Quote of the day

posted at 10:35 pm on March 24, 2009 by Allahpundit

“What kind of politician brings a teleprompter to a news conference?

A careful one…

‘At the same time, the rest of us can’t afford to demonize every investor or entrepreneur who seeks to make a profit. That drive is what has always fueled our prosperity, and it is what will ultimately get these banks lending and our economy moving once more,’ he said.

It was a carefully modulated statement, and Obama — relying on a familiar crutch — read it off a flat-screen monitor perched at the back of the East Room.”

Thank God for Fox. Keeping it real.

Served up opportunities to lead with his heart, Obama was cerebral. Cool and calming in a time of white-hot public anger.

I barfed a little when I read that part.

Hollowpoint on March 24, 2009 at 10:41 PM

Is the Obamacrats trying to make nice with the investor class kind of like the abusive spouse trying to make up while their significant other spits teeth into the sink?

Eventually, The Precedent is going to start wearing glasses. He will claim that the job is tasking his eyesight, but the real reasons will be two-fold:

1) He thinks they make him look smart.

2) He will have little monitors in the glasses (as already exist) to quell this teleprompter talk.

Ah, yes, the iron fist in the velvet glove.

Thank you Mr. President. What is the difference between having the teleprompter on two screens on either side of your head and having it on one screen directly in front of you?

Tapper has his Q & Obama’s non-Answer up now.

Tapper never did get a yes or no. You have to read the transcript to see how Obama appears to be incapable of giving any answer other than his talking points. It’s robotic answering.

Tapper: …Will you sign a budget if it does not contain a middle-class tax cut, does not contain cap-and- trade?

PRESIDENT OBAMA: Blah, blah, blah….

When it comes to the middle-class tax cut, we already had that in the recovery….

blah, blah, blah cap and trade blah, blah

TAPPER: So is that a yes, sir? You’re willing to sign a budget that doesn’t have those two provisions?

PRESIDENT OBAMA: No; I — what I said was — is I haven’t seen yet what provisions are in there. The bottom line is — is that I want to see health care, energy, education and serious efforts to reduce our budget deficit. And there are going to be a lot of details that are still being worked out. But I have confidence that we’re going to be able to get a budget done that’s reflective of what needs to happen in order to make sure that America grows.
