I agree that they should go after Dodd, et al, but disagree about Obama. Of course they should go after him. His defenders are not quite as eager to take bullets for him right now and that leaves him a bit more vulnerable. When you see a weakness in the castle wall, you attack it. If you are good enough, and your attack plan is well-concieved, you will breach that wall. If you never attack, the wall stays up and you continue to stand on the outside while the defenders hurl cattle at you and fart in your general direction.

The Democrat party won by campaining against and demonizing President Bush. The NRSC isn’t lying, they aren’t demonizing Obama, they are pointing out the facts. Nothing wrong, and not a good strategy, unless Obama really plumets in popularity.

Guilt by association doesn’t work well unless people don’t like the politician. I don’t think Republicans should try to demonize Obama.

I think they should go after Dodd, and other beatable Democrats.

This is a great ad. Get it on TV as soon as possible. Rush was talking about the hypocrisy of the Democrats and Obama today. Because that word means nothing to them, his choice was tyranny. Democrats are not hypocritical, they are tyrannical. Get used to it or say it loud and clear.

I’m a fan of the GOP going ahead and attacking Obama. He’s the top of the ticket. And Obama is carrying out the liberal agenda that stands in stark contrast to conservative principles.

It’s good to point out when he doesn’t keep promises. I’d prefer them to spend more time talking about why the actions he IS taking are wrong and bad for the country.

I would like to have seen anything at all about the many lobbyist waivers, 5 days for public bill review prior to his sig / 2 days before congress sig.

There are lots of things that could have been in this that aren’t… using contractually agreed bonuses as a chip was a mistake.

It’s a good ad, but I think it’d be a mistake to read too much into it as far as its impact or what it indicates about the strategy we’ll see. The real decisions won’t be made until it becomes clearer what the possible political narratives will be, namely surrounding the economy.
I think taking a few cheap shots about AIG bonuses is fine. The shots are cheap, so whatever, why not take a cheap bump. What’s important is that it can’t become the focus, using populism as a compliment for serious strategy is one thing, but when a strategy focuses around populism you wind up with a bunch of empty suits.

Republicans have their target, Megan McCain, who only joined the GOP at the last minute to support her dad who lost. The Republican platform isn’t her thing, neither is bipartisanship; just her own promotion of her airhead self. Megan is a sour grapes gal when it comes to politics. She lost, so she’s taking her marbles where she can pass herself off for bucks. Makeover.

Megan seems to think her dad lost because he wasn’t liberal enough. She really is in the wrong party. But possibily as she gets older she might see how the way the world works. And realize that her Dad was not solid enough to get the party 100% behind him. I voted for him but… not without reservation and I certainly didn’t want to do much for him… he’s my Senator I know him far too well.

I voted against Obama.

I know I set the bar out of reach. The main point is not so much that there are no politicians who keep promises. They are as media savvy and as visible as bigfoot. Until that changes conservatives will always be the mice among the GOP elephants.

I like reading this site and skimming the comments to get some of what the regular media consistently denies me.
