Open thread: You know what America needs? More Barack Obama on television

posted at 7:31 pm on March 24, 2009 by Allahpundit

8 p.m. ET across the dial, or try C-SPAN.org if you’re sans TV. Serious question: Why did The One call this presser? Half of it will be esoterica about Geithner’s rescue plan, the other half will be perfunctory outrageous outrage about the AIG bonuses. We can do without more of either. If you’re watching and anxious for annotation entertainment (anno-tainment?), though, there’s an embarrassment of liveblogging riches to choose from. The boss will have something going, as will Ace — with special guest star Iowahawk filling in for Obama’s teleprompter. And in what I think is a first, Greg Gutfeld will be spending his night off sharing his thoughts with Daily Gut readers. Don’t mention Canada in the comments!

While we wait, enjoy the near-epic failure of Organizing for America’s first foray into post-election canvassing. Or laugh along as CNBC cravely caves to leftist criticism by hiring Howard Dean as a contributor and inviting nutroots eminence Arianna Huffington to guest host their morning show. Good work, Jon Stewart.

Update: The TOTUS is ready, baby.

Branch Rickey on March 24, 2009 at 9:18 PM

OBAMA SUCKS.

He is such a long winded blow hard who spins endlessly around nothing beyond rhetoric.

This guy actually presumes that he is the everything, and that anything outside of his everything is blatant ignorance, “no” hollow criticism.

Obama is his own echo chamber. His speeches go round and round without specifying a damned thing. When asked a question, he merely repeats his speech (from the teleprompter that just keeps on prompting).

So he claims it breaks his heart that any American child is homeless. But he’ll be damned before he invests more into homeless shelters; rather, at least tolerate The Salvation Army without interference. They are on his expendable list of luxury items that cost more than they are worth. And get that salt in the wound, folks, as your charitable donations become taxed. See that cold stone face of Obama as he denies any relationship between lower charitable contributions and raised taxes on the same.

There was no irony lost as Obama said he was returning to the Clinton IRS Era that taxed $8K from a family of four with an income of $24K.

Anyone who claims to have the monopoly on workable knowledge is a pompous ass. To further deny ANY credibility to others is beyond the realm of rational. In the sum of all fears, the neo-Nazi said that Hitler was not mad so much as stupid, to persist in overwhelming his own nation’s capacity.

And Obama proudly pronounces his determination to be persistent to the end, the very end. Let him end himself.

We did that years ago with the old Bob Newhart Show. The second show, where it turned out he had a 7 year long bad dream that he lived in Vermont?

Every time someone mentioned his first name (his character was “Dick Loudon”) one took a shot.

If his handyman George Utley (played by the late/great Tom Poston) said “Dick”, it was double dose.

jwp1964 on March 24, 2009 at 9:20 PM

Not a terrible performance, not one of his best either.

I watched Geithner yesterday at the Future of Finance summit and I’ve yet to see any serious criticism from our side.

Instead we have the lefty economists dukin it out over whether it’s socialist enough or too risky for tax payers.

Once again we allow the left to frame the debate because we refuse to engage based on ideological rigidity.

Like this garbage ‘go galt’, except only kinda.

So instead of acknowledging the hyperbole and negotiating, too many pretend they really are ‘going galt’.

Its an extension of the ‘we don’t negotiate with terrorists’, until we do.

Upstater85 on March 24, 2009 at 9:23 PM

O is lying about Republicans with budget ideas.

Michelle M has this:

House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) today held a press briefing in advance of President Obama’s news conference scheduled for this evening. At the briefing, Boehner challenged the President’s assertions about Republicans and noted that the GOP has presented alternative ideas directly to the President on every major issue where there has been disagreement this year – and will offer a better budget solution later this week…

“Last week, I released a video — a YouTube video outlining our budget principles and laying the groundwork for the alternative budget that we will release later this week. Our alternative will create jobs by allowing American families and small businesses to keep more of what they earn, ensure that the federal budget doesn’t grow faster than the family budget, expand access to health care while preserving Social Security and Medicare, end the bailouts to protect taxpayers and reform the financial system, encourage an all-of-the-above energy strategy to make us energy independent, and to fight inflation so the prices of goods and services that American depend upon will remain stable.

“Now, this isn’t the first time we’ve offered better solutions, and the President knows that. Eric Cantor and I personally delivered to the President our stimulus proposal at the White House in January. Our plan would create twice as many jobs at half the cost as the President’s plan, and that’s even according to an economic analysis by his chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers. And what was the response? The White House pretended they never even saw it.
INC on March 24, 2009 at 8:30 PM

We cannot let this lie go unchallenged! Seriously, I got bored I didn’t listen to all the lies but this one is damageing!!! It has to be refuted and strongly enough to reach through to regular people.

Barack Obama will not consider any ideas that come from the other side. That is wrong.

Hey, world. It will take me two days to figure out what to say, even in response to my own words and documented proposals.

Obama sucks. Given two days, two weeks, two months, two years, he still doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

North Korea tests nuclear missiles that provoke Japanese response that provokes China’s response instigating an Asian war in the China Sea with Russia taking advantage of the crisis to screw Eastern Europe and the MidEast. China absconds with American vessels ordered by our Commander in Chief to stand down while Obama is taking days to decide what to do, what to say. He can not be reached, but has his message machine state that he is “present”. Hillary is frantically pushing her “reset” button to no avail.

What a weenie. No compassion, either, as Obama has only antipathy. If you are not part of his solution, you are most definitely part of the problem. BLAME THE CRITICS for your own errors, fool.

I think getalife is slipping, he’s becoming predictable.

HornetSting on March 24, 2009 at 9:35 PM

I told you in another thread that getalife is an automatic-comment-generator, sin soul and brain, just machine.

Have Teleprompter Will Travel reads the card of the man.
A knave without a thought of his own in what he’s turning into a bankrupt land.

His umm, ah, oh, loose mouth heeds the calling of a Soros wind.
A man without a clue of his own is the man called Obamadin.

Obamadin, Obamadin, Where do you roam?
Obamadin, Obamadin, Just be sure to never leave your teleprompter at home.

He travels on to campaign whenever he feels he must
His yearning for power is his guiding lust

There are legends that themselves do spin
Of the Ventriloquist’s dummy
Of the man called Obamadin

Obamadin, Obamadin, Where do you roam?
Obamadin, Obamadin, Just be sure to never leave your teleprompter at home.

Wow, Shep said that he didn’t call on WSJ, Financial Times, or ANY financial news. THAT’s quite telling, isn’t it?!

bryan2369 on March 24, 2009 at 9:00 PM
