Petroleum based chemistry is ubiquitous in this society; we rely on it for many other things besides fuel (think plastics for instance). I see a wide variety of products being carbon-taxed into oblivion.
This is an all-out war on all consumer goods and services.

The problem with “Green” is that it doesn’t work. Wind power needs a 90% backup of a more steady source like coal or nuclear or hydrodynamic. Solar panels still are not economically feasible. This is why we have propaganda like “Clean Coal” on ads now; coal STILL provides 50-60% of the power used in this country.
One question: our electrical grids in this country are stretched to the limit in many cities; how can anyone with any understanding of this advocate electric cars and/or plug-in hybrids?

Well, corporations aren’t really natural elements of a free market. You could argue that you accept govt interference once you choose to incorporate your business.

They’re the remants of old-style British mercantilism. Why should any business have to incorporate or shield its owners from liability?

There are lawsuits pending in California based on the non-compliance with a state mandate for carbon dioxide production limits. Since it takes one ton of carbon dioxide to make 1 ton of concrete, California will stop all construction, including road repairs, until a resolutio0n is found. Of course, it will take years for these things to be resolved and the environmentalists will demand restraining orders on all new projects and sources of carbon dioxide until the new limits can be implemented.

And actually, the only thing holding these lawsuits back today was that horrible bush administrations refusal to allow the EPA to create laws from the fraudulant scam known as global warming. Well, it used to be global warming, but that got to be so recognizably fraudulent they had to find a new name for it.

Called this before the election.

Under current law, global warming Cap and Trade will be brought into effect by Executive Order.

Once CO2 is declared a pollutant, it falls under the EPA to regulate… and as we know from the DDT decision in the 70s, its not about science at all, but about money, and politics.

Congress will not even be invited to get involved… kinda like the whole bailout… can’t send it to Congress because then you have other peoples opinions invovled…

Why do we even have an EPA? Any regulation that attempts to protect the environment in any way is obviously counterproductive and borderline sinister…why do we still have one?

That’s not entirely true. Regulations against excessive emissions of sulfur dioxide, nitrous oxides, and particulate matter HAVE improved our environment without driving the economy into the ground. It’s a question of bang for the buck–if a company can reduce emissions of REAL pollutants by 95% or 98% with an add-on control that adds 5% to the cost of a product, the air gets 20 times cleaner at 5% more cost, and businesses will comply.

Carbon dioxide is different–it is NOT a pollutant, and is generated by anything that burns, so that reducing its emission by any significant percentage will cripple the economy due to lack of energy. The amount of “warming” avoided is trivial, and the cost/benefit ratio is huge–somewhere in the tens of trillions of dollars per degree.

The “global warming” alarmists also overlook the fact that plants grow faster and have higher crop yields in a high-CO2 atmosphere–more CO2 means a greener and more fertile Earth. The BEST thing we could do about CO2 is NOTHING!!!
