...a definition of antisocial personality which replaces the term sociopath.
msmveritas on March 23, 2009 at 1:53 PM

When I say that Obama is sociopathic, I don't mean merely in the psychiatric sense. I mean the term perfectly literally: Barak Obama hates society; specifically "White" American society.

Barak Obama was abandoned by two fathers and his mother; he was indoctrinated in a totalitarian dictatorship as a child. As an adult, he was mentored by William Ayers; worked as a bag man for the Chicago Daley Machine (the most corrupt political organization in American history) and spent the past 20 years attending a church affiliated with the Nation of Islam. He was raised and trained from birth to be absolutely nothing but a radical, and in his very short tenure at an an executive position, his performance has precisely matched what would be expeced from someone who fully intends to bring down what he considers to be an "evil" system. As for what he intends to build upon the ashes, I haven't a clue and frankly I'm not sure that he does either.

As for his personality, the term "narcissistic" applies to all liberals. It's the psychological precondition which leads to the worldview Ayn Rand referred to as Subjectivism: the perception that reality exists in terms of its effect on one's ego. All liberal policies can be rationally explained only within the context of that worldview. And Barak Obama is as liberal as they come.

As much as I personally don’t like him, I think objectively he just doesn’t show full blown sociopath/antisocial tendencies. His lack of empathy is completely consistent with narcissistic personality disorder Look at the diagnostic criteria and he fits right in:

    1. An exaggerated sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements
    2. Preoccupation with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
    3. Believes he is “special” and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions)
    4. Requires excessive admiration
    5. Has a sense of entitlement
    6. Selfishly takes advantage of others to achieve his own ends
    7. Lacks empathy

I have been thinking about this a bit. Someone mentioned above that they believe he is a sociopath. Without getting overly technical on this he has, IMO, difficulty displaying and perhaps feeling empathy. This is really only one requirement in a definition of antisocial personality which replaces the term sociopath.

Kinda funny how 60% of the country approves of Obama. Oh, I’m sorry for bringing facts into the argument. Do you people have any other thought than, Obama has failed? 60 days in and your building your bunker. Hey scaredycats, you can go hide while the adults repair the damage of 8 years of Bush. I know your not going to help, but would it be too much to ask for you to stay out of the way? Your the fringe cultists now, not the majority. We have enough majorities in congress that we don’t need gop help. But please keep crying me a river about the evil,marxist,anti-christ,muslim.

Thanks for your evaluation. It's very helpful to me. It makes sense that he would focus and exude contempt in talking about Cheney because he saw Cheney's words as a personal attack. I also appreciate your insight about his obvious intentions to manipulate and control salary.

The dems have had a majority in congress for the last two years and look at what they have done to the economy in such a short time.

During the campaign, a fellow journalist confided that ‘I know Obama is a Manchurian candidate, I just can’t figure out what for.’

…but voted for him anyway. Liberal white guilt is a crazy thing.
Grafted on March 23, 2009 at 7:52 AM

What's going on right now is what Ayn Rand referred to as "the sanction of the victim" taken to its ultimate extreme.

Conservatives assume that liberalism is absolutely nothing more than hedonism. But if that were true, they'd never have accomplished anything. Liberalism is actually slightly more than that. It's not just about making me feel good; it's about making me feel good about myself.

And Barak Obama is an unfillable vessel for that sentiment. This isn't just lip service; this is a genuine cult. Liberals will gladly martyr themselves for him.

Fact: In an analogous period, George W. Bush had better approval ratings than Barack Obama.

So I guess then we can expect Obama to remain less popular than Bush. He's basically Deval Patrick, who can't even muster 30% approval in Massachusetts of all places.

OBucko is toast.

“No, no. There's gotta be a little gallows humor to get you through the day,” Obama said, with a laugh.

So this is where "hope and change" have led us, to the steps of the gallows?

Before I was concerned when they elected this guy. Now I am downright terrified.

Investors now want to buy what the fed has guaranteed or what the fed itself is going to buy. There is no chance that such a state of affairs will efficiently allocate resources. None at all.
KentAllard on March 23, 2009 at 3:39 AM

Option 1: The federal government admits it made a colossal error, drastically reduces prices on the bad paper, and takes full responsibility for the ensuing recession.

Option 2: A bunch of investors with a trillion dollars in their pocket all go insane at once and purchase for full value the now transparently bad loans no one was willing to touch with a ten-foot-poll back when they were bundled with at least some good paper.

Option 3: Monkeys fly out of my butt.

Anybody want to lay odds here?

When are you guys going to figure it out and quit responding to getalife?

getalife is not a 'real person' No one is at the same time so stupid, obnoxious AND so persistent.

Getalife is just a false persona created to keep the website hit count up by making silly, easily refuted statements and strawman arguments that are so outrageous that they are difficult to ignore.

A body language expert would be very interesting because that is a science unto itself.
msmveritas on March 23, 2009 at 2:55 AM

It's way too easy to read too much into this. Assuming he is genuinely sociopathic (which I do), then his stress reactions are not going to match any norms. Other than the obvious things - like giggling while talking about armageddon - there's really no way to guess what's going on in there.

But I would consider a visceral reaction to Dick Cheney a positive sign. I'm desperate for any indication that Obama really is nothing but an overachieving airhead. But even then, what does this prove? It's possible that Cheney's an organizational genius (I actually have no idea about that) who did something behind the scenes that's stymieing Obama's goals. And if you want to set a narcissist off, there is nothing that will do a better job at that.

(BTW, I would appreciate some time references to the video. I can't watch that psycho for half an hour; he really creeps me out.)

INC on March 23, 2009 at 1:05 AM

Kroft seems a bit incredulous, noticing his squinting when he confronts the inappropriate laughter. Obama is not getting the message right away that the laughter is out of sync with the subject matter. Obama's laughter strikes me mainly as out of line because it seems to come more from a point of view that he is incredulous of all the obstacles. In other words, it is all about him and not how these problems reflect the concerns of citizens.

He does a good amount of looking away or averting his eyes. This is tricky since this is not my specialty. It could mean deception but it can also mean searching for words or an answer. What I thought was interesting though was the inappropriate laughter came at several points both before this exchange and after. When Kroft finally confronts it, he does it with some conviction but then starts to joke himself. Obama does start to laugh again when discussing Afghanastan and catches himself. You'll notice he is straining to keep a smile off his face. You get the feeling he is concentrating on his expression as much or more than he is on the answer he is giving.

I found the one point where he had no laughter but also much less eye averting etc is when he discusses Cheyney. He exudes contempt in this part of the interview and he is by far more forceful in his beliefs. Notice his beliefs seem to be forceful as much or more from his perception of being attacked by Cheyney. I am going to watch this through again tomorrow and see what else I can find. A body language expert would be very interesting because that is a science unto itself.

I was really interested in the exchange about teachers salary vs bankers:

Part of my job is to communicate to them, "Look, I believe in the market. I believe in financial innovation. And I believe in success." I want them to do well.

But what I also know is that the financial sector was out of balance. You look at how finance used to operate just 20 years ago, or 25 years ago. People, if you went into— investment banking, you were making 20 times what a teacher made. You weren't making 200 times what a teacher made.

This is really where he is heading and all his policy seems to support that. When he discusses in other parts the legitimacy of people's anger at bonuses he is careful to include a comment about he is all for success etc. I have a lot of feelings about what society values and pays myself but that doesn't mean that an elected official gets to bring the salary in line by bringing down the high to meet the low. The main problem here was policy and lack of oversight. There is so much in this interview though that can be picked apart. For now I am in dire need of sleep, Good night all.

Russia’s War on Georgia: It’s Not the Cold War, It’s Worse

Red Harvest: Putin’s Plan for Russia

aengus on March 23, 2009 at 2:40 AM

From the first article:

He merely exploits internally the desire among Russians for order, discipline, and leadership along with restoration of Russian power

This is what I meant by "Russian Psyche," the tendency towards autocracy and strong men and a fair degree of nationalism.

From the second link:

Russia has assisted Iran's nuclear program, not out of spite, or pique, but because it's in Russia's interest for Iran to attack the United States.

Scary stuff, and credible.

But Zero will save us, won't he? Crap, I'm not even gonna pretend that's funny. We got problems.

Thanks for the links.
