Meghan McCain: “I am a progressive Republican”
posted at 3:30 pm on March 24, 2009 by Allahpundit

Full transcript here. Yeah, granted, she’s the RINO to end all RINOs, but come on: She’s totally charming. How can my atheist heart not soar at back-handed digs like this?
I was raised a Christian, but I was raised open-minded Christian — one to accept people, love people, not pass judgment.
You keep talking like that, missy, and you’re going to elbow KP aside as my designated left-wing crush. Skip ahead to 1:50 for her take on Rush’s “I want him to fail” comment or to 4:30 for her position on abortion and gay marriage. Am I mistaken or does she blank on what King means when he asks her about “choice”? Exit admonition: I told the Twitterites a little while ago that I have utmost confidence in HA’s readers taking the high road and not resorting to fat jokes in the comments. Don’t let me down!

“Progressive Republican”…isn’t that sort of like “promiscuous virgin”?
ddrintn on March 24, 2009 at 6:20 PM
I’m still completely lost as to why she keeps appearing on national television. What purpose does she have?!

Good ol’ Barkolounger has vanished again, like a roach when ya flip on the light. What a puss.

To try to make conservative Republicans look “fringe”.
ddrintn on March 24, 2009 at 6:24 PM
She’s a F A T idiot.
There are no progressive republicans. There are left leaning independents, socialist liberals, conservatives, republicans, and liars…I mean RINOs.
Tell fatass to take her dad and go give sock puppet a big wet kiss on his brown eye. I’m losing trust for republican fatasses like Megan. I think her and a bunch of her RINO buddies helped get sock puppet elected JUST to get the Republicans to move left enough to make RINOs look better instead of the wormy jackasses they are.

Why must the media make my generation look even stupider than they themselves do?
I mean I’m hardly a rocket scientist in general but I am an honestly conservative young person, which is more than one can say about this girl.
Calling her a tool is giving her too much credit. She is a utensil. She needs to find some self respect.
Grayson on March 24, 2009 at 6:56 PM
When was the last time the daughter of the election loser was so vitally important in the eyes of the media that they needed to give them 24/7 coverage?
Hell, the only Republicans kids they acknowledge are the liberal ones or the ones who get in trouble.
Sit down and let the grownups talk Sweetie.

My prediction…Ms McCain will remain progressive and all hope and changey (Cause that’s what all the trust fund kids are doing these days) right up to the point that the Obama administration decides nationalise her mothers beer distributorship and confiscates her trust fund.
This just shows that being wealthy really does enable the truly stupid to say the most idiotic things. I am rely beginning to believe that Megan McCain is just another celebutard with a big mouth. Perhaps she should take a page out of her Father and brothers books and sign up for the Navy or Marines. At least then she might actually learn something about values, principles, common sense, and self sacrifice, instead of going on TV and calling herself a “Progressive Republican” when she obviously has no idea what she is talking about.
Dreadnought223 on March 24, 2009 at 7:10 PM
Okay, I’m going to go out on a limb here and state the obvious- who gives a crap what Meghan McCain thinks?! Seriously. What the hell is a progressive republican anyway? Oh right- her father!

I may exercise restraint on any fat jokes, but it’s open season on that stupid hat. Who does she think she is, Carrie Broadside?
Kid from Brooklyn on March 24, 2009 at 7:32 PM
The media is trying to establish Ms. McCain’s credibility so when her inevitable endorsement of Obama comes in 2012 it’ll have some resonance. Of course she isn’t particularly bright, experienced or creative so good luck with that.

You’re a spoiled rich girl, and you’ve gone too far
You should know what you say don’t matter anyway
You can rely on the old man’s fame
You can rely on the old mom’s money
Your just a witch girl and you won’t end up getting that far
‘Cause you should know what you say don’t matter anyway
Say money but it will only get you so far,
Get you so far
And don’t you know, don’t you know
That it’s wrong to use that way what is given you
So far gone, you’d be on your own
You can’t get by on your own ’cause you’re not strong
And you’ll never be strong
‘Cause
You’re a spoiled rich girl, but you still won’t get that far
‘Cause you should know what you say don’t matter anyway
You can rely on the old man’s fame
You can rely on the old mom’s money
Your just a witch girl and you won’t get that far
‘Cause you should know what you say don’t matter anyway
Say money but it will only get you so far,
Get you so far
High and dry, out of the rain
It’s so easy to hurt others when you can’t feel pain
And don’t you know that it’s only your ass that will grow
‘Cause there’s nothing you give, so just some more go eat
For the hell of it all

Ms. McCain is a lovely young lady, yet she is a political dolt, much like her father. She can take her progressiveness and Republican registration and march them on over to the leftist party where she truly belongs.
Jockolantern on March 24, 2009 at 8:35 PM
If only she was not so stupid, and a RINO…
BTW, you have to look really hard to see the teleprompter. They are large monitors near the back of the room, instead of glass reflectors on stands near the podium.
I guess the TOTUS discussions are making the camera crews try to stage the cameras so the teleprompters are missing from most angles in the Waste-Of-Primetime TOTUS news conference.

Hey Meghan, there’s already a party for progressives like you. It’s called the democrat party. You should look into it.
xblade on March 24, 2009 at 9:20 PM
I have to admit that she looks very attractive in the headline picture.
Then the picture starts moving, and it all falls apart for her.
How does it feel, Meghan, to be a tool of the left to discredit those you claim to support? And do you know that you know you have no value to them but as such a tool?
Of course, it’s TERRIBLY flattering to have all these TV people clamoring for you to appear. Perhaps enough to ignore their motives, if all you’re really thinking about is yourself.

Meghan better figure out another dialogue that isn’t congratulationg herself on her views (whatever they are), kissing up to Obama or whining about Republicans over 30. .
This twit should burn out soon because there are only so many Larry King softballs you can get thrown and still be an interesting guest on TV shows or write interesting columns.
The Jihndahl’s wife thing reminds me of a sorority girl trying to build a clique by telling everyone else who is cool and who is not…Bleech!

Yeah she’s a Progressive Republican, so were the last two Republican Presidents. If she dryhumped a cross you could call her a “compassionate conservative”.

“Progressive Republican?”…

What does that even mean? Progressive is a hip term for socialist. She’s a socialist republican? And see gets friendly coverage than Palin ever got. WTF is going on here.

Progressive Republican? Open-minded Christian?

I can’t really comment on her politics because her ass is so incredibly fat and cottage cheese like.
Her fat ass just gets in the way of her brillant/orginal insights on current events.
I forgot to mention that I think her ass is rather shall we say large and unshapely much like a old bean bag chair.
If this media star thing doesn’t work out for her she can always work at a strip club for for fat ass girls.

Kathleen Parker wrote about Meghain McCain and loves her. Can we quit calling her a Republican now?
Hitler killed millions of Jews, which means they probably printed his manifestos in Barack Obama’s church bulletins. While Coulter, a best-selling author, said Jews would be smarter if they voted Republican.

I am sure she sees herself as the new Arriana Hefferton but really please stop featuring this moron.
BillaryMcBush on March 25, 2009 at 10:46 AM
I can only say that if Meghan McCain were espousing Conservative values that the media would be depicting her as a dimwit due to her “valley girl” accent.
Oh, and Meghan, anyone knows that being “open minded” also means that you don’t hold core values.
The reason that she is getting ANY airtime right now is basically because she is willing to support President Obama ala “We have to support our President”; but as anyone knows, you don’t have to support the President if he is doing something wrong, do we? Or were the last 8 years of the Democrats bashing Bush for wanting to win in Iraq (and we now we have) basically another instance of “Do as I say, not as I do” mentality?
I checked out Laura Ingraham’s response to the furor about the so-called “Plus size” joke she told on her radio show, and you can as well:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kItL5v1ahlA
And it was more or less half joke and half saying that Hollywood would exclude Meghan McCain for not being a stick-thin model type. But obviously, the Demonizing machine of the the media will try to destroy Ingraham for pointing out the obvious. Again, were M. McCain a conservative, we would probably have one of the stars of SNL poking fun of her while dressed in a fat suit sucking down gravy from a ladle to the amusement of Keith Olbermann.
Personally, I think that Meghan McCain is an attractive woman, but she seems to be a Republican only because it gets her on TV, not because she believes in anything in particular, or would not be willing to discuss departing from any of her beliefs should they strike her as not “groovy enough” to impress her friends on Twitter.
darkmetal on March 25, 2009 at 11:25 AM
I was thinking the apple didn’t fall far from the tree. I respect and admire John McCain, but he’s not exactly conservative on most issues that count. His daughter is just putting in words what her dad could not.
4shoes on March 25, 2009 at 11:33 AM
By TV standards she might seem fat to some, but in reality she’s just right. And if you don’t know what a Progressive Republican is, take another look at Mount Rushmore sometime.
And stop being afraid of her.
BaconCakeBaker on March 25, 2009 at 12:06 PM
How do George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt have anything to do with Arlen Specter, Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins and John McCain?
George Washington fought the war for American independence and defined executive power. Thomas Jefferson advocated for government by the people. Abraham Lincoln championed equality and the permanent union of the states. Teddy Roosevelt brought the US into the 20th c. as a global power.
Anyone advocating for expanded Congressional authority? Punitive cap and trade energy taxes? Higher taxation and centralized government? Isolationist foreign policy? Trade wars? Open borders? It looks like you’re another idiot like Fatty McCain here. Her father had a fat mouth, and she has taken his act on the road.
The Republican party needs someone to speak passionately about what it stands for. It needs leaders who demonstrate this and show how it works.
chunderroad on March 25, 2009 at 12:19 PM
Maybe if somebody rings the dinner bell, Meghan McCain will trot back to the McMansion.
chunderroad on March 25, 2009 at 12:21 PM
She’s a big Government, high taxes, big spending, no morals “Republican”.
Any guesses whether she’s anti-war, pro-environment and CO2 caps, pro-union as well? Does she even hold one traditional conservative position? Just one would be a shock at this point.
Defining down stupid, way down.

Ugh! There is nothing endearing about Meghan McCain. The Republican Party does not need this dumb RINO speaking for it. It ever there was a chip off the old block, she’s it. Run along twinkle toes.
You are either a practicing Catholic or you are not. Even Christ permits judging. As follows:
Matthew 7
1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.
The passage is not teaching “NOT to judge” just “HOW to judge”.
If Ms. McCain wants to invite a pedophile to babysit “her” future children, so be it.
sinsing on March 25, 2009 at 1:38 PM
A progressive Republican is a Socialist sabotaging the party for what’s Left. To the extent that Bush was a progressive, he harmed us.
Preempt Meghan to return to her party of origin, the Democrat Party. She’s just a blood sucking parasite.
Her dad still falls short as a GOP voting with the uniparty of “bi-partisans” as often as not. His political survival at this point rests in defining his final days in the Senate as either a true patriot in Congress or a Socialist saboteur.
I’m with Mark Levin, that the GOP belongs to conservatives who established it, stand on the Republican Party Platform, low taxes and localized government, and keep it alive.
Although I am a social conservative by life style, I am also a fiscal conservative FIRST when not given a choice. When the GOP swept into the Majority with Bush, they wasted their political capital over-reaching the Constitutional bounds of government trying UNSUCCESSFULLY (even with the super majority) to pass social conservative agenda as legislation. THEY DUCKED THE RESPONSIBILITY TO BE FISCALLY CONSERVATIVE. This next go belongs to the fiscal conservatives, concerting all political energies to secure our economic survival based upon the Constitution as point of reference, not subsequent matters of misinterpretation for precedence. Allocate tax dollars strictly upon conservative basis to stabilize our nation, prevent further erosion, AND RETRACT SOCIALIST LEGISLATION FROM THE BOOKS.

People shouldn’t forget though that:
“The arrogant cannot stand in your presence; you hate all who do wrong. You destroy those who tell lies; bloodthirsty and deceitful men the Lord abhors.” Psalm 5:5-6
Yep. “Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted. Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else, for each one should carry his own load.” Galatians 6:1-5
