Quotes of the day

posted at 9:30 pm on March 22, 2009 by Allahpundit

“Missing in action is the Barack Obama who vowed to unite the country around common values. Lately he has been the very opposite of the man he promised. Instead of hope, many have a growing fear of the arrogant government he leads…

In truth, there is no history for what he is doing. He is the most radical President of our times, far outside the mainstream of our political philosophy…

He is not a reformer who fixes things. He fancies himself ‘transformative,’ a man who reshapes and reorders. It apparently begins with smashing the existing order under the pretext of managing the crisis he inherited.

During the campaign, a fellow journalist confided that ‘I know Obama is a Manchurian candidate, I just can’t figure out what for.’

I laughed then, but no more.”

And yet His approval rating is still over sixty percent.

Only 56% approve of Obama as of today.

Thirty-five percent (35%} of the nation’s voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President.Thirty-one percent (31%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of +4 (see trends). The number of Americans who believe government spending will rise during the Obama years has increased significantly in recent months.

Also noteworthy is how Republicans have taken the lead on the Generic Congressional Ballot.

Saltysam on March 22, 2009 at 11:00 PM

Where have all these people been living the past two years? Obama is doing exactly what he said he would do. From day one he has told us in plain English what his vision for America was, and what you see being played out is exactly what he said he would do; “spread the wealth around”. Remember Joe the Plumber?

Just because what Obama said he would do if elected was so unbelievable that many choose to not hear it does not mean he didn’t tell us. So many people just heard what they wanted to hear. And he told us that too. He said clearly at one point that he was a blank screen onto which people projected what they wanted to see. Did you think that was just a Zen thing or what?

America is now in full throated death rattle and we are sitting at our keyboards trying to decipher stupid, abstract ideas about who and what Obama really is instead of standing up and stopping the coup-de-gras Obama promised to end the American dream. While the future of our children and grandchildren is converted from one of boundless opportunity to a wasteland of socialistic tyranny, our entire society is mesmerized into inaction. Perhaps we don’t really deserve freedom, as declared long ago about those who would trade it for a little security: and now we have neither; unless we are actually prepared to take both back by force.

You can think what you will about my views and the future, but one thing you need to quit fooling yourself about is who Obama is. He has a lot of things wrong, but he did not lie about who he is and what he plans for us.

MikeA on March 22, 2009 at 11:01 PM

(1) A surprising 22% surge in February housing starts to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 583,000 units.

(2) A back-to-back jump in retail sales ex autos, in both January and February.

(3) A return to profitability at several major banks, including Citigroup, Bank of America and JPMorgan.

(4) A doubling in the obscure but important Baltic Dry Index, a key indicator of global trade flows.

(5) An upwardly sloping yield curve, which Fed research suggests all but ensures a rebound by year-end.

(6) A Housing Affordability Index that has hit an all-time high.

(7) A two-month improvement in wholesale used-car prices, measured by the Manheim Index.

(8) A rise in Monster’s Employment Index in February, suggesting a turn in the job market may be around the corner.

(9) A sharp increase in the money supply, as measured by M2 and M1. Weekly M2 growth has averaged 10.1% year-over-year since the start of 2009, while M1 has grown at a 14.6% rate.

(10) A two-month rally in the Index of Leading Indicators.

(11) Airline traffic is better than expected.

(12) Consumer confidence is ticking up.

But the best news is the drones have the enemy running scared.

Submit that bad boy. I think we’ve got tomorrow’s “Obamateurism of the Day.”

God bless damn President Obama.

I am not sure about medicated but I definitely think there is something to the incongruent affect.

29Victor on March 22, 2009 at 11:15 PM

Hey! Thanks for reminding me. I’ll do it right now.

Weight of Glory on March 22, 2009 at 11:16 PM

ROFLMAO! How did you do that? That’s like the blog equivalent of a hole-in-one.

progressoverpeace on March 22, 2009 at 11:13 PM

More like an A-hole in one.

Chrysler, GM, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, Obama/dem created deficit, 1.15 trillion dollars printed, countless banks and financial institutions, 401k’s, inflation, unemployment, gas going back up…….. Almost to Carter and headed for FDR.

Johan Klaus on March 22, 2009 at 11:17 PM

but he still has problems with the indefinite article – “a unprecedented …”. He seems to like to enunciate the mistake, too!
progressoverpeace on March 22, 2009 at 11:10 PM

A product of ebonics?? Just a hunch.

nolapol on March 22, 2009 at 11:17 PM

God bless President Obama.

getalife on March 22, 2009 at 11:13 PM

Since God doesn’t exist, I’ll go with that.

OldEnglish on March 22, 2009 at 11:17 PM

They systematic destruction he has suffered on this thread would have driven a sane person off, but not getaclue; he must like getting whupped.

Bishop on March 22, 2009 at 10:59 PM

Getaclue is over at Politico too, doing the same lame crap as here. Goes by a different handle but way too easy to spot. Go take look and see if you can find him/her.

Knucklehead on March 22, 2009 at 11:17 PM

This is a joke, right?

DrStock on March 22, 2009 at 11:00 PM

Not the “ha, ha” kind, though.

Wow, I’m scared at how idiotic these people running the White House are.

deidre on March 22, 2009 at 11:18 PM

Thanks for the compliment but let me put that rumor to rest with these words.

God bless President Obama.

getalife on March 22, 2009 at 11:13 PM

Thanks for the laughing tears. The endorphin release is great. If you think this would absolve you from being him…think again. I’m aching from laughing.

getalife on March 22, 2009 at 11:15 PM

No……….

…….. it really isn’t. But between all the appearances on “60 Minutes”, the “Jay Leno” show, and the weekly cocktail parties at the White House, I can see how you may think so.

Come on……..

……….. don’t give up so easily, think about it.

They just planted a garden at the White House……

…….. that had to put at least ten people back to work.

Seven Percent Solution on March 22, 2009 at 11:18 PM

If this is truly the way getalife thinks, then getalife should pay for the tax increases of every conservative on this blog.

It’s dipsh!ts like getalife that got our country into this mess.

ErinF on March 22, 2009 at 11:18 PM

I just wish that we could have given them Bawney instead of the Churchill bust. The bust is definitely more valuable.

Upstater85 on March 22, 2009 at 11:14 PM

A child’s crayon rendering of Churchill is more valuable!

Maquis on March 22, 2009 at 11:18 PM

Johan Klaus on March 22, 2009 at 11:17 PM

Just call it a comeback.

We will be fine.

getalife on March 22, 2009 at 11:18 PM

I suppose now we know why Zero sent the Churchill bust back to Britain, he thought Winston might be missing it.
Maquis on March 22, 2009 at 11:12 PM

Pffft! Ogabe thought the bust WAS Churchill. The Secret Service detail finally got brave enough to tell the President that the bust wasn’t the real man and he should stop talking to it.
