Video: Organizing for America’s training program

posted at 12:52 pm on March 23, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

I’ve been mulling over this latest entry from Naked Emperor News since yesterday afternoon, when I first saw it. On one hand, organizing for political change is perfectly fine, and I suppose training videos to make organizing more successful make sense. On the other hand, organizing a door-to-door campaign to support a political leader already elected to office seems to tip over into that cult-of-personality territory, to which Organizing for America seems oblivious:

From a purely pragmatic point of view, the OFA effort makes sense as a means of collecting addresses for later political campaigns. Think of it as a more-organized successor to the VP selection text messaging Team Obama used in August 2008.

But the mission here seems very, very strange, and not in line with traditional politicking at all. The creepy, ubiquitous Obama logo on their material gives the game away. They’re not supporting the economic policies, which by the way have yet to be fully explained. How can they encourage people to support Obama’s economic policies when even the Obama administration has trouble articulating them and providing details? And even if they could, the omnibus budget bill and Porkulus have already passed Congress and been signed into law. So why do they need a door-to-door campaign?

The policies don’t need the door-to-door campaign; Obama does. They’re pushing their Obama fetish, not grassroots policy change. And that’s very, very creepy.

Ca-reeepy. No matter how much I like a political figure (which I don’t), I’m not going to go out and try to pump people for their information or get them to “pledge”.

Oh, the article is 100% legit, although I am hoping the guy was misquoted. AL.com is sort of a portal site for the major metropolitan areas of AL such as Birmhingham, Mobile, Montgomery and often post stories from the prominent papers of those cities.

Oh and others mentioned his facebook:

We’re here to find out how many people live in your house, how many serve in the armed forces, and how many children you have who will be coming of military age within the next five years. If you’re not in support of this program, please don’t wipe the black “X” off your door when we leave or else we’ll be back to take your civil liberties.”

Liberals always acted like Bush was out doing crap like this, but we’ve never seen anything like the junk we bear witness to today. Ridiculous.

These people don’t think it is creepy at all. This is the “change” they believe in, they think it is part of a “cause bigger than themselves” and they are going to help Barack Obama “change the world.”

And all they are doing is grabbing more email addresses for David Plouffe.

“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands: one Nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.”

Simple. Learned it in school and this one later on..

“I, _____ (SSAN), having been appointed an officer in the Army of the United States, as indicated above in the grade of _____ do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservations or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter; So help me God.” (DA Form 71, 1 August 1959, for officers.)

Obama can kiss my A*s! My Oath is for life.

The scary thing about fascism is how quickly the violent and hateful aspects follow the imposition of government control over private corporations. Even more than the other forms of failed collectivist government, fascism depends on thuggery and cannot tolerate any ideological competition, because it insists on preserving the illusory trappings of market economics.

Communists simply slaughter their class enemies, then put their populations under an iron boot heel and compel absolute obedience. Fascism, especially Obama’s insecure and embryonic version of it, sells the population on the notion that the political and private sectors are still separate, but the former is utterly superior to the latter both intellectually and morally. We see this already with the endless sanctimony from criminals like Barney Frank, who swagger about the media insisting they are both smarter and more virtuous than every private citizen in the United States. The implicit logic behind government takeovers, bailouts, and “stimulus” spending is that no private citizen can be trusted to manage the targeted corporations, or deal with the aftermath of their competitive failure. The entire private sector combined is not smart or noble enough to spend that trillion dollars the Democrats are sucking out of it… in fact, the stimulus bill is a pre-emptive judgment that future generations cannot possibly spend their money as wisely as Barack Obama can, and will not need their resources as much as he needs them now.

Obviously, this fiction of absolute political supremacy is very difficult to sustain with ridiculous buffoons like Barney Frank, or a hapless deer-in-headlights President, in charge of the circus. Right now the public is playing along with them because their opinion of the banks and other bailed-out industries is so low – and this is partially due to the failure of McCain and the Republicans to vigorously defend them and bring Frank, Dodd, and Obama to justice in the early days of the Fannie Mae collapse. As a result, the Obama fascists will use the momentum to gain more power and control over the economy, and when the public begins to run out of patience with them, the brutal tactics of 20th century fascism will likely follow: designate enemy groups and fan public hatred of them to incandescent levels, followed by Party-sponsored “activists” to lead violent action and set off the powder keg.

Keeping the public distracted will require increasing amounts of vitriol from the Left, as the most effective way to cloud the public’s vision is to blind them with rage. Fascism always ends in bloodshed, and the layer of velvet over Obama’s version of it will likely prove to be painfully thin.
