is so obvious. I pray we will someday have a choice in newspapers again.”

And her early tenure as mayor of Wasilla was marked by persistent clashes with the Mat-Su Frontiersman, a thrice-weekly paper that covers the Matanuska-Susitna valley.

John_Locke on March 25, 2009 at 10:09 PM

Look, another cut-and-paste from Poptech on a Palin thread. Is that all you got?

Give ‘em credit: Proud Rino has more than one fricken angle he can play, getalife does some great haiku gibberish, and DtMH can sometimes sound downright sober and responsible.

Up your game, man. This ain’t New Majority.

A Balrog of Morgoth on March 25, 2009 at 10:06 PM

Poptech is inspiring in that mythical Captain Ahab-kinda way. He scans the site looking for traces of Palin like Ahab scanning the waves for a trace of Moby-Dick. LOL

Looks like Allah’s Rush envy is expanding to Glenn Beck as well.

Allah only likes conservatives even more boring than he is.

notagool on March 25, 2009 at 10:06 PM

He doesn’t like conservatives. He only likes pwogressive republicans like chubs. They are going to run off together and form their own cool party that has like tone and like the cool kids.

“Sliding oil prices and production have prompted Alaska officials to forecast a state budget shortfall of $1.25 billion in the next fiscal year instead of the surplus they predicted just two months ago.” – Reuters

Poptech on March 25, 2009 at 10:09 PM

Hate to use the class punching bag here, but that’s what I mean by “got lucky” on high oil prices.

Poptech on March 25, 2009 at 10:05 PM

She reads most of her news online because most of the national publications take a bit of time to reach Alaska. So wouldn’t be surprised if she reads the economist online.

TimeTraveler on March 25, 2009 at 10:10 PM

Even suppose she were to make millions on a possible book deal, why does she have to fritter away her hard-earned money on these phony charges?

Also, if she weren’t the celebrity she is today, she’d just be an ordinary working class woman trying to do her best in public service. Some of these ankle-biters would have gone after her even then. How could she have coughed up the money in that case? That’s what’s so chilling about this persecution. If she is manhandled like this, what about other virtuous but poor people who are striving to do their best across the country?

I am so disappointed, I posted nice things about you the other day.

Poptech on March 25, 2009 at 10:09 PM

the state of Alaska has a savings account asswipe

they have 8 billion in it … they are debating whether or not to use their savings to cover the shortfall, but with oil rising again … they might not need it

the point remains that they have the savings in case of an emergency because Palin did not allow the legislature to go on a spree in the summmer

joey24007 on March 25, 2009 at 10:11 PM

I’m much more afraid of the Republicans nominating her than the Democrats are. If we nominate her we almost guarantee Obama’s second term.

galenrox on March 25, 2009 at 10:12 PM

The astroturfers are SCURRED…really SCURRED of Gov. Palin!

I hope you’re joking… Allah’s just the political angle for the most part, and usually he’s right; some issues that are going to make the base light up are not going to sell well anywhere else, especially when packaged by Michael Steele, bumbler extraordinaire.

Bah. I’ll bet Poptech is a great guy if you can look past his Palin obsession. LOL

ddrintn on March 25, 2009 at 10:12 PM

Great red meat for me! Palin 2012!!
Glenn knows how to get his ratings above. Watch out Bill O! Palin will not need the Factor!

jencab on March 25, 2009 at 10:13 PM

Look all I’m saying is that in the campaign, she did not understand economics.

I fully understand that she may not be an economics professor, but compared to what we’re dealing with now, Kermit the Frog would look like an economic genious.

jimmy2shoes on March 25, 2009 at 10:13 PM

But before she can captivate Allahpundit, she’s going to have to put on at least 60-75 lbs.

Blake on March 25, 2009 at 9:40 PM

Is this some kinda reference to CelticDiva, that FUB that is (no joke) the official blogger of the DNC for the State of Alaska?

Just askin. (man I’m gettin really good at droppin those g’s)
