10:29 you misunderstood and jumped the gun. Obama can’t blame Bush (or Reagan or anyone) for Obama’s own inadequacies.

Since you asked, I am certain that Bush balanced a center mark in history. But I won’t sugar coat what was progressively socialist in Bush’s legacy. He was an interesting synthesis of many political elements, some of which I strongly supported. However, in the tradition of Chief Executives who push the envelope beyond the Constitutional limitations on the office, Bush left a horrible bail-out syndrome encumbered with promoting the powers of the Treasury Secretary beyond anyone, leaving the one holding the position untouchable. THAT may be the worst thing evah that Bush did. I am also no fan of NAFTA or Bush’s open borders policy, or his hard nosed vindictive purism towards our troops and border patrol under fire, either. But NAFTA is merely one of many treaties that come and go with presidential preference. Whereas the Treasury Secretary now has legislated powers that corrupt Constitutional balanced government, powers that have yet to be revealed but are showing a very bad omen.

I’m going to try that. I’m going to spend 1 million dollars and assume that I’m eventually going to have 5 million. Because I’m magic like that.

mjk on March 24, 2009 at 10:34 PM

Me too. I’m going to go wild with our credit cards and “invest” in stuff, like J. Crew outfits, Wagyu steak, and personal trainers, turn up my thermostat like they do in the Oval office, book First class flights to nowhere, inflate my tires, take vacations in Hawaii, and just sit back and watch the money come rolling in. Woo Hoo! It’s gonna be like hitting the megabucks jackpot.

progressoverpeace on March 24, 2009 at 10:39 PM

I’ll give you an example. A few weeks ago here in Chicago, Mrs. Obama was here speaking to a community group of some sort. During the speech one she made a concerted effort to say that living conditions have to change for anyone living in low income housing. She would like to see all of those residents living in nice condos or homes and she rattled off different nice neighborhoods in Chicago. The next day, I heard an ad on the radio for volunteers to take in low-income residents into their home to give a kid a chance. I was joking with my friends that the next thing coming is mandatory roomates. Those with a nice house are going to be forced to open up their homes to low-income residents. It may not have been such a joke.

Asher on March 24, 2009 at 10:49 PM

Instead of putting out the fire, Obama wants us to water his garden (of healthcare, energy and education programs) while our economic house burns down. He wants us to think that watering his garden in the yard will put out the fire in our house. Get real, Barry. Stop insulting our intelligence.

The Precedent is an angry marxist bent on exacting revenge on the US and the West. That’s it. The whole story. That is what motivates every single thing he does. It is the last question that must be answered before he will sign onto anything, “Will this hurt the US and the West enough?”

There is nothing else to this moron.

Seriouly folks, we are a doomed nation.

larvcom on March 24, 2009 at 11:03 PM

Realign government to conform to the Constitution.

Today the Feds in the Treasury were asked to stipulate a Constitutional backing for what they are doing. Unable to comply, the excuse of course was that they are empowered by Congressional legislation.

The Congress has no right to amend the Constitution without a formal amendment to the Constitution.

We citizens have been holding our breath waiting for the Judicial Branch to actually condemn unconstitutional legislation that is enabling Socialism to permeate and overwhelm our Constitutional government, to literally bankrupt our nation while denying the constitutionally protected voice of the people calling their elected representatives, and through fraudulent election results overwhelmed by illegal residents fraudulently documented to vote.

Now we are told daily by The One to STFU and pay the Obama taxman or be determined as a problem to be dealt with by Socialist thugs. Obama’s Egyptian Sale just keeps on going as there is no limit to available fools ready to sucker. Now Obama confesses he’s going to tax just like Clinton did; families of four with an income of $24K pay $8K taxes. Great break: break your back, your bank account, your budget.

aero on March 24, 2009 at 11:19 PM

A massive front needs mounting to face down the Supreme Court on the constitutionality of federal treasury legislation that has preempted the Constitution without formal amendment.

That same conservative front had better nail down elected official votes to deny Obama the legislation to “legitimize” his bastardization of our Constitutional government.

Educating the CONTENT of American rights as legacy from our founders is our responsibility to voice aloud. If we don’t stand up for the Constitution, why should our government officials?

maverick muse on March 24, 2009 at 11:19 PM

Next, the Congress is about to pass legislation that will greatly ease the mortgage distress among the farmers and the home owners of the nation, by providing for the easing of the burden of debt now bearing so heavily upon millions of our people.

Our next step in seeking immediate relief is a grant of half a billion dollars to help the states, counties and municipalities in their duty to care for those who need direct and Immediate relief.

The Congress also passed legislation authorizing the sale of beer in such states as desired. This has already resulted in considerable reemployment and, incidentally, has provided much needed tax revenue.

We are planning to ask the Congress for legislation to enable the Government to undertake public works, thus stimulating directly and indirectly the employment of many others in well-considered projects.

Words. Just words.

He can’t even staff Treasury. Lost another one today:

The leading candidate to run the Treasury Department’s $700 billion bailout program has withdrawn his name from consideration, according to people familiar with the matter.

Frank Brosens, a hedge-fund manager and big Democratic donor, was considered the top contender to run the Treasury’s Troubled Asset Relief Program. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner is now considering several other candidates, including Herb Allison, who currently heads mortgage titan Fannie Mae.

The withdrawal comes as Mr. Geithner moves to fill out other parts of his team at the Treasury. He has been operating with a small crew of advisers since taking office in January. The lack of manpower at the Treasury comes at a precarious time, given the focus on fixing the financial crisis.

No human on this planet has ever spent as much money as this man has. And he is not done yet. There isn’t enough money in the world to do what Obama wants to do it is insane.

I pray for Obama every day, just because the alternative is so very much worse.
Having said that, I am pretty jazzed that the American people are waking up. And when THAT sleeping giant wakes up, watch out! If Obama really wants to do good things for America, he should use his bully pulpit to attack the urban black culture.
welfare addiction is just another form of addiction like crack, except welfare pays. Until the welfare class breaks loose from the government sugar tit, how can they possibly appreciate the value of hard earned money and what it means?

Throwing money at the education system in welfare neighborhoods is a total waste of money. The culture must change if there is to be any hope of getting the welfare class children to take to education.

It all boils down to responsibility, and welfare underminds responsibility like nothing else. It is cruel and shoud be abolished for the able bodied folks that should get a job and go to work like the rest of the country.

Either that, or the democrats should admit that they enjoy having useless dependents to roll out of the refrigerator every two years to keep them in power.

I know I’m being cynical, but darn it, I can’t help it: I’m skeptical.

Yea, me too, AP. It was all handwaving. He honestly sounded like he didn’t have a clue.

Since the Dear Reader is now using a massive monitor located in the back of the room (presumably avoid the now familiar ping pong side to side reading) it would be nice to get a 2 shot of the rolling script and a view of the prez reading.

I knew he was reading but I couldn’t locate the monitor.

Someone needs to do a an Obama-esque version of the movie…The Reader
